De Vere Slaley Hall Hotel

Slaley Hall Hotel is located within 1000 acres of Northumberland countryside with good communication links to the A69. It is within reasonable travelling distance of both Newcastle and, although further away, Carlisle and provides a sound base for travelling around the North East of England.
The approach to the hotel is through country lanes, with a cautious glance at the sat/nav causing me concern. My wife told me to trust it and hey presto we were there.
On the approach to the hotel I was struck by the imposing view with good surrounding grounds which we confirmed the following day. The hotel covers a large area and take some time to get used to.
Facilities are good, with bars and leisure facilities of a good standard. the pool in particular is great for children with a water slide that my daughter loved. Although I am not a golfer, I understand that the course there is very good.
The rooms were comforable and spacious, although not the most modern that I had stayed in, no flat screen tv's here.
The staff were pleasant, with the food first class. If you choose to dine in the main restaurant be prepared to pay thirty pounds a head for food plus the drinks bill, which for my wife ran to £9 a glass.
In conclusion, I enjoed my stay here and would certainly return.

This hotel is magnificent. A converted listed building with many historic features, yet modern facilities inside.
The leisure club in particular was very nice. Clean changing rooms, excellent pool, well equipped gymnasium, sauna steam room etc. The rooms were luxurious and room service was of a high standard.
The buffet style breakfast included in the price was also of high standard. Excellent choice of fresh produce cooked to order, or buffet style if preferred.
Excellent hotel. Highly recommended 5* in my book!
