Wow super modern hotel. Me and my husband only stayed at this hotel for 1 night but wish it could have been longer.
Hotel bedroom had a shower room with very modern fixtures and fittings.
Bedroom was laminated floored and had access to the internet. Hotel was situated in the centre of York and very conveinient for all amenities.
The only drawback with this hotel was the breakfast - it was continental not full English. Thats fine as long as you like daanish pastries for breakfast.
Whole hotel was very clean and modern - staff very friendly.
Would recommend.

I was surprised to see positive comments on this page - particularly about the two things that irritated me enough about this place to bother to write a review.
The breakfast - When we stayed we found what there was of it to be stale and couldn't even manage to eat any.
The staff - we found them very unfriendly and unhelpful.
Particularly depressing when you consider the ridiculous prices they charge (although maybe the price was similar to similar hotels in York at the time? I don't know)
I gave these hotel two points for its modern decor and central location but this is also a location that becomes very busy at night and can often become rowdy.

The Ramada Encore is a wonderful, modern, clean hotel with friendly and efficient staff. My new husband and I stayed there for three nights, midweek, as our honeymoon. Ok, it's not the most romantic of hotels, but we had all the romance, scenery and history less than 5 mins walk away!
We would definitely stay there again should we decide to go back to York. The only downside, which has been mentioned, is the laminate floor in the rooms. We had a family staying next door to us, so there wasn't much peace! But if you get a top floor room, you should be ok.
Overall, a very pleasant experience.

This hotel is in a fantastic location, the staff are friendly and efficient that is where the good points end.
The floors are laminate making for a noisy stay, the front door is locked at 10pm you have to enter via the back door which is down a poorly lit alley.
There is a nightclub right next door and the front rooms are on a main road which also makes your stay quite noisy.

The Ramada Encore in York is a...
10 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr Jack Lowe

The Ramada Encore in York is a brilliant, modern hotel with great facilities. It is ideally placed as it is a quick walk to the river and the main town and there is a great chippy just up the road.
The rooms are clean, modern and comfortable. The facilities in the rooms include a good TV, kettle (with tea, milk, sugar etc.), hairdryer, coat hangers, good pressure shower and plenty of towels. I read some reviews saying that the windows don't open wide enough; that is NOT TRUE. There is a release button on the side of the window. The only down side was there were a couple of stains here and there.
The continental breakfast was fantastic, with a great choice of drinks (cappuccino, tea, coffee, fruit juices etc.) and foods (croissants, other bread and pastry foods, cereal, toast and fruit). The breakfast room was clean and modern, but there is one tip: Try to have breakfast before 9.30 because it can get a bit crowded after that. The breakfast runs from 7-10am.
Like the hotel, York itself is 10/10. There are many activities to do in the town (these include Jorvik, boat cruises, York Minster, Cliffords Tower, Ghost Walks and much, much, much, much more) and outside town (these include walks around the Moors and picturesque countryside villages). I have two more tips: If you do a Ghost Walk, do the Original Ghost Walk of York, which begins at 8pm outside the Kings Arms Pub. Secondly, go on the Yorkshire Wheel, located next to the Railway museum, you go round 4 times, it has disabled access, you don't have to jump on and off (unlike the London Eye) and the views are brilliant.
Overall The Ramada Encore Hotel and York itself score 10/10.
I hope this review proves useful for you.

This is an excellent value hotel, particularly good value for families.
Central York location, easy walk to all the attractions.
Clean and modern. Bedrooms a little on the small size for a family of 4.
We requested a top floor room, at the rear of the hotel and at the end of the corridor - result: quiet and undisturbed stay.
Rooms at the front overlook a busy road into central York.
The floors are all wooden laminate so I would guess may be a little noisy for occupants on lower floors.
Breakfast was very good, no hot food but plentiful. Fruit, cereal, toast, bagels, pastries, yoghurt, cheese, juices.
Staff are friendly and capable.
All in all, excellent value in a central location. Similar prices to travelodge/premier lodge but in a league above with a complimentary breakfast - recommended but ask for a high floor room at the rear.

Jun 2005, Mr s Payne

The hotel itself was very clean, friendly staff. The rooms are large - no air conditioning. Lovely big bathroom - walk-in power shower.
The breakfast although continental was plentiful and good choice.
Parking is some 2 minutes away - expensive 25-00 for 2 days but 24hr security
But ...... Our room overlooked the main road - outside of which was a set of traffic lights and opposite a kebab shop - which people were outside at 4am in the morning
We arrived on the last day of ascot - Saturday night was like being in the centre of new York - seriously all day and all night all you could hear were police sirens and ambulances - speaking to staff of the hotel every Saturday night is manic.
We would stay there again but would ask for a room at the rear of the hotel otherwise you will not get any sleep whatsoever - too noisy
Spoilt our wk-end break really - otherwise very good hotel
