I recently stayed at the village hotel in leeds. The room and stay in general was ok, but I had problems after checking out. When I arrived there was just £25.00 left to pay for the room (deposit had been paid) I was told I had to give credit card details for my stay,... more

Me and my boyfriend went here for valentines day. Dinner was okay quite expensive, though the wine was nice, and service was quick. The bar staff were great very friendly and willing to help. Was disappointed there was no cocktails on the menu and when we asked for one it... more

My boyfriend and I decided to go to The Village Hotel for his birthday. What a massive disappointment! First off, the taxi driver ripped us off £16 from Newcastle Central Station to the hotel. On the website, the room looked very comfortable and contemporary. However,... more

The facilities are excellent; we spent a full day in the hotel enjoying the gym and pool. Food is delicious, particularly in Salinger’s. Pub atmosphere is very relaxed during the day at the weekend it's much livelier. The rooms are well equipped with Iron, Trouser Press,... more

Good basic hotel with excellent facilities. Gym and leisure centre is great and so are the pub and restaurant.
Staff was super friendly - always available to help out. Special thanks to the night porters who were very helpful.

Brilliant
Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and we had a brilliant time here, we could not fault the hotel or the staff on anything, the staff were brilliant and could not do enough for you. The rooms were lovely and spacious and we were provided with basic toiletries which was handy as i had forgotten to pack mine. There was a wedding on the weekend we were there but we never heard a sound from anybody and we were only on the 1st floor. All in all i would definitely recommend this hotel and i would stay here again no worries.
short break
Excellent location, very central with easy access for Newcastle or the coast. Reception staff excellent. There was a couple of functions on, on the night we arrived and the staff put us on the third floor so we could get a good nights sleep. No noise was heard from other guest throughout the stay. The room was nice, clean and spacious. The little extra's such as tea, coffee and horlick was included in the price. Breakfast in the morning was a well organised. Everything was fresh and well presented. Nothing was too much trouble. The waiters and waitresses were polite and always greeted you with a smile. we would definately stay here again.
Would recommend .....
My husband and I recently attended a Wedding at the Village Hotel and stayed overnight. I was impressed with the spacious, clean and modern hotel. The staff were friendly and polite. Our room was spacious and nicely decorated with a large very comfortable bed. The bathroom was modern and clean. Breakfast the next morning was excellent; a great choice and nicely cooked food. Overall, impressed and would definately stay again.
Appalling way to run a hotel
I arrived about 17.30 on Tuesday 25th April, tired after a long journey. My work had arranged the hotel and I had a confirmed reservation. Speaking with the receptionist she also confirmed that I had a reservation bt in the next breath apologised that the hotel did not have any rooms available as they had overbooked. I was assured that a reservation had been made at another hotel just a short distance away and that they would pay for a taxis for me to get there should i need one. I tried explaining to the receptionist that I didnt want another hotel , was tired and all I wanted was to go to my room. I didnt get anywhere until I spoke with the hotel manager who found a room for me. As a colleague was also staying that night I checked about 19.00 and was told that he definitely had a room reserved for him. I quickly told him as he did not plan to get there until later that same night. We had arranged to meet the following morning for breakfast at 8am and so when he hadnt arrived for breakfast by 8.20 I phoned him to discover he was staying at another hotel because when he arrived he was told that there was no room available. Being too tired to argue he just went to the other hotel. I ate at the 'Village Pub' and had the Chicken Tika Masala which came with what must be the smallest naan bread ever . Although not the best curry I've had, despite the horrible naan it wasn't too bad. Breakfast was surprisingly good, with the bacon cooked exactly how I like it, however there was not a huge selection. The service was too good - I went to get myself some more juice and a croissant returning to the table to find that the waitress had cleared my table, toast, drinks, everything! Staff were friendly and polite...
Healthworks not v. healthy and doesn't work for me....
I am a member of the gym and thought i'd try healthworks which is the treatment area. I went for a massage at £45 a shot. It was possibly the worst massage ive ever had.... i put this down to the therapist being tired and not putting any effort into it, so i tried again requesting a different therapist.... strangely enough, the lady from my first experience came to greet me and I had to politely say, i didn't want the treatment with her. This annoyed me as i clearly stated when i booked that i wanted someone else. The room had a bright light in the shower cubicle which was turned on throughout the treatment. A waiting taxi was announced twice over the tannoy during the session, hardly relaxing i thought. The therapis seem to be consistently poor. No real effort is put into their treatments, and although ive had the same treatment twice now, the method was different each time. I thought espa treatments were like brands which should be same procedure whoever does them. I didn't get into til 15 mins after appointment was due so i made sure this hadn't eaten into my session as it did the last time. Poorly trained girls, i will not be going back.
Busy but nice
We stayed here on the first weekend in February for one night and enjoyed our stay. From the word go the staff were exptremely friendly and helpful and went very much out of their way to accomadate a couple of requests we had on arrival. One lady on reception even phoned through to the hotel bar and requested the England Rugby six nations match to be showed on the TV screens for us once we had refreshed in our rooms. We found the food to be of good standard although the atmosphere in the bar could get noisy with the speakers on full blast and above certain tables we sat at. The restaurant was ok but nothing exceptional. It was small and very bright, not quite giving that intimate experience. The hotel boasts both great leisure facitlities and event areas but this only lead to difficulties in our experience. The hotel was often overcrowded in all areas, with people (guests and non guests) coming and going all of the time. Another problem with this is you raraely have any chance of requesting a late check out beyond 11 am as they always have a large wedding party who are wanting to check in early (according to the receptionist). This shouldnt cause you a problem, unless like us you dont fly from Newcastle until 6:00 pm and the extra couple of hours in your room would really be of benefit. The only other thing I found a problem was the lack of a fridge or mini bar in the room. Many four star hotels now have them, and with room service only available between the hours of 6:00pm and 10:00pm you are often found walking downstairs to the bar. A small inconvenience I suppose but isnt that why hotels get there ratings?? All in all a decent hotel, but dont book here for a quiet, relaxing evening on a weekend unless you mind a bit of hussle and bussle.
good experiance
Good hotel with above average rooms Reception and leisure club staff friendly and polite Leisure area first class and if you time it right after the end of work rush then you don't have to wait for equipment. Breakfast excellent but had one bad experience in the bar restaurant. Not the best position for shopping but idea for business travellers.
Nice Hotel
I recently stayed in this hotel with my wife and 3 year old daughter. The rooms were clean and spacious with all the Sky Sports Channels! The staff were all very friendly especially giving a lot of attention to children. The pool was great and we used it every day. Breakfast was also very impressive, with a good choice and plenty of seating. We did not eat in the restaurant so I can not comment on that. All in all I would definately stay at this hotel again given the opportunity.
Nice Hotel - Poor Restaurant
We stopped for a long weekend at The Village Hotel in September 2004. The hotel is located on a business park about 6 miles from Newcastle upon Tyne city centre. We found the room at the hotel to be fine with all the usual facilities, the movie and sports channels on the TV were free which was good. The only noise we heard was the occasional banging of doors down the corridor but this was no real problem. Our toilet blocked on the first morning but was cleared as soon as we reported it to reception and you can't ask for more than that. The leisure centre is very nice with a large pool and good gym facilities, in the leisure centre is also the coffee shop which provided good service both times we used it. We also used the "pub" on site, we found it to be a friendly place although a little bit too smokey. The only other negative was that they were showing a football (soccer) match on the Sunday afternoon and had the volume way too loud, they did turn it down after a comment at the bar so it wasn't a real problem. We had steak sandwiches on the Sunday night which were very nice. Now for the Salingers restaurant - what a shambles, the food was too cold or overcooked, they didn't bring salad plates when ordered, they brought our starters twice and the list could go on. The lighting in the restaurant is awful, it is the brightest room in the hotel and the layout is like a slightly upmarket Little Chef. We found breakfast was ok and Sunday lunch was very good but the evening meals were poor. We would recommend eating in the pub or getting a taxi into the city centre and eating in the many restaurants there. In summary a fair hotel, a bit too far away from town with a dodgy restaurant hence the "average" score.
Perfectly adequate motel
Nothing too special, but visited here in 2002 and found it clean and run efficiently. Room small and fairly basic, but no complaints. Big leisure club, but seems to be used mostly by locals not guests. Don't pay too much and you should have no complaints.
