Food very good, wine list unreliable
from Fel1c1ty
We live locally & have dined at Woodlands several times since the hotel was launched. After a shaky start (vegetables arriving with the pudding!) service has improved & the food is generally very good, with every effort being made to accomodate special diets. One sour note - on more that one occasion our first choice wine, and even our second choice, has not been available - the excuse given that wedding guests had drunk them all the night before. This demonstrates a lack of foresight on behalf of the somelier. It hasn't put us off - but...

Don't Stay Here if There is a Wedding
from Lucy
I booked 2 rooms in this hotel for a weekend away with my family, the reservations lady was very helpful and met my requirements, and we arrived in anticipation of a small luxurious hotel. Reception were very friendly and showed us to our rooms. The rooms themselves were wonderful, with big 6ft beds, flat screen tvs two arm chairs, patio with table and chairs. the bathrooms were oversized with roll-top bath/separate shower. The toiletries were lacking. One soap/shampoo/ per room - and you needed to remember to take the soap to...

Nice but noisey
from A TripAdvisor Member
Spent last Sunday night at Woodlands as an anniversary treat. The hotel is beautiful but unfortunately the roar of the M62 soon starts to get on your nerves especially if the weather is nice enough to sit on the gorgeous terrace overlooking the garden at the front of the hotel. Reception staff need to put smiles on their faces especially given that they were hardly rushed off their feet. (Perhaps it was something to do with us booking through laterooms.com) A member of the bar staff admitted that only one other room was occupied the night...

Eat here but stay elsewhere!
from bonoisfab
Stayed here so one night (for anniversary treat) - decided on this over Malmaison or similar city centre hotel becasue we thought it would be quiet - how wrong can you be!" On booking we were not told there was a wedding that night. On arrival we were told there was a wedding but that this would not disturb us at all. In fact I got only 4 hours sleep. Our room was right over reception and combined direct noise from the wedding party in the marquee until gone midnight and then noise of wedding guests shouting and taxis leaving...

great stay
from waveyed
Stayed for one night on 12 April 2006. Front desk said they were a little quiet so got a complimentary upgrade. Room was great, very clean, modern and spacious with a fantastic bath and bathroom. We hired the Bentley to take us into Leeds city centre and back which was a treat and well worth it at £50. Otherwise it is a short drive or a taxi will cost about £8.50 each way. Breakfast was served in a room with an open fire and great views onto the lawn and woodland behind the hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful.<br...

Great hotel!
from A TripAdvisor Member
One night stay, Easter Sunday. We booked the hotel as a last minute booking with a great price for bed and breakfast. Hotel is ideally located for a visit to Leeds and is just a few minutes away from a variety of shops, restaurants and a cinema. Hotel was immaculate and rooms were of the highest quality - not a speck of dust or dirt. Our room had a lounge, bathroom with jacuzzi bath, dressing room and bedroom and was £89 for the both of us (usually £195). Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety. Staff were all...

Easter Break
from beachgirl75
Stayed at Woodlands for Easter Sunday night in Deluxe Double Room for a special offer of £99 including breakfast for the two of us instead of £230. Lovely drive down private driveway through gated access on the outskirts of Leeds, very easy to find and get to. On arrival went to reception and after waiting to ensure our room was ready the concierge took our luggage and showed us to our room. Wow, very good sized bedroom with chaisse lounge and occasional table in the seating area. Excellent four poster bed which was very...

1 night break
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at this hotel for 1 night in the penthouse suite b&b for late valentines night due to the kids etc. Because we booked at the last minute were given the penthouse suite half price.( should be £500 per night got it for £250). Well worth ringing the hotel before you book and find out how many rooms they have free, you will then be able to get a good deal.(if you do a bit of haggling with them) The penthouse suite is fabulous, the decor and standard of furniture is second to none. The jacuzzi in the bathroom is huge and the price tag of...

Pleasant
from SiJoNorthYorkshire
We had a superior room which was lovely, spacious and had a fab jacuzzi bath and huge shower. Dinner in the restaurant was a little disappointing. The waitresses were really sweet but a little clueless. The food was trying to mimic Anthony's in Leeds, unsuccessfully. Too showy, too salty. Our wakeup call never came despite the hotel being pretty quiet. Beautiful grounds and friendly staff.
wonderful setting near to city centre
from BunnyJack
Just stayed 2 nights at this recently renovated hotel and couldnt believe it was possible to find somewhere so relaxing so close to the city centre. The hotel is set in woodland and very easy to find from the motorway, parking is secure and the hotel itself is immaculate and chic and set in pretty grounds with a lovely terrace at the back. Although we had booked on a bed and breakfast basis we decided to have dinner on Sunday night and we were very glad that we did, the food and service were excellent even though it was obvious that they had...
