No problems, pleasant location
I stayed here for 3 nights on business. The hotel was chosen because of its location. When I had problems getting the door card to open my room, the staff were helpful and friendly. Pleasant, quiet location. The room was perfectly adequate and there were no problems with cleanliness. The complimentary breakfast was good. The hotel doesn't have a restaurant, but there are several restaurants within walking distance on the Quay.
Nice Location
Stayed here Friday and Saturday of Easter weekend. Improved area of Salford Quays/Manchester according to the local folks we talked to. Small room, but most are on this side of the Atlantic. I found no problems with cleanliness. The desk staff was most helpful with any requests we had for extra towels or bedding. Easy walking distance to a few places to eat and a shopping area. Metrolink access made transportation from Manchester Pic station quite simple. Seems a good choice. Cheap hotel rooms didn't seem easy to come when planning my... more
Dead bug in shower
The only reason I stayed at this hotel was because I live in the apartment building across the canal and while my brother and his wife were visiting, our water stopped working so we had to stay one night in the closest hotel. It did not have the cleanest of rooms, in fact my sister in law told us that their room had a dead bug in the shower! So we were glad to only spend one night there. Probably the best thing about this place is the location. I saw someone else review this place saying the Salford Quays is a "rough area" of... more
good location, sound hotel but quite expensive.
I stayed at this hotel for business, as it was 5 mins from the the Lowry theatre & shopping mall. The location was right on the Salford quays and it had impressive views over the canals. Very peaceful - almost too quiet. Hotel reception was smart and efficient - staff pleasant enough. No restaurant onsite but they did offer to call in takeaways for guests - which i think is quite a good idea (although I didn't use this service). Lifts were a bit ropey but nothing too worry about. Room was a good size and very clean. Bathroom... more
Perfect for what we wanted
Myself and my husband stayed here from from 7-10 March with the principal reason for our trip being the Man Utd cup match on the 8th. I can thoroughly recommend it to adults/kids. I have never stayed in a Holiday Inn before but I definitely will again! The staff were extremelly pleasant and helpful without exception. This was especially nice as the hotel seemed to be very full with the match weekend. The bedrooms/bathrooms are clean and modern. Shower was always hot and decent water pressure. I suppose the bedroom was kind of small but it... more
booking mishap
We arrived at the hotel to be told our reservations made through Hotels.com had not been made we were very surprised as we have booked with this agent several times to go aboard and had never had any problems, the duty manager at first seemed very suspious untill we showed the booking on the computer, he then could not have beeen more helpful, he sorted our rooms and charged us a very fair rate, the stay was very pleasant the rooms very clean and breakfast was enjoyable and many thanks to Alister the duty manager for sorting our problem in a... more
Good All Round Experience
Stayed here 30 Dec to 2 Jan. Read mixed reviews - so we were a bit dubious arriving. Great location. 5 mins walk to 2 very good restaurants (Italian and Mexican). We were attending the New Years Day game at Old Trafford - again brill location - 10 min walk. Few pubs, restaurants, takeaways etc near Old Trafford. Hotel is quite small - lobby doubles as bar/meeting/eating area. receptionist is also bar maid, cleaner, waitress. There are snacks available to buy in the lobby and a micowave too!! Also a good ice machine - you can but... more
OK but noisy
I stayed here for one night as I was working in the area the next day. For some reason I was given a room on the smokers floor which was on the top floor but as I was only staying for one night I decided not to ask for another room. It was a nice enough hotel, the room and breakfast as expected for a Holiday Inn Express hotel (I've stayed in a few in the past). The problem I had though was that there was an excessive amount of mechanical sounding noise from about 5.30am which once I had woken, kept me awake. I suspect it may have been... more
