I booked and stayed in this hotel as it actually was a great way of travelling to the airport while leaving my car at the hotel for 2 weeks. It is a very cheap package and there is no hassle driving through the night etc. This is a lovely hotel and the rooms are basic but... more

I stayed at this hotel and left my car there for a week while I took a holiday and it worked out cheaper than leaving my car at the airport. The hotel offers a shuttle to the airport too which was very handy. I thought the rooms were very nice and clean and the bathroom was... more

Excellent location to Manchester Airport (5 minutes). We booked a fly and park package directly with the hotel - one night’s accommodation and up to 14 days free parking, and this included a free shuttle service to and from the airport. Although our double room was... more

The perfect stay!
we stayed at the holiday inn before we went abroad , what a great start to our holiday, the park & fly package was excellent value and very well organised. we were very impressed with the blonde lady on reception who was very efficient and dealt with our booking in a very friendly and helpful manner. We didnt dine in the restaurant but had breakfast which was lovely. We will use this hotel again!!!
Very Tawdry
I was working in manchester for 2 days and nights and wanted some where comfortable to stay. The decent hotels all seemed to be full (Is there a shortage of rooms in Manchester?) and in desperation booked into the Holiday Inn. I thought this should be ok, its a well known brand name and part of the InterContinental Hotels group. Arrived. Given room on the first floor (no lifts). Hotter than a Sauna! Complained about aircon to find it was being renovated. Room was marked and grubby. Given another double room on the second floor (no lift). Marginally better , but in desperate need of rennovation. Smelt musty. I opted to leave the window open. My 2 night stay cost over £200. Appalling value for money. The breakfast was Ok. I'm used to self service. I asked for a coffee to go with my breakfast. A kindly old gentleman pointed me to a vending machine in the corner. I couldn't believe it! He was embarassed and after a while went and bought me a coffee. InterContinental desreve to suffer market share decline based upon this awful proposition and should be ashamed.
Unbelieveably Bad, and Getting Worse
My wife and I stayed at this hotel last November after returning from a long haul holiday. We had arranged for an early check in, and arrived at 6.00 am.The first room we were given was for disabled persons. The bed did not have a mattress cover, the sheets were damp, and the room smelled musty. We were moved to another room which was better but did not have any extra pillows, and after waiting 20 minutes for them to be delivered I had to go and get them myself. After a 9 hour night flight all we wanted was some sleep. We hung the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door and fell asleep only to be wakened 2 hours later by housekeeping wanting to service the room. We decided at this point to go for breakfast. The buffet breakfast was of good quality but the hot food was barely warm. We returned to the room once again hanging the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door and fell asleep only to be wakened again by the same room maid wanting to service the room. We eventually got to sleep only to be wakened this time by the fire alarm. The whole hotel was evacuated. We later learned that this was a regular occurence and was caused by workmen working on the renovations. By this time we had given up on sleep and decided to go to the bar and have a drink and lunch. The service is terrible. Only one person attending the bar and serving food. The bar is extremely smoky, no ventilation and no Non Smoking areas. The food when it eventually arrived was burned and had to be sent back. We had a bottle of wine with the meal and by mid afternoon decided we should go for a sleep. We fell asleep, but I was suddenly awakened to find a couple with a suitcase standing at the foot of the bed. They had been checked into the same room! After a lengthy discussion with the duty manager who apologised profusely, we were given a complimetary bottle of wine with dinner as compensation for the problems experienced. The rest of our stay was uneventful until we were woken at 4.00 am with an early morning call that we had not requested. Being totally disgusted, we wanted to get out of this nightmare of a hotel and went for breakfast at 7.30. In reception we found a couple shouting at the manager as they had requested an early morning call and didn't get it, and had missed their flight. Although the breakfast room had just opened the buffet food was almost cold. When I returned home I wrote a lengthty and detailed letter of complaint to the General Manager. I receieved a letter of apology from the Operations Manager who couldn't even get my name correct! He offered a 50% discount if we would use them again after conversion to holiday Inn and gave his personal gaurantee of satisfaction. Why we decided to return in February I will never know - I am a born optimist. Knowing that we were returning guests who had a previous dreadful experience we were given the tiniest room I have ever seen. It was so small that the bathroom had a sliding door, as a normal door couldn't open. We were given a room on a nother wing of the hotel. NO LIFTS! Drag your suitcases up two flights of stairs. When we checked out to go on holiday we advised them that we would be returning in 15 days time and required an early check in for 9.00 am. We returned from holiday and checked in and were given the keys to the disbled room that we had problems with in November. The bed the sheets were stained and were about 12 inches too small for the bed, and a used Kleenex was by the side of the bed. We were moved to another room and were assured that we would get an undisturbed sleep. Before going to sleep we had breakfast, once again the food was cold. Obviously any complaints from guests are binned. We returned to the room and fell asleep, and were woken shortly afterwards by banging and drilling. We contacted reception to complain and were assured that no work was going on in the hotel and they would investigate. We decided to go to the leisure suite. This is the only good thing about this hotel. Large swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. When we returned to our room the noise had stopped and we fell asleep. Once again we were wakened by drilling and banging. Reception apologised but asked us to understand that the hotel was being renovated! Why, in an airport hotel, put people that have just returned from a long overnight flight in a room next to one that is being renovated? By early evening we went to the bar for a drink and ordered two glasses of wine. The bar had not been stocked that day and they did not have the wine that we ordered. The bar person did not have cellar keys, and the person that had the keys could not be found. Twenty minutes later we got our white wine served in hot glasses just out of the dish-washer! These were sent back and we received an apology - the hotel is very short of wine glasses. We went for dinner - what a fiasco. The duty manager serving meals in the dining room assisted by the bar person who had to keep returning to the bar. One American business lady that had been waiting for twenty for a glass of wine and a menu exploded saying that she had never ever experinced anything like this hotel anywhere in the world. Another American gentleman at another table joined in the complaint while the Operations Manager sat at another table eating. To sum up - you couldn't write a script that would match our experience of this hotel. The staff are very friendly but do not work as a team and appear to have little training. The management of this hotel is dreadful. Faulty Towers in comparison is like the Ritz. I only gave this hotel a score of one out of five as I was unable to give it a zero. If you are a script writer and are looking for background for a situation comedy book it today, the overall experience surely can't continue for long. If you want a comfortable stay LOOK ELSEWHERE.
Teenie tiny rooms
Oh my god! you could just fit in the as long as you don't have luggage, rooms with no lift! not good with three heavy cases. No porters, had to wait 5mins to check in only one person on the desk, the phone was ringing out whilst the receptionist checked me in. Very worn out hotel. Why has this got the holiday inn name? oh and don't ask for anything as it never arrives!!!
Now a Holiday Inn. Not a great hotel
Holiday Inn seem to have bought a lot of Moat Houses which is a pity because hotels like this will never be up to the Holiday Inn standard. A pokey room is a pokey room. Right now it is undergoing rennovation but that aside, it was like an oven in the room. Open the window and you get aeroplanes. Bathroom was very small too and the place did not feel that good - stains on the old desk, no cups for the coffee, that kind of thing. The HI website shows the hotel near Wilmslow but it is too far out to be walkable (approx 2 miles) and not in the town at all. On the plus side, the gym is outstanding and breakfast was good. Shame it took 15 minutes to check out. They need more staff.
Avoid at all costs
I am wriing this post to urge people to avoid this hotel like the plague. Upon checking in, and viewing the room, i promptly spoke to the manager, whom agreed the rooms where not upto standard, then checked out. Its dirty and run down, its only saving grace being that it has a pool. Other than that its horrendous. Rooms - Like a Prison Cell, why anyone would stay here ill never no. You also cannot get a mobile phone signal in this hotel, so for all you business users, take note of this point. The wallpaper is falling off the walls, the rooms are dirty, the carpet and fittings worn. This hotel is now a holiday Inn hotel, i can see why Moat House would not want to be associated with a hotel of this stature. Save your money, there are better hotels in the area for a fraction more.
Not Up to Expectations
The hotel is now called Holiday Inn, Manchester Airport. Public areas were quite acceptable. My room, however left a lot to be desired. Upon check-in at 2100, I went up to my room with hopes of a good night's sleep. The room was bright, warm and cozy, a little too cozy! A duvet covered the bed and hid the dilemma that I was about to face. The bed was very old, sunken in the middle and angle toward the floor at both the head and fee, a nightmare for anyone with reflux! Nextly, I noticed, it appeared the bed had been slept in! And then I noticed the trash bins were filled with rubbish. And the bathroom had not been cleaned. There was a used toothbrush and a spent tube of toothpaste. As I was tired and wanted to get to sleep, I just decided to go to bed. That was impossbile because the room was unbelievely warm from the radiant heat. I was unable to prop open the window to regulate the temperature. As the bed only had a duvet and no top sheet, I had to remove the inside tic to sleep ---- NOT comfortably. Holiday Inn says they are in the process of renovating the hotel. I hope so. Caution, check your room out first. I won't be back!
Moat House Manchester Airport now Holiay Inn
Good location and quite easy to find. Staff very efficient. Hotel undergoing renovation during our stay so some areas were tired, but our room was perfectly adequate for our needs. Tip: If you have lots of luggage (as we did) one part of the hotel does not have a lift to the second floor. Lots of car parking and it is all made so easy for you. We booked the bus to take us to the airport the following morning and called their freephone number on arrival and were not only taken back to the hotel but the driver pulled up to our car! This is not a luxury hotel, but it is clean, in a good location - with a fabulous swimming pool and, if all are you looking for is a bed prior to an early flight, I would definately recommend staying here. £99 for 2 including parking , I wouldn't look anywhere else when flying out of Manchester.
