Quality York Hotel

Before booking this three night break in York, as usual, I did my homework on Holiday Watchdog.
The Quality Hotel had only one review that seemed too good to be true. However, I decided to take that review at face value and was certainly not disappointed. Other than one small negative comment, see below, I really can't add any more to the previous reviewers comments.
The location is less than five minutes walk from the castle museum, the rooms are exceptionally clean, they are slightly small, but acceptable. The decor a little too contemporary for my taste, but again very acceptable.
The icing on the cake is undoubtedly the staff, they are courteous, pleasant, conversational, and very well presented, being a credit to the hotel.
The only minor complaint is that the breakfast, included in the room rate, was at best warm. Despite overhead food warming lights almost all of the cooked breakfast was tepid to warm.
The food quality was extremely good and varied, the dining room comfortable and this encouraged us to dine there. The food on the last evening was as good a quality as the breakfast and the price including the necessary bottle of wine was just under £40, very good value!
The car park is over the road from the hotel, but is less than 1-2 minutes’ walk to reception, there's an additional cost of £5 per 24 hours parking, in a major city good value.
Over far too many years I've stayed in hotels around England and Wales costing from £50 to £200+ a night and can honestly say this is the first hotel in almost twenty years I have no real complaints about.
Would I stay there again, you bet ya!
And remember that if this tempts you, phone and book directly with the hotel, truly, they do offer the best rates.
