Our friends purchased a wedding gift of a £50 voucher for us to enjoy a belated honeymoon which we decided on Friday 24th through to Saturday 25th July at the Rutland Square Hotel
Unfortunately our experiences during this visit were not of the same high quality we had come to expect from Forestdale.
We were initially booked into room 402 which had a lovely view out over the square and was a decent sized room with good facilities and a lovely sized bathroom. On the Friday night however we realised on retiring for the night that the double glazing on one window specifically was in very poor shape indeed, such that it does not fit at the top left hand side, so as to render it useless. We endured a incredibly high volume of noise from the nightclub/bar across the square during that night, along with a high amount of noise from the street from their punters Both my husband and I did not get more than an hours sleep the whole night.
On speaking to the night porter at 5.30am the following day I was astonished and appalled to learn from him that "we'd had other complaints about noise from guests in that part of the hotel" Unfortunately I cannot confirm any other rooms having the same issue with poor fitting double glazing as we had, but our first night in the hotel was frankly a total misery.
On speaking to the day staff and then the duty Manager did offer to move us into another room and we viewed both rooms offered which was room 405 and one on the 3rd floor Room 405 was a slight improvement although much smaller and warmer than 402, but as we had such a poor nights sleep then to be frank I think a broom cupboard would have sufficed. It also looked out over the NCP car-park which we accepted as the best option for a better nights sleep.
Unfortunately our plans for the Saturday had to be changed due to the lack of sleep we had had the previous night.
We showed the duty manager the room on changing so they is aware of the issue with this room, and would hope that future guests do not have such a miserable experience as we did this weekend.
