Nov 2007, Miss J Davies

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on business in November 07 and had a great experience. The hotel was superbly furnished with all the modern facilities. It was just a ten minute walk to the centre of Liverpool which was ideal for my needs. The staff were very... more

After reading the previous review I was a bit apprehensive about staying in the Radisson, however I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is in a quiet area within walking distance of most of the centre of Liverpool. The staff were friendly but professional, the rooms are... more

Where does one start? The leisure facilities are a JOKE - you have to go down, to go up to go down to the pool. That is after you have gone either past a drafty front door or even outside to only go in the 'Trades man's' entrance. The pool and spa water is cold and the... more

The nicest hotel in Liverpool! Urban luxury in a great location.
Stayed at this hotel for two weekend nights to celebrate my anniversary and was in no way dissapointed! After booking into the hotel, I read some of the negativity on reviews on this website. All I can say is that I'm glad I took little notice of such comments as they seem to be reffering to a different place altogether! When I arrived at the hotel, I was professionally and courteously greeted by a member of reception. Check in was fast and pleasant and the staff member ensured that all of my needs were provided for. At this point, I must mention that the interior of the reception is delightful - a large, open-plan space with a glass roof, allowing good natural lighting and a nice open feel. checking into the room was delightful as I reaslised that my requests has been catered for. The bed was extremely comfortable, the mini-bar was well stocked and it was more spacious than most hotel rooms I have stayed in, and with an excellent LCD screen television. Furthermore, we had an absolutely spectacular view over the Mersey estuary. The bathroom was delightful - well stocked with shower gel and shampoo. We used room service twice, the first occassion to order a bottle of Champagne on ice (arrived within 4 minutes) and the second time to order food from the tremendous Fillini restaurant downstairs. Spectacularly, the food was delivere with Waiter-service in the manor you would expect from a top Restaurant but actually in the bedroom! A great touch for such a special occassion. The only bad thing about the hotel was having to leave after spending a weekend in luxury! There is only one other hotel in Liverpool that offers the same quality as the Radisson - and I would without question chose the Radisson again. Well recommended.
good but loud
spent 1 night a saturday to do some shopping and site seeing well located hotel nice rooms only negatives mini bar expensive and due to the design of the hotel all the noise from the ground floor travels upwards and in to the room but would recomend it
Star treatment 4 a student !!
Just back from a weekend in Liverpool and a stay in the Radisson. Found the whole experience to be absolutely perfect, most noticeable factor was the staff and the friendly 2 all attitude. As a student with a low budget, travelled to Liverpool for the football with my partner and was given the star treatment. The hotel is full of business types and couples and this helps to keep the atmosphere in line with the cool surroundings. The suite had a excellent view of the mersey and yes the bed was two joined together, echoed in another post , but still very sleeper friendly !! The Ark health club was excellent and all the facilities were clean , fully functional and helped to add to the star treatment factor. Drinks in the hotel are slightly pricey, but due to the good location the pubs and clubs of the city centre are only a 10 min walk away. The only negative point would be the ultra expensive mini-bar , be warned stay away when intoxicated or else wake up to find a star sized bill for a few nibbles !!! Other than that i will definitely be back just to soak up that chilled vibe , well worth the extra few pounds to your usual big city hotel chain. On checking out the next morning bumped into the entire england football team, which just added to the wow factor of this great hotel !!!!!
Appearances can deceive
When the Radisson opened, it was hailed as the hotel in Liverpool offering 5 star facilities. It has not reached that point yet. The first thing one notices is the tower which is always seen in the photos is not actually part of the hotel. We stayed as a family and our welcome was friendly enough. Was irked that no free newspaper was offered and the parking situation is terrible. If the meagre allotment of spaces in the NCP nearby is filled, one is directed up a side street to a not very safe looking car park. There are two types of rooms with the ocean rooms looking over the mersey. We got the Urban room which looks into the offices over the road. The room is comfortable but no better than a travel lodge. The bathroom was ok but beware the shower as it shares controls with the bath and takes several soakings to get right. Breakfast was fine but I thought dinner which is served in the same restaurant would result in a different atmosphere. Nope! No tablecloths! The food was pretentious and in small servings and certainly better food can be found elsewhere. The health club is very strange. The staff seem to be there to talk to their friends. There is a very strange situation where you walk up to the changing rooms and then have to descend stairs to the pool. Ascending after swimming can be quite treacherous! The pool itself is tiny and if more than 3 people try to swim there are no lanes left. That said most of the staff were friendly but the hotel has long way to go to deserve 5 or even 4 stars.
Super
Stayed here just before christmas with my company for our staff party. Obviously we were all had loads to eat and even more to drink and all in all we had a great night out. We went up to the Kings suite for the Christmas party night and danced the night away. Stayed in a sexy red room with views of the mersey. Cant wait till next year!!!
If you want bad service and rudeness then this is the hotel to go
This hotel is awful and thats from someone who lives in Liverpool. My husband and I stayed at this hotel after a going in to the city for a meal and not wishing to drive home. We booked a kingsize room in club class but was informed that they do not have kingsize, all rooms are twin with the beds zipped together to make the king. Afer tossing and turning most of the night though lack of sleep I called room service because the two separate beds were off different heights the springs had gone in one of the beds. I was informed that we would be moved to a kingsize room. I thought you do not have kingsize rooms ? yes we do was the reply, so at 2am we moved into a kingsize room leaving our belongings in the other room as it was to late in the night to pack up, On checking out I complained to the manager with regards to the room allocation and was informed that he was unable to do anything as we swopped rooms so there is not a problem when I informed him that we did not want to have to move rooms we had booked a kingsize room in the first place, he became extremly rude bordering on the agressive. The room cost us £150 00 for the night. I'm sorry we did not just pay for a taxi home. If anyone is thinking of going to liverpool take it from someone who lives here don't stay at the Raddison as that type of bad service is not excceptable.
Be careful what you leave out in your room!
I left prescription medicine in my room. Was thrown out by the cleaning staff. The Hotel staff were not very helpful in assisting me to obtain replacement medicine. Complaint addressed to the Managing Director of the Company and sent to their Head Office was completely ignored - to this day I have not even had an acknowledgement of the complaint! As a result would not stay in this or any other of the Radisson SAS Group.
Very Red Rooms
We were staying for a wedding on a Saturday and we arrived with little time to spare, before rushing to the Church. No parking, which is not the biggest deal, but I was not even offered valet. I was pointed to a side street and told there was an NCP up the road. The room was red, VERY RED and reminded me of a premier lodge. In fact it was an identical layout, but the fixtures and fittings were better. Breakfast was okay, but no glasses for juice etc... In fairness it was very busy. Not as good as other Radisson's that I have stayed in. Manchester wipes the floor with it.
Very stylish hotel
Myself and 4 other girl stayed at the hotel on bonfire night for a friends birthday. Loved the rooms very stylish, with flat screen tv's. Only problem was there were no drawers for our personal stuff, but other than that very pleased with the rooms. Staff were very friendly especially when we were having breakfast, they couldnt do enough. The breakfast was excellent, had everything you could possibly want from cooked breakfasts, to fruit to waffles. Wasnt very impressed with the restaurant filini's though. The food was ok but very expensive, the menu was quite exclusive so didnt really account for the average persons tastes but other than that would definately stay here again and would recommend it.
Wow !!
After reading the previous reviews I was a little aprehensive about our visit to the hotel- I even considered cancelling the reservation, but I'm glad I didnt!! This hotel is amazing, the layout, the bar and restaurant and particularly the rooms are all very modern. We stayed in an Ocean room overlooking the Mersey, the views were fantastic. The rooms were clean, the room service we ordered was delivered efficently and with a smile. The staff in the hotel were very helpful- especially the Front Office staff who suggested places for us to visit and eat- they booked us restaurant tables and taxis throughout the week. The concierge providied us with a map and detatils of all the tourist attractions to visit. NOTHING was to much to trouble for any of the staff and we found them all very genuine and friendly people. We will definately be returning to this hotel in the future and reccommending it to all our family and friends!
