Liverpool Marriott South Hotel

We had a 6am flight from Liverpool so booked in here for the night. We booked an upgrade on line but this had not come through when we arrived to check in, so with a few minutes of checking the receptionist found us an executive room and did not charge us in the end. The room was beautiful, i just can't describe how big and comfortable the bed was. The bathroom was a decent size with a good shower. I love the building, I love the rooms and I love the breakfast BUT this hotel is totally ruined by its wedding functions. Noisy drunken louts smoking and swearing downstairs and if you are unfortunate enough to get a room above the function suites then forget all ideas of getting an early night.

Stayed two nights here - part of birthday present from children, as I had always wanted to visit The Beatles exhibition in Liverpool plus I was able to visit relatives I hadn't seen for years! Hotel was excellent - room was large, bed enormous! However, there was a wedding party on the Friday we arrived (after a long journey via M5/M6) and we wanted a meal - had to wait until 9.45 for a table - food quite good, but found waiting staff a little wanting - we had starter and main course, were still in restaurant at 11.30, but no one asked... more

We loved the Marriott. We normally stay in pretty faceless hotels, so this Art Deco monster was a treat. We were able to check in early, which was great, although the receptionists were trying to serve about 4 people at a time. Breakfast was superb. There was a bit of a wait, due to the amount of wedding parties staying, so I recommend going down a bit earlier than 10am on a Sunday. A great hotel if you love art deco. Wonderful room, comfortable bed, free parking, lovely art deco things in the room. 2 weddings were on when we stayed and it was a little noisey but I have to say I loved the hotel and would stay again.

So very very disappointed. It was my husbands 50th birthday and I took him there for a suprise break. We normally go to the Marriott Worsley Park in Manchester which is excellent and assumed this would be the same for Liverpool South. There were dirty tables, local children running and playing in the corridors, a gang of lads swearing in the bar. The food in the restaurant was inedible. There's no doubting the beauty of the art-deco frontage of this hotel. I love art-deco, when buildings were built to be eye-catching, built to convey the fashion of the times. This is not a soulless concrete and glass box designed to maximise interior space and to hell with what it looks like. Whilst not built to be a hotel, it is not incongruous with its purpose today. We have just returned from a very special weekend based at the Liverpool South Marriott Hotel close to the airport. A very attractive Art-deco building with a service that matches this pleasant building. With a combination of excellent food and service we were very satisfied with our stay at this hotel and shall certainly make a return visit.

We returned today after an overnight stay at this excellent hotel. Everything was perfect and we cannot praise the hotel hightly enough. The breakfast was the best we have had in any hotel and the rooms could not have been more comfortable. Hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly. With the use of the David Lloyd Centre and the hotel restaurant we didn't feel the need to venture any further. My boyfriend and I just returned home to Los Angeles from a trip to Spain and England, and since our flight from Spain arrived late (11:00PM) I wanted to book a hotel that was close by, and would have good rental car accessibility since the second half of our vacation was driving through England.
