Quiet nice hotel, poor service
I stayed at the hotel for one night. The hotel was very busy, with a wedding, a murder mystery event, and what seemed to be a birthday party all going on at the same time. The communal areas of the hotel were very busy, and although there seemed to be ample car parking provision, finding an available space was a challenge. The room was comfortable, and although a little small – but not unreasonably so – made good use of the available space. The room was quite quiet, although friends staying at the hotel with us found the room to... more
Nice Hotel, Naff Service
My Wife and I stayed in the hotel after a wedding reception, held in one of the function rooms. The hotel is well presented and located in lovely rural surroundings, the room was also well presented with a good sized, clean bathroom and comfortable bed. The hotel has a lot of promise but unfortunately falls down when it comes to service. The reception staff were inept and did not answer the phone. There were only two barmen at the function for 200 people. One barman, who was serving us drinks in the residents bar untill 4AM was... more
Don't stay here
From the minute we got to the hotel everything was a disaster. We arrived at 4pm wanting to have a quick shower before we went out for the rest of the day and the evening. We were suprised and disgusted to find that the rooms were not made up, still dirty from the previous person so we dumped our bags and went out. When we told reception they didnt seem to care, it was as though we werent actually paying for the rooms. The corridors were disgusting, not what you would expect from a hotel that you are paying £150 a night for.... more
Lovely Hotel but terrible service
We stayed in this Hotel for 2 nights to attend the Wedding of a friend. It's very lovely with comfortable bedrooms and is situated off the road in quiet country surroundings. However that is where my praise stops. The service we received from the moment we booked in to when we left was second rate. It seemed as if they were under staffed for the whole weekend. Such a pity as it has the potential to be a fabulous Hotel.
lovely hotel
Stayed here end of April as wedding anniversary treat. Our room wasn't ready until 3.30 despite us checking in at 2.00 - we had free drinks in the bar but couldn't understand why the delay of an hour and a half. Had a lovely room (42) with a good size bathroom but it was above the outside door to the annex bedrooms which banged pretty constantly and was really annoying. we stayed on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis and the food and service were faultless. You do have to watch the dinner menu tho as a number of the... more
Nice enough hotel but poor service
The hotel is in a nice setting and our room was spacious, with a comfy bed and pillows and a decent bathroom. However, the food and drink prices are far too expensive and the service, from checking in to ordering room service, was awful. Maybe we just stayed when they had their most inept staff members on though!
Pampered but bar blows budget
Stayed at BH for a pamper break, we had booked a superior twin bedroom, the bedroom was a nice size but the bathroom was old and tired and needed regrouting and a rusty disabled handle that we kept hitting every time we went to the toilet. were allowed to check in early, and hotel take security swipe of card which they add £50 on to the cost of the room but don't actually tell you. The Spa was lovely apart from getting the hard sell on the decleor products the whole time when you are meant to be relaxing!!! Had massage and facial... more
A Decent Hotel - Avoid Weekends For Better Service
We booked this hotel for a relaxing break, paying a very reasonable rate for DB&B for two nights. We didn't get one of the refurbished rooms, and for a twin room it was pretty small and well-used. We arrived on Saturday and there was a wedding party in. The service in the dining room that evening was slightly hit and miss but breakfast the next morning descended into farce as all the wedding guests and everyone else seemed to arrive in the dining room at the same time. The hot buffet ran out, a large queue formed, and we sat... more
Not bad at all!
Given the pricing (I pay £72 for single B&B)this hotel is a cut above most in that price bracket and certainly beats the options in Coventry city centre hands down. The lounge and bar areas are pleasant and relaxing, the bedrooms clean and well appointed - altho' the new wing rooms are far more spacious than the older rooms. Breakfast is cooked to order, rather than the ubiquitous buffet of solid scrambled eggs and semi-cooked bacon found in most hotels. The staff are friendly and do their best but are in many cases clearly not catering... more
Bland
The problem with this place is that is that its too remote to be accessible but then too much like a blandly realised Travel Lodge to be a relaxing country retreat. The restaurants not bad and the staff were nice enough if very incompetent. This place is more of a venue for business events I think, which is what I was on, the problem with this is - see my last sentence.
