Ramada Abbey Park Hotel

Not only the hotel that requires refurbishment the staff also require a make over. Uniforms were none existent and there was a noteable absence of their prescence and professionalism although when they were found they did attempt to resolve our complaints.. Hotel is dirty, dated and should be closed down for refurbishment. However we suspect it will be a patchwork job and the general disorganised running of this establishment will continue. I, too, have just returned from a stay in the Ibis Hotel, York and would agree the hotel is not worth a 3 star. Some of the staff, particularly Rachel on the Sunday night who was serving in the restaurant, attending the bar and reception, were very pleasant and helpful but others were not quite so good (that's putting it mildly!!). We have just come back from York(24 and 25th of nov) and i have to tell you that it is not a hotel that i would stay in again Yes we know it is being refurbished we were woken 8am saturday morning by drilling and hammering. After reading previous reviews I was concerned as I was visiting York for the weekend with 3 girlfriends to celebrate a 50th.I needn't have worried! The hotel is undergoing refurbishment however guests would never know. The staff are friendly and welcoming, very glad to assist with local info about restaurants,attractions etc. The rooms are spacious,comfortable, clean, towels changed daily , tea and coffee facilities, trouser press. After reading other reviews on the Tripadvisor website i was apprehensive about my forthcoming stay at The Ibis in York. I need not have worried the staff were friendly.excellent choice at breakfast room basic but comfortable. There are some odd markings on the ceiling in the restaurant but the hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment and i am sure it will be up to scratch shortly. I would certainly stay there again.

The Hotel is in a great location only 10-15 minutes away from town centre, when you arrive at the hotel first impressions are good because the reception area is really nice but once you leave the reception and go to your room that is when you get the shock. Having read some of the reviews on the website I was wondering what the hotel was going to be like. But on the whole the visit was not too bad there were a few areas that could have been improved-better service in the restaurant we were lacking some cutlery at times but the food was excellent. The room (125) was a newer room at the rear of the hotel which was comfortable. Overall a enjoyable stay.

We stayed in a family room in this hotel in August 2006. The staff were fairly helpful and friendly and the reception areas looked reasonable for a hotel of this rating, but the room was very poor. The enamel was coming off the bath and the bathroom itself looked grubby and tired. The bedspreads were ripped and the blankets underneath were 'pilled' and looked ancient. Only one pillow was provided for each person. At breakfast the coffee machine wasn't functioning properly so the staff's answer to this was to remove the lid and hoover it out!... more

Booked 1 night stay - a Sunday - through Superbreaks for family of 4 . Read reviews after booking and was dreading it! When we arrived we were early so after parking car in hotel car park (plenty of spaces although very small)we went for a walk round York city centre, which was about a 10-15 minute walk away.
