" This hotel was a great find. Probably... "

This hotel was a great find. Probably one of the best in the Gumbet/Bodrum area. Two weeks wasn't enough here.

The hotel is set in a stunning garden, with flowers, banana plants, shrubs, lemon trees, cats, and even a family of tortoise. The pool was large and with plenty of sun loungers. This environment made for a wonderful setting.

The location of the hotel is superb, right in the centre of Gumbet. Beach is at back of hotel, Main Street at front door. Two dolmus stops nearby. Easy walk to bar street, shops, and restaurants. Everything is at the hotel or close by. However it was not noisy and very relaxing in the grounds or by the pool.

All the staff can speak English. They are very helpful and friendly, from the cleaners to the reception area. They made you welcome and couldn't do enough for you.

The rooms were very clean, bedding and towels changed daily. Our balcony opened onto the picturesque garden. There was free air conditioning too. The mini bar was overpriced, so we just refilled it with drinks bought from the shop across the street, and they never knew.

Food was fine, if somewhat limited in choice of evening meal dishes rather than the quality of them. What we ate in the hotel was OK, but often we took advantage of the hotels guests’ 30% discount.

In the Park Steak Restaurant great food deal with a 3 course steak meal and wine for £6. Beat that. Or 30% off the Green Dragon Chinese, which was again top value for money and a wide ranging choice of dishes. Hotel has three of four bars in its grounds, with BOGOF drinks offers most nights.

To sum up this is a top hotel and great value for money. Well located, with excellent facilities, staff, and a unique setting. We will definitely go back to this hotel.

" We have just returned from our first... "

We have just returned from our first holiday to Turkey staying at the Parkim Palas. The hotel was lovely set in stunning gardens and the rooms are kept very clean.

The staff at the Parkim Palas are really friendly and always there to help. The hotel is central to everything in Gumbet.

I quite liked the food at the hotel but I know there were a few moans, but that’s English people for you that are used to chips and more chips.

We had a really great time and will definitely think about returning next year.

Thank you.

" We have just come back from a great... "

We have just come back from a great holiday; the hotel is in a wonderful location with plenty to do.

The staff are so helpful with a great sense of humour. The rooms are quite small but clean with good air conditioning and plenty of hot water.

The gardens all around are well kept and the flowers are amazing, and don’t be surprised to see a family of Tortoise in the grass. The boat trip is a must with a lovely lunch and afternoon Tea and cakes.

If you have never had a Turkish bath try one, it's wonderful and a real good laugh.

We thought the food was o.k., if there was anything they could improve on I think this would be it.

Overall this hotel is really good, the staff welcome all children, and you just know that they really care that you have a good time. This was our first time in Turkey but it won’t be our last.

" What a lovely place! You've got the... "

What a lovely place! You've got the best of both worlds as you can go out the front reception area into the main street, or out the back area and you're on the beach.

Rooms were of a reasonable size for Turkey and the only down side was the size of the shower as a bit small, would prefer a double one.

Food- very limited choices, however when you get 30% off in the surrounding restaurants, what more can you ask for.

We only realised how good the steakhouse was on the last night of our holiday and wished that we had went there earlier.

All in all it was one of the best holidays I have ever had, and I am looking forward to going back to this hotel in 2 weeks time! (07)

" The hotel itself was great the rooms... "

The hotel itself was great the rooms were a bit on the small side but it didn’t matter how me and my fella saw it you’re only going to sleep in there.

The pool was huge and all the staff were dead friendly. The only problem we had was with the food - there wasn't much choice some night were great but others were a bit limited. for about £8 across the road at the aloha restaurant you can have a three course steak dinner mmm.

The aloha bar next door to the restaurant (just across the road) is a great night and dead cheap plus the staff are great. If you don’t enjoy it there then you’re in the wrong resort.

" Well that’s my holiday over sad so... "

Well that’s my holiday over sad so it is. I must say though that this hotel was a fantastic place joy to stay at.

I can only repeat what so many have said before that the staff were fantastic, rooms were clean, tidy and kept very well we were in room 130 very near the pool, beach and the diner, my partner and I were with another 2 couples who also enjoyed there stay I would and will recommend this hotel to all our friends, we will be back next year in may if all goes to plan.

Also can I say the diner straight across the road is fantastic as an option at the end of the night there is a chap the called Gunter a great wee man. Anyway hope all who visit here enjoy it as much as we did.

" The excellent location of this hotel... "

The excellent location of this hotel has a secondary road outside its front door and the beach within 20 yards of its back door. Gumbet town centre has everything a tourist wants within a five minute walk but a few bars and tourist-type shops are all in the same road as the hotel. The local bus service (dolmus) runs past the door about every five minutes and trips to nearby Bodrum take about 15 minutes for a 70p fare.

The hotel staff are friendly and helpful with every request being greeted with a smile.

Rooms are basic and clean but there is no tea or coffee-making equipment available.

Evening meals are included in the price but the big disappointment is the quality of the food with a buffet arrangement for breakfast and evening meal. The variety of dishes in the evening is very limited with, usually, only two options of meat course and badly overcooked vegetables. On one occasion we were even offered mixed, tinned vegetables, again overcooked. A cooked breakfast is available at extra cost. The hotel owns and runs a steak bar and a restaurant where a 30% discount is available to residents. We didn't bother trying it, guessing that as the food came from the same kitchen as the main evening fare, the standard would be similar.

There is free entertainment laid on every evening from about 10.30pm and includes Russian dancers, belly dancers and is of a high standard.

" Just back from the Parkim Palace and... "

Just back from the Parkim Palace and having read some reviews before we went, we thought it only fair to add ours!

As already commented the rooms are pretty basic and after the 'Oh my God!' expressions we both had thought we are on holiday and the room was to change and sleep in so didn't matter. Our shower managed to flood the toilet area every time but that’s to be expected.... at least we had a shower curtain!!

Air con was not the best but after a little tinkering and sorting out the filters which had not been cleaned for some time it worked very well, in fact we woke up very cold and shivering the night I fixed it! The pool was excellent and never seemed busy at all. No need to rush down and lay your towels out as we always got a sun bed no matter when we got there.

We were a bit concerned regarding the food after reading previous comments but we both thought it catered for all tastes with plenty of it! We enjoyed all our meal times... and gained a few pounds in the process!

As for the resort, 'bouncing' is the word I would use to describe it! Seeing the waiters in the restaurants dancing and entertaining was great fun with some better than others.
The people trying to drag you into their shop or bar got a bit annoying after a while - you can only walk about 2 yards down the road before being accosted by someone. I suppose they're only doing their job but they would win medals in persistency!

It's well worth shopping around for the tours - prices vary hugely. We took a trip to Ephesus and Pamukkale - Thomas Cook were charging £61, we got it for £28 - were quoted £36 in another place - for a two day trip, overnight accommodation and some meals included - bargain! Cheaper and easier than hiring a car.

All in all we had a fantastic holiday - lots to see in the area, but a great place to relax if that was your bag. Highly recommend it.

" Me and my boyfriend got back from the... "

Me and my boyfriend got back from the Parkim Palas in Turkey 2 weeks ago and we already wish we'd have had longer. The hotel itself is gorgeous surrounded by tropical gardens with little hammocks in.

We had to swap rooms when we arrived because they gave us a little dingy one on the ground floor with no working lights and a view of a brick wall from the balcony, but my boyfriend asked them if we could change and they obligingly showed us two other gorgeous rooms one of which on the second floor we settled for. The rooms are spacious and bright with everything you need and a very effective air con system:) The food however leaves much to be desired, I think we had one good meal at the hotel and the rest were just about edible but not enjoyable.

However it's so cheap to eat out that you might as well. We ate out quite often and found it good value for money and lovely:) (go for a meal at the 'Golden Knife' you get a free bottle of wine and a huge garlic naan bread!) The Aloha Bar across the road is so cheap it's almost like stealing:) we had two burgers and chips and 2 beers and it came to something like 17 Lira which is about £6! free pool table and a cute little white bunny running around:) it's right outside the Parkim Palas, but be careful as they raise their prices after about 9 at night.

I would definitely recommend to anybody to go to the Aqua park in Bodrum! it was so much fun! We went on every slide! we didn't book through our rep we went around and saw who had the lowest price and eventually got it for £7 each and a free trip to Turgetries Market:) watch out though because our rep didn't show up to take us so we marched down to his stall and ended up getting separately driven to the pick up place on his little red moped!

Ha ha ha ha! The market was good although we had one little rude man! Just tell them sternly that you don't want whatever it is they've got! And always check that they give you what you've bought and don't leave anything out! keep your bag close too!:) Overall lovely holiday! Good for our age group we're 18 and 19 and we had a great time lots of bars on bar street. Funnily enough!

Take a left when you come out of Parkim Palas and you'll keep finding streets and streets of bars and shops and even a burger king! It took us 2 days to realise that! Ha ha! so go to the Parkim Palas the pool is awesome, the beach is kind of shoddy so walk right for about 5 minutes and it gets better:) Great first holiday for us:) definitely go back:).

" As a hotel, this is pretty good,... "

As a hotel, this is pretty good, especially for a 3-star. I would give it an 8 or 9 rating, going purely by the standard of rooms and service at the hotel.

But it has to be rated also by the quality of the beach and the general environment, which is after all part of the package.

Although Gumbet has the reputation for being good for water sports, this is certainly not the case for swimming off the beach, which near the hotel is stony rather than sandy, and slopes so gently that you have a long and uncomfortable wade until you get into water deep enough to swim in.

Gumbet itself has turned into the Ibiza of the Aegean, which is fine if you like clubbing and bars, but if you go there for a relaxing holiday forget it.

The best thing to do in Gumbet if you are after peace and quiet is to use the excellent local minibus service to spend the day at the beaches at Bitez or Gumushluk, which are much better, have excellent restaurants and where you are not bothered and hassled so much as in Gumbet. (Take the minibus to Bodrum bus station, from where other busses go to everywhere on the peninsular every 10 minutes or so, nearly 24 hours a day. Brilliant.)

One caution about the hotel: when we arrived we were put in a small, hot and airless room in the older part. The balcony was tiny and the double door onto it did not even open properly. When we spoke to Reception, they put us into one of the "Garden Rooms": a huge improvement. This turned the holiday from a possible disaster into a thoroughly enjoyable one. The management seem to be aware of past criticisms of the hotel and are trying to do something about it. If you have problems, a polite but firm request to the staff will probably resolve them.

Incidentally, since there have been criticisms of the food I should say that we found the evening meals perfectly acceptable. Ditto breakfast, as long as you are prepared to compromise by not having to have totally English food. Why not be a bit adventurous and try the Turkish ideas of cookery: you are abroad for a change after all!

" Just back from Parkim Palace and had... "

Just back from Parkim Palace and had a great time. We will be back! Hotel very clean staff very helpful and maid did some wonderful things with our towels she made them into swans with fresh flowers from the garden.

If you are going and stay in or near room 117 please look after the kittens, the tortoises in the garden as well <watch your feet at night there are some little ones. Breakfast was a bit of a let down but evening meals were good. treat yourself one evening in the a la cart restaurant next door then watch hotel entertainment the fireman show is a must.

For a great night out try molly malones next to the aloha bar. The staff are really friendly yazur, jack and alex will make your holiday.

Only thing wrong with my holiday we were sick listening to the cha cha slide! Think all the bars have the same cd.

" This hotel, and holiday was... "

This hotel, and holiday was fantastic. The staff at Parkim Palas are really great people, with time for you. The rooms are air conditioned and very cozy. The pool, although its all the same depth throughout is also great.

But I would say the best unexpected highlights were the hammocks under the palm trees and the massive pile of huge pillows, just opposite at the beach. The food was also very good, with a wide selection and something for everyone. The hotel also has a photographer and great night entertainment, like snake show, fire shows, and loads of other stuff.

Gumbet beach is so much fun, with water sports and boat trips everyone can find something they'll love, the sea is quite shallow for quite a way out but its clean and clear.

The streets and bars behind are such a laugh, you don’t even need to walk far to find some of the best ones, and bar street is just up a slight hill, with clubs and bars, with Karaoke and foam parties. They are all very friendly and play great music, with a hint of Turkish music too. They are open pretty much as long as your there, closing usually around 5am!

Gumbet is the place to go, and after long drunken nights and great days at the beach, Parkim Palas is a really welcoming hotel to return too.

" The Hotel Parkim Palais is fantastic.... "

The Hotel Parkim Palais is fantastic.

The grounds are beautiful and well kept, with hammocks in the shade of the gardens and plenty of loungers by the pool and on the beach. All the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are cleaned daily and have a TV, a mini-bar (which is not free) and free air conditioning - which is an absolute godsend!

The half board food is great and we found ourselves eating at he hotel far more than we'd intended. As the hotel caters for many nationalities (Dutch, German, English etc...) the breakfasts are continental with little variety day to day - though still enjoyable, but the evening meals are different every day with loads of variety and four courses (soup, cold starter, main and sweet) to help yourself to!

Gumbet has something for everyone - lively bars and clubs around Bar Street, relaxing watering holes on the beach, shops full of bargains (if you are prepared to haggle!) and plenty of traditional Turkish entertainment and restaurants.

Bodrum is definitely worth a visit on the bus just a few minutes away - with a local market, loads of shops, the amazing castle and the Mausoleum (one of the ancient wonders of the world). Boat trips are also great value for money as is a trip to Ephesus. Turkish bath is also a must. Try Queens Travel (right out of the hotel about 50m on the left) for good value trips.

Can't say enough good things about Parkim Palais, Gumbet and Turkey. Will definitely return.

" I have been on any a holiday but none... "

I have been on any a holiday but none quite like this one. It was a holiday of a lifetime. The staff were second to none, as they were very friendly, helpful and entertaining. As I had my son with me I was very worried about letting him out of my sight but within a few hours of arriving I felt very at ease and felt able to let the child around the complex as there was plenty of security.

The entertainment at night was very enjoyable and suitable for all ages. I have to say I really enjoyed the boat trip as it was great fun and a very special way to spend my birthday as Tyson the man in charge organized the cake for me. Thanks again Tyson. The food was very nice and there were lots to choose from. I will be coming back again very soon and will be recommending this place to my friends and family. The rooms were very nice and very spacious and comfortable and the cleaners were very helpful they will even iron your clothes for you if you ask nicely.

So for all men don’t worry about packing neatly just shout for the maid. Ha ha. No, on a serious note Parkim Palas is the place to be.

" I've just returned from Parkim Palas... "

I've just returned from Parkim Palas Hotel, had a fantastic time. The location is great and the staff are fabulous.

The chef also made us special vegetarian dishes on several occasions in addition to daily vegetarian dishes. The staff at the hotel ensured the customers had a fabulous time.

The entertainment was very good in the evenings. Arif, part of the entertainment team was superb. Don and Tyson on the beach were great - such entertainers, if you’re going to Gumbet must meet them. Their boat trip is definately recommended.

1 week just was not enough! I will definitely be returning to Parkim Palas.
