Shame about the weather !
The check-in went without a htich. The room was basic. Despite the national no smoking policy we would smell cigarette smoke it was coming in through the bathroom and separate toliet air vents - incidentally the separate toliet was a plus. Breakfast (currently £12 and self service) Eggs were rubbery and the bacon tough.. My kids would not eat them. The continental option looked more appealing, the restaurant staff did not seem to notice when any of the items ran out. The restaurant was in partial darkness when we were shown to a... more
OK(ish)
Stayed here in February for 2 nights on business. Unfortunately I got the train and the hotel is at least £10 in a taxi from the train station. As the office which I was working in was in the Centre as well I managed to run up about £60 in taxi expenses in 2 days! The hotel itself is directly facing the M6, probably the worst view imaginable although to be fair I wasn't on holiday. The bar and restaurant area was better than the exterior of the hotel suggested. I ate in the restaurant both nights, the 1st night was very good but the... more
Do not stay here!!!!!!
Stayed here expecting a nice hotel! What we got was Fawlty Towers reincarnate! Do not stay here! The hotel lobby may look presentable but the rooms are dark, dingy, stuffy, dirty & small! The mattress was filthy & half way during the night it had fallen off the bed while i was sleeping! The Hotel staff didn't do a lot to help & the bathroom was also cracked & worn & the tap didn't have any water pressure, so safe to say that this Hotel stay was not a pleasent one. The Restaurant doesn't have a great selection of food, location isn't... more
Above average business hotel
Stayed here on business recently and it's absolutely fine. It's not the prettiest of buildings, inside or out, but the rooms appear to have been recently refurbished, have very nice bathrooms, are spacious and clean. The food in the restaurant was above average, though like all hotel restaurants, a little over-priced, and the staff were really friendly. For events at the Ricoh Arena, this is probably one of the most convenient and reasonably priced places to stay.
Great bargain
Booked through activehotels.com and paid £40 for two adults and two children for a saturday night. For starters im applauding the double/king size bed, everywhere else i have been has been two singles pushed together. The children had two z beds which were actually really comfy. Our window looked right out onto the carpark - but it isnt noisy at all. The reception staff are a bit simple. And the food was quite expensive, but for a cheap weekend getaway it was fantastic value for money. Ps, there's a really nice... more
Faded but friendly
The reception areas were bright and smart, but our room was in need of refurbishment, particularly the bathroom which was a bit grim. The breakfast was well above average and the staff very helpful.
Old and in need of refurbsihment
Rooms are rough around the edges, in desperate need of refurbishment. Apparently the oldest Novotel in the UK according to the receptionist, and it shows. However, excellent food (recommend the steak) and comfortable lounge area.
Euros fiddle and a used condom
Checked in OK, room seemed OK with everything you wanted (except enough milk for more than one cup, but that's a universal problem, it seems). Tried their restaurant for the evening meal - had to point out the kids eat free offer (the sign was virtually right next to them). Duck a l'orange should be renamed 'latex which hasn't been within 100 miles of an orange', raw vegetables, kids pizzas that looked like someone had vomited on them (large chunks of peppers only - how many kids do you know who like peppers?) and overpriced.<br... more
Room Holding
Arrive early to this hotel. If they want to fill a room with someone else they will. As for your booking - faxes get lost, staff don't know who you are and say that you must have not confirmed properly.
