Whilst working at the NEC I had the honor of staying at this hotel for a week. I booked through a late availability website and was pleased that I only paid around £60 for a double room for B&B. The advertised rack rate of £145 is certainly not worth it and in its current condition never will be. On arrival I had some convincing to do that I was indeed staying for 7 nights not only 1 as they insisted. That sorted I was given a room on the road side of the hotel which was clean and tidy although in need of redecoration. The... more
good value
We stayed at the coventry hill hotel for one night on a national holidays mini break.Although the decor in the room had seen better days it was clean and comfortable. We where on breakfast and evening meal basis and both meals where excellent being semi buffet style. We found the staff very friendly and helpful. The bar prices where reasonable a pint of fosters at £2.20.A nice touch was free tea or coffe in the lounge the staff regularly topping this up. I would give this hotel the thumbs up to anyone the staff are great
dirty shabby noisy hot uncomfortable little pad overlooking the motorway
having had a booking to stay at the Leofric muddled up by an online booking agent we found ourselves in a taxi heading out of Coventry and arrived at an 8 story concrete tower block on the outside of a pretty village ... the door handle was taped on the front door, and in the foyer the carpet was frayed, the service was poor and the wall paper was peeling ... up to the 8th floor thinking at least we will have a view and into a room that was resemblant to the black hole of Calcutta - so so so hot and so so noisy - no view of rural village or... more
Never Again
Booked in for 3 nights due to working at NEC. First night, pensioner fell over the till cable in restaurant, went flying into a table - luckily did not appear to be physically hurt although staff not really aware of any consequences. I was requested by chef to collect evening meal at 7.45 as buffett was now closing! Next morning boiled eggs served sitting on top of cream jugs. 2nd night went into restaurant for evening meal after a very long day & was informed that the restaurant was closed that night (Friday). I had to resort to room... more
Management response from A TripAdvisor Member

The Coventry Hill Hotel is well known for its friendliness & hospitality. We understand the importance of our guests comments and always respond to any complaints we may receive, unfortunatly we have not received any details of this complaint via our head office or directly to the Hotel. However we can advise that we do not serve boiled eggs or cream for breakfast. Our Restaurant like most establishments has opening & closing times & this information is provided by information booklets within the bedrooms. Bar Snacks are available & we do offer a room service menu. Should anyone have any concerns about the Coventry Hill Hotel or require further information please do not hesitate to contact me, and I will be more than happy to assist.

Must be one of the worst Hotels to find if you come through Coventry City Centre what a mistake that was in the dark. Only booked it because there was nowhere else at a reasonable price. The management of the hotel must have no shame. The television in room 823 was completely dusty, no hint of cleaning for some time. Lets make the beds sort out the bathroom and get out the room. The remote control batteries were missing though the remote control neatly placed on top of the telly. I thought it was game for a laugh trying to switch the... more
much better than expected
haviong read some reports we were very sceptical. However, our room was very clean, beds very comfortable,we were on 8th floor! Rooms must have been refurbished fairly recently. Staff friendly and helpful Restaurant excellent, only £12.50 for 3 course carvery. Staff all spoke and understood English which was a surprse,(having stayed very close by last year and no one could understand us and visa versa!!) Could not fault this hotel,ok, it is an oldish conrete block in style but the inside is fine.
Better than a park bench (just)
Dilapidated, shabby, concrete building, staff who are doing you ever such a big favour by giving you the time of day and rooms that look as though they haven't been cleaned properly since the place was built. The bed was unbelievably lumpy and uncomfortable, the decor shabby, the bathroom fittings were leaky and the bath itself was just filthy. You are better off staying at the Leofric in the centre of the town (not great, but better than the Britannia). You won't sleep well here. Give it a miss.
a disgrace
dreadful service, not particularly clean, bar toilets a disgrace.......rooms sparcely furnishes, overall very shabby
