Me and my boyfriend went here for valentines day. Dinner was okay quite expensive, though the wine was nice, and service was quick. The bar staff were great very friendly and willing to help. Was disappointed there was no cocktails on the menu and when we asked for one it came in a glass bottle with a lid on it! The restraunt was fully booked on the second night so we ordered room service, came within 20 mins and was nice. Reception is hard to contact as they dont answer the phone. We eventually went down to reception and ordered toilet roll and towels..we waited 3 hours for these and eventually went to the asda and got our own. The keys for our room also never worked and we had 3! The rooms are well decorated and clean but very basic, the beds were so comfy u didnt want to get out them in the morning. The leisure club was great and we loved the spa tub.Breakfast was also very nice and you were left to do What you want with the buffet. All in all it was a nice experience but i think it is only awarded 4 stars because of the leisure club, the rest is quite basic although this isnt a problem i would have expected more.

My boyfriend and I decided to go to The Village Hotel for his birthday. What a massive disappointment!
First off, the taxi driver ripped us off £16 from Newcastle Central Station to the hotel.
On the website, the room looked very comfortable and contemporary. However, when we got to our room it was extremely dated with flowery borders and pink carpets. The duvet cover looked like someone had been sick on it!
The hotel was sort of in the middle of nowhere and none of us could drive at the time so there wasn't much to do. We did visit the pool which was nice but it soon lost its thrill.
We ate in the restaurant there which was terribly overpriced for a pub style restaurant. Since there was nowhere to go at night we ordered room service. The menu (which was very limited) was printed on a tiny card. I ordered a stir-fry and my boyfriend ordered an Angus beef burger with salad and chips. I'm not joking but the stir fry was just saturated in oil and I couldn't eat it. My boyfriend's burger was dry and the coleslaw looked like someone had chewed it and spat it out.
After our visit to the hotel I complained about the food and eventually got a refund. The inclusive breakfast was a free for all buffet. The food was greasy and it was just awful.
This stay was a complete waste of time and I definitely would not recommend it!

The facilities are excellent; we spent a full day in the hotel enjoying the gym and pool.
Food is delicious, particularly in Salinger’s.
Pub atmosphere is very relaxed during the day at the weekend it's much livelier.
The rooms are well equipped with Iron, Trouser Press, hairdryer and internet connections.
The hotel is a bit of a distance out of the centre, which can be difficult if travelling by public transport, but once your luggage is there the 15-20 min walk to the nearest metro station is not a problem.
The same station (Shiremoor) can be used for both the city centre (monument and central station) and for Whitley Bay and the coast.
This was the second time we have stayed at this hotel and if in the area again we will no doubt be based at the Village.

Good basic hotel with excellent facilities. Gym and leisure centre is great and so are the pub and restaurant.
Staff was super friendly - always available to help out. Special thanks to the night porters who were very helpful.

I recently stayed at the village hotel in leeds. The room and stay in general was ok, but I had problems after checking out. When I arrived there was just £25.00 left to pay for the room (deposit had been paid) I was told I had to give credit card details for my stay, presumably for room service etc. When I left the bill was just £25.00 which I paid cash. Two days later I was at a supermarket checkout with my weekly shop and my card would not authorise payment. On further investigation I found I had enough funds in (£90.00) but available balance was only £20.00 this was because the hotel had kept a reserve of £70.00 which took a week to clear. I had no money for food until the following week. The village hotel offered no apology, explanation or compensation, in light of this I will never visit a village hotel again and urge everyone to do the same
