More Traveller Reviews of Hilton Nottingham Hotel
Central location.

I spent one night at the Hilton, Nottingham on a business trip. The hotel was fairly clean and tidy, some of the decor is a little aged, but has been kept clean. My room was very small and was overlooked by other rooms which meant that the curtains had to be kept shut and 60watt lightbulbs relied on. The bed is not quite a double, but was comfortable. There was no air conditioning in the room only a large fan. On the plus side it was clean and housekeeping seem to keep the rooms in a good state. You have full access to the fitness suite in the basement, the pool is a reasonable size, as is the sauna and steam room, the gym is a bit small but serves it's purpose, but does get very busy between 17.00 and about 19.00. There is only one small lift in the hotel, so forget using it at peak times and take the stairs. The breakfast service was good, with a good selection of healthy and unhealthy options. I found all the staff i encountered to be efficient, smart and helpful.

The minus's booking process messed up - we wanted to pay with some Hilton vouchers we had - we were told that we could, but the hotel still wanted to take a credit card, and the full charge came off. This was eventually sorted but only after chasing a number of times. Room - small, creaky floorboards, lumpy bed. TV didnt work properly, hairdryer was broke (in fairness they did supply another one but we had to ring housekeeping a second time as the plug was a foreign one and needed an adapter). No water the first night. Restaurant - we had a meal the first night which was OK (certainly not great). We were told that there werent any spare menus so we had to wait 20 mins. Indiviually the staff were friendly and trying to be helpful, however, there was a lack of co-ordination which created chaos all around us - mixed up orders, confused waiters not sure which table ordered food and wine and so on. To cap it all, some bright spark ordered some tables to be moved -this resulted in a load of crashing and banging all around us for 20 mins whilst the staff moved 6 or 7 tables around us - it felt like eating in the middle of king's cross station. We eventually asked to be moved to a much better table. Plus's check-out was quick good breakfasts valet parking (although it is £15 per night) hotel is a reasonable good location In summary, not worth the money - would recommend a bed and breakfast or travel-lodge and eat out. There were some lovely restaurants in Nottingham which are good value.

Good points, food great staff excellent and very helpful. Bad points, rooms are awful. First room 250 supposed to be a double, but very small and pokey, the next room had big damp patches on the wall and the paper was falling off, the third room 603 whilst being quite spacious again was a little tired and not up to the usual Hilton standard. The bed was very uncomfortable and you could feel the springs sticking into your back, also it gets very hot, so hot that the heats wakes you up. This Hilton is apparantly privately owned so may just be a franchise and the reason for the poor standard of accomodation. We stayed on Saturday and there were quite a few stag and hen parties staying there also, although didn't realy pose a problem as we were staying on the 6th foor, but did mean that you couldn't get to the bar without pushing your way through. Food was excellent although it did not match the menu, what did arrive was cooked perfectly and tasted great. The staff also from reception that took the time and understanding over the quality of the rooms, to the resturant, could not be faulted. Overall I suggest you stay at another hotel.
not my usual hilton treatment

Have a gold VIP card and usually get treated very well. Not so sure this time. Room small, no fruit had to ask twice for water. Glad it wasnt my first Hilton experience or it may have put me off. On the plus side very convenient location near to shops.
Good room, shame about the views...

The Hilton is located in the city centre and is quite tricky to get to by car and about a 15 minute walk from the railway station. The hotel is about 12 years old and in quite good decorative order although some of the carpets are a little threadbare on the stair treads (and there are plenty of stair treads on the long corridors). We booked a two-night stay for our anniversary using Hilton Hhonours points - which meant that the rooms were actually free, but we still seemed to come away with quite a bill... what with the expensive breakfast (a good choice with cereal, continental and fried, but pricey) and off-site parking charged at £15 per night (although there are about 10 spaces out front and our car got left there). The front-desk only had one person working on it whilst we were there and she wasn't particularly quick or helpful. The reception phone never got answered so I ended up walking down to ask a question... The room, however was better: a deluxe double which had a huge bed and was nice and spacious with a good-sized clean bathroom with excellent, powerful shower. The rooms were quiet with no sound from adjacent rooms. Also a nice temperature but no noisy air conditioning. The three large windows unfortunately all opened onto concrete spaces with air-conditioning equipment - no views at all. Though as an office block was being built across the road there wouldn't have been much of a view anyway. There was a large TV with game console but the range of channels was limited and picture quality poor. No mini-bar or fridge (there was a kettle though) which was a shame as we'd brought some champagne with us and couldn't cool it. So we improvised by hanging it in a plastic bag out of one of the windows (it was snowing so good and cold) - conveniently one or our concrete spaces had no other access to it so was private and safe for a bottle of wine! The bar were happy to lend us an ice bucket even though we'd not bought anything to drink. We couldn't face eating in the hotel as there was an Abba-tribute band "performing" which wasn't quite to our taste. But there are a number of restaurants and bars nearby. We'd booked to see a musical at the nearby theatre - the hotel was perfectly located only 2 minutes walk, which was great as it was raining. The Hilton is a pleasant hotel, but expensive, and the service was a little lacking. It was disappointing that the views were not better but the room quality itself made up for it.
ooooooh, brilliant!

Well, I guess its just what you expect from hotels when you go here, but I certainly didnt think it was gonna be anything special.......... BUT IT WAS I took my boyfriend for his Birthday and we had the weekend package deal! we paid £100 for 2 nights, and we got a brilliant free dinner on the first night, with 5* service, so lovely, and well worth it, as on the menu it actually cost a fortune to buy normally, and the next 2 mornings we filled up on the best breakkie ever, even sausages for vegetarians!!!!! it had everything you can imagine, with a friendly vibe, and just amazing staff!!!! DONT FORGET, THIS PLACE HAS A FREE POOL AND FITNESS CENTRE TOO!!! A wonderful low lit quiet pool, with jacuzzi, and steam room and sauna and a gym, what more DO YOU WANT!!!!!???? The room is nothing amazing, just a nice clean room ,and nice clean bathroom, views for us were a bit dismal, but who cares, for 3 stars and the price, i felt very special and was treated this way by the staff!!! Get the weekend deal, well worth it!!!

Dump, do yourself a favour and sleep on the street. You will get a better nights sleep, not be ripped off at every turn and I guarantee the foods better. You wont have to pay for service which is surly and objectionable.
Great Location, Great Service but a room with a view of a building site
from Sophia123
We booked a standard double room at Hilton Nottingham via their website for our weekend stay. We drove up from London and once we were in the centre of Nottingham we were confronted by many roads as a No Car Zone, Milton Street being one of them. Although we could see the hotel there was no way of accessing the Hotel unless we drove into the No Car Zone. This could have been made clearer either on their website or the email booking confirmation. The hotel offers a Valet Parking for £15 per night and as the hotel were in walking distance to many attractions it was a bargain. Places in walking distant includes: theatre, cinemas (and Screen Room – the world’s smallest cinema), shopping centres, Nottingham Trent University and Nottingham Castle. The ATM is afew steps away from the hotels entrance and John Lewis is just a minute away. There are many bars, restaurants and night clubs within the vicinity but what also comes with it is the huge student population. The hotel bar and restaurant is ok and nothing special – for something cheaper and nicer eat out. For that extra special dinner try IMMO Italian restaurant opposite Nandos. It is about a 3min walk. The hotel’s breakfast buffet was impressive, from fry-ups, cereals, fruit, pastries to porridge. Our double room was on the 5th floor with a view of a building site. The room included a modern bathroom, ironing board with iron, trouser press, tea / coffee making facilities, TV with a pay for a film and Playstation option and internet access. The downside of our room, apart from the building site, was the squeaky floor and bed. We were able to hear our neighbours walking up and down their room, and I’m sure they could hear us. Even at 3am tip-toeing to the bathroom was noisy! All in all the hotel staff are friendly and we had access to the swimming pool, sauna and steam rooms. A great opportunity to unwind. It was a great weekend away and we returned to London relaxed and with a good impression of Nottingham. Would we return to Nottingham and to the Hilton… most likely!!!!!
A Good Experience

We stayed here for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay very much. The room was decent size, clean and quiet (except when the fire alarm went off on our first afternoon there). The location is very good, right next to a big mall and close to other shopping and eating areas as well. Our only complaint was the cost of the Internet connection -- 15 pounds per 24 hours !!
OK if you're not in a hurry....

We were going to Nottingham for a Rock Concert (yes, honestly). We wanted somewhere central, near the venue, and to allow us to explore Nottingham. The Hilton could not be faulted for location - right in the City Centre and very close to all the shops and the venue. We also booked this hotel for the leisure club, and were not disappointed. The pool is excellent and there is a steam room, Sauna and Jacuzzi. The rooms were OK, nothing stunning but we've seen worse. Bathroom was good size, bright and clean. We booked direct on a special two-night package including dinner on the first night. The food was good and the staff tried very hard, but they were obviously overstretched and it took absolutely ages. It was about an hour between sitting down to receiving starter; it took about two and a quarter hours in total for the meal. The wine we selected was 'out of stock' and we were offerred an alternative. We decided we'd order another wine from the list instead, but this was also 'out of stock' and we were offerred the same alternative. We gave up and took the alternative. I was glad we were on a package deal. The standard prices are over the top. The price of drinks in the bar is also very high. There are planty of bars and restaurants nearby if you're not on a package deal. Valet parking is a very convenient service. Over several days it could be expensive, but possibly no more than using city centre car parks. Can also be inconvenient if you need your car regularly or at short notice. We were only there two days and didn't need the car in between so it was great. Overall, great package if you can get a deal.
This hotel is very deciving, it looks awful from the outside but then you walk in and the reception and bar looks posh. The carpark is stupid, £20 a night and very small but we had to park in Trinty multistory carpark across the road and that was cheaper £16 as unless you... more
