After reading a bad report on this hotel. I was not looking forward to going.
Our holiday was a gift from my four children for my 60th birthday and also my husband’s birthday. They had also arranged for four of our friends to accompany us on this 4 day trip.
On arrival we were greeted warmly and directed to our room which was overlooking the gardens and fountains. The Staff, Food, and rooms were excellent value for money.
Although whilst we were there, four weddings and two parties were taking place in the hotel, the service was great and the staff eager to please.
The food was a carvery with plenty of choice for everyone with three courses and coffee and tea to follow in the bar. Breakfasts were full English with cereals. Juices etc all piping hot too
I would not hesitate to recommend this holiday as good value for money as would all four of our friends.

We chose the Royal Court Hotel because reading about it and looking at the pictures of the hotel I thought it looked and sounded like the perfect place to spend our long awaited honeymoon ... a few much needed quiet days away from home and work.
How wrong we were ... we arrived on Thursday afternoon and were pleasantly greeted and sent to our requested upper floor quiet non smoking room. A good start ... the room was on the third floor and the hotel more like a block of flats not the lovely Tudor House Hotel in the brochure, although well kept and reasonably clean looked a bit worn and tired in places.
Upon reading the hotel literature we decided to visit the bar and order a carvery meal for a reasonable price of £8.95 each... we were shown into the restaurant to have our carvery ... such a lovely wood panelled room in the Tudor part of the hotel ... but imagine our surprise when the bill came and our carvery was now £15.95 each because we had mistakenly sat down to eat in the restaurant and not the bar ... but it was a lovely meal and the staff were pleasant.
The bar during our stay was very overcrowded and so we didn’t spend much time in it as there was never room to sit down. During our 4 night stay there was at least 4 coaches staying at the hotel at any one time and there was a wedding taking place that lasted 3 days and was quite intrusive to the hotel entrance hall and downstairs facilities so we were confined to our room in the evenings.
The second night the fire alarm went off at about midnight but it was a false alarm, the walls were so thin that the noise of the TV from the next room woke me several times during the night.
The third night we arrived back at the hotel after a day out to find the room had not been cleaned we had no clean towels and a barking dog had moved into the room next door.... upon complaining I was told the cleaning staff wouldn’t be back till the next day and they couldn’t do anything about the dog in the room next door... but we were given clean towels an hour and a half after asking for some.
On the 4th night after another day out we returned to find that thankfully the barking dog had left but our room had yet again escaped the attention of the cleaning staff. I was really upset by now that our honeymoon and my birthday break had been spoiled by the hotel staffs lack of organisation and care. Again the staff said there was nothing that could be done and by way of compensation and offered us a bottle of champagne as if that would in someway make the last four days of upset disappear.
I declined the offer but did accept a tray of sandwiches from room service and a couple of clean towels. Even our departure from the hotel didn’t run smoothly as, unknown to us there had been an armed robbery in the golf club next to the hotel and the hotel’s only road in and out had been taped off by the police crime scene investigation squad and no-one was being allowed in or out .
This was out of the control of the hotel but it would have been nice if the staff had informed us of the facts when we handed our key in preventing an hour an a half’s wait in the hotel lobby!
Overall opinion of the hotel a lovely facility, overcrowded poorly maintained and badly managed!

We went for a quite two night stay away from the kids. Ooops not the place to go for that, most Saturday's and Sunday's they have Asian weddings with around 500 guests (Asian weddings not an issue at all) but they do specialize in them and they are rather big events. Friday evening we were advised by a member of staff to 'go out for the day on Saturday, because it would be noisy and very busy'. Saturday there were people everywhere, no car parking spaces left and the wedding takes up all the main reception area with food being prepared and tables out for guest to have food, when we went for our evening meal we had to push through hundreds of guests to get to the restaurant and same on the way out. Could not use the computers as guest were using them to sit on eating food, gardens were being used by lots of wedding guests and ceremony taking place in them as well. Very very loud late into the night. On Sunday again another wedding and reception area was laid out with table and chairs this time with food being prepared, ceremony taking part in the garden and again normal guests feeling as though they are intruding!
If the wedding like normal hotels takes place in a room there would not be a problem but when it takes place throughout the main hotel area this is not acceptable.
Shame because not bad hotel, bit dingy and in need of modernizing but cheap break which turned out to be a very noisy and busy one!
