Hilton Coventry Hotel

Stayed here for 1 night just before Easter on my way to Scotland. Arrived at the hotel about 10.15 pm and was checked in very efficiently by the reception staff who were quick and friendly. They even offered to keep the restaurant open if we hadn't eaten dinner. The deluxe rooms are a little dated, but were clean and warm. There was wine, chocolates, fruit and mineral water provided and HHonors members were also offered a free drink in the bar. As a Hilton Gold VIP I try and use the Hilton's for the free upgrade to the club rooms and some of the other benefits that brings. This Coventry hotel did upgrade me to the 4th floor (Club floor). The room was fairly nice, if a little tired. Outside it was a very cold March night, and my room had no heating switched on. It took a while to warm up. I stayed here with a large group of colleagues for 4 days. We were working night shifts and needed to sleep through the day. The first day I told reception that as we would be working nights, our rooms would need to be serviced ready for us to return to them at 9am each day. I was told that would be no problem. I had read all the reviews and was a little apprehensive about booking but as options of decent hotels in that area are limited i felt we had no choice and now I'm glad we did! We found the hotel with no problems at all. Went straight to it infact. The inside is plush and the reception staff very proficient. We visited this hotel for a Pre-Christmas, 4 day, weekend break. It took us an hour to get from our home to Coventry City. It took another 1 1/2 hours to locate the hotel, which is in the middle of an industrial estate, with no local signposting. The directions supplied by Hilton were useless. On entering we saw that the lobby/cafe area was cluttered with discarded glasses and remains of meal on all of the tables. I had reserved a suite at the hotel for the purpose of business meetings over the Sunday afternoon. I arrived at 3pm.(check in is 2pm) to be told that due to a dog show weekend (pit bull terriers) the room was not serviced and I would have to wait. I finally got access to the suite which had not been serviced properly and stunk of dogs. there was no soap or towels in the suite and i was told by a member of housekeeping to use my bathrobe until the clean towels arrived. the lounge carpet had not been vacuumed either. on going to the bar... more

What a hopeless hotel - which certainly doesn't deserve the cache of the Hilton name. Just about everything about the hotel was bad - and the low point was after having sent back a bottle of white wine for being warm - the wine waiter brought a bottle of red which was then plunged in an ice bucket! Won't be going there again!

The pool was small and extremely busy. Not really a place to unwind and relax at all. Disappointing. On inquiring about the beauty salon where i thought a massage would be an alternative, i was informed that the beauty therapist didnt do massages!!!! Strange for a beauty salon. The beverages and snacks in the the hotel were priced high. You may prefer to venture out and find more reasonably priced restuarants in the local area.
