Stayed at the Jury's Newcastle for 1 night on business. Hotel was well presented, centrally located and was easy to access from the train station. Breakfast was okay, nothing special, but standard 3 star. Room was okay and well presented. Bed and pillow was a bit hard -... more

A pleasant modern hotel near the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne. Modern, efficient reception and spacious public areas. We had a large, odd-shaped room with a very generously sized bathroom. Very comfortable, warm and clean but quite anonymous. Excellent buffet breakfast... more

Great Location, Spot on Value for Money
We stayed here on a Friday night mid-September and thought the location of the hotel was great for all the different 'sections' of Newcastle's nightlife. The front desk staff could not have been more helpful in recommending places to drink and eat and finding us a map of the city centre. The room was large and very clean and it looked newly decorated. Also the window actually opened which is such a bonus in city centre hotels! Contrary to other reviews, we didn't even see any bouncers despite returning from our Friday night out at about 2.30am a little bit worse for wear. Overall I would really recommend this hotel if you don't expect any frills but like clean comfortable rooms and good but non fussy service.
Excellent hotel, perfect location!
A friend and i stayed here for a weekend at the end of August and thought it was excellent! It took us 2 minutes to walk from the train station and check-in couldn't have been simpler. We were on the 7th floor and had no noise, despite the fact the hotel was full of stag and hen parties! The hotel is in the perfect location for everything, bars, restaurants, shops... we got a train to metro centre for £1.90 each return! Bargain! We ended up having a great laugh with the doormen, no hassle from them at all! We had a ball and will be back again for sure!!
Not for business travelers
This hotel fills up with Stag and Hen parties and is a complete waste of time to stay at if you're there on the weekend as you won't get any sleep. The management put a room of stag party participants (4 guys with 1 double bed and a sofa bed) in the room next door to me (single female). I was up all night listening to them get wasted and invite girls from hen parties into their room. Complete nightmare and I won't be back.
Nightmare Hotel - and a complete rip-off
The attitude of the hotel was appalling. Beware of the bouncers who patrol the corridors at night time and accuse you of making noise. I was in bed watching TV on my own when the door to my room was almost taken off its hinges. Outside were two very large bouncers who said there was a complaint of noise from my room. I told them they obviously had the wrong room and let them see that I was on my own - and there wasn’t even so much as an apology – just a “turn the TV off”. I felt very intimidated by them. I am well travelled and have never been treated like this in a hotel in my life. There was some noise from hen and stag parties throughout the hotel. When checking in the hotel demands you pay a £30 bond per head (i.e. £90 per room) and if there is any noise this money is not returned. This was not mentioned at the time of booking, otherwise we would have looked for other accommodation. Friends in our group were charged £75 without explanation or reason (she used her debit card as security and the money was deducted without forewarning) and we met a group of girls from Derry who were also charged the same amount. I will never stay at this hotel every again and I would advise others to take heed.
Clean and efficient
No car park so had to park accross the road - at a cost to us - might have expected a reduction for being a hotel guest, but no. Hotel clean and rooms 1st class. Breakfast excellent and plenty of it. Bar prices expensive £3.10 for a half pint bottle of woodpecker cider - £3 for pint of Guiness!!!!
perfect place to unwind spot on!
could not ask for anything better if you are looking for a place to chill after a great day out shopping 5 mins walk to eldon centre train station 2 mins away rooms dead on and staff very helpful WILL BE BACK TO STAY AGAIN ! MICHAEL (BELFAST)
Ideal for weekend break
Two friends and I shared a standard room for a weekend break. Overall we were all impressed with the room which was clean and big enough for the two nights. The double bed was comfotable but the sofa bed was rather noisy and a bit to springy. The shower was very good and there was plently of complimentary shower gel. We did not use the bar or restaurant but the bar certainly appeared busy all the time. The hotel is very handy for the train station and is only a short walk from the bars and shops. As mentioned in previous reviews you do get interrogated at the door coming back from a night out so make sure everyone takes their key. The several doormen could of been a bit more welcoming.
Good average hotel, nothing more, nothing less.
Steady for a one night business stop. New typical modern Jurys, room ok, facilities ok, breakfast ok. Very close to railway station so easy to leave bags there and pick up before moving on by train. Absolutely how a down the line 3 star should be, functional, nothing more nothing less.
Terrible doormen!
We have just returned from a weekend at the Jurys Inn and will never be staying again. Trying to find the hotel at night was a bit of a nightmare as it is next door to a building site. As mentioned in previous reviews the hotel is in a gay area which did not bother us, but its a 5 minute walk to non-gay pubs and clubs. Our double room was quite claustrophobic and room cleaning did not happen! (the maid said she would be back later when we questionned her - but did not show). Breakfast at £9.50 a go, was so not worth it- not much on offer and hardly hot!. When returning from a night out we were greeted by two burly doormen, demanding to see our keycards before we were allowed in. We obliged and then he looked at me and asked where was mine, despite the fact the card showed two people were sharing the room. I told them that I had left our other card in the room and I was then escorted to the front reception desk where I was questionned on what the room number was and which name it was in (away from my boyfriend!) - I was made to feel like a prostitute sneaking into the hotel. Naturally we complained and was told this was fire safety practice, despite the hotel not actually knowing who was in the hotel and who wasnt. We will never be returning again. BEWARE!!!!!!
Good All Rounder
Stayed long weekend Jan 05 Family Room booked, excellent value for money, good size, well decorated and superb location just set off main centre. Bar/Rest area good amibance with friendly staff. Downside (yup all hotels have them)......... hen/stag party's welcome so can let down plush entrance feel to hotel, although in hotel's defence do accomadate these parties on top floor rooms. Parking - yes there is but what failed to state was off premises i.e local NCP style car park and at £20 per day charge. Offloading car on forecourt ok but that's as far as it got. Good base for shopping and all important city partying!
