Recent 4 star accredaition ...........?
I am a regular visitor here and I can say that with the exception of one week in may when they were trying to be awarded the extra star the service overall is very disappointing. The staff english is poor, the service at reception is utterly terrible no one there or too many customers with queries. For the cost of the rooms I would recommend spending a little more and visit the Aztec hotel. a far superior level of service and consistent...................................
Management response from RamadaGrangeGM

When we were awarded four status back in June we did indeed take our service up to the next level. Since that time we have worked hard to consolidate this and you will now find extra staff on duty, more staff at peak times - particularly in reception and a general lift in the levels of service across the hotel. For your next trip we are sure you will notice the difference and see a consistent four star hotel!

Disappointing
Unfortunately I did not take a look at Trip Advisor before we booked into the Grange. While not the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, there were lots of little things which took the gloss off the trip. For example: the shower head was poorly fitted and the only way a decent jet of water could be had was to stuff the head with toilet paper. The mattress had seen better days and did not give a good night's sleep. There were only two sachets of milk provided which was barely enough for one person let alone two. Overall the rooms... more
Management response from RamadaGrangeGM

Now this is to prove I listen and act! Our bedrooms have now completed their upgrading and feature brand new Hypnos beds in every room, a new power shower system and four sachets of milk in every bedroom as standard - with fresh milk in a jug free from reception should it be required! We have made many more improvements than this - but I know these are the ones that let us down with regards to your stay last time...

Average Hotel, Good location
I have stopped at this hotel a number of times for business purposes and hence have not had to worry about how much it costs. The hotel is in a beautiful location (wonderful mature specimen trees) but still only a few minutes from the motorway. The rooms are average both in terms of size and decor and mine have always been clean. Not sure if it'd be value for money if I was paying for it myself. I'm glad I don't have to pay for breakfast as it appears to be very pricey for what you get and colleagues have experienced similar... more
Not what we expected from other reviews
Having read some of the other recent reviews of this hotel we almost decided to cancel our weekend break. We're glad that we didn't because our experience was quite different from that reported by other visitors. In fact, we found it difficult to fault the hotel for the quality of service and the charm and efficiency of its staff. Service - both in and out of the restaurant - was quite simply excellent. The room was clean and tidy and the meals in the restaurant, whilst not exceptional, were of a good standard with reasonable... more
Great Staff
The only thing that saves this hotel from being extremely poor is the staff. Rooms are average, setting is beautiful but the food is awful. Even the breakfast. Put a good Chef in here and it would be the perfect relaxing break.
Always check Trip Advisor first!
This is my new mantra...Always check Trip Advisor before booking a hotel! Dont know why I didnt this time and it was a lesson learned. The hotel has a dated feel about it. Paint is peeling all over the exterior and even even interior paint is looking tired. Wallpaper borders are scuffed, walls are painted in gorey colours and generally uncared for. The room was not good value for money and not spotless. The bathroom had a shower that was useless and only warm. The bed was uncomfortable. But the best bit was being charged twice... more
For the price - terrible
Room not cleaned - hair in the bath and sink, half empty shampoo, stuff still in the bins int he bedroom and bathroom. At dinner, in a half-empty restaurant, the waiters were deliberately avoiding people's eyes - walking straight past, eyes front, no way you're going to attract me! The dinner was OK, nothing more, and when I ordered another drink, it was forgotten until I was having my coffee. Breakfast, same game, I was having my breakfast and watched another guest come in, wait to be seated, eventually go to a table which had not... more
