Best Hotel in Liverpool
This is the best hotel in Liverpool in my opinion. I have stayed at the Thistle, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn and this is the best. The staff are extremely friendly, breakfast was superb with a wide range of food and attentive staff. Fantastic!
very restful hotel
We stayed overnight on friday to see a show (chitty chitty bang bang) at the Liverpool Empire. We were pleasantly surprised by the standard of the hotel and how quiet it was especially located in the middle of this busy city. The staff were amazing , the girls on reception, John the concierge and the dining room staff couldn't be friendlier. The bed with its beautiful pillows kept us comfortable all night. Altogether a great experience. AND the theatre is only a very short stroll away.We will definitely return for a longer stay soon.
Clean but Noisy
Stayed at the Liverpool City Centre Marriott for a long weekend with my husband. We were given a standard room which was small but clean but which overlooked the bus station. Friday & Saturday nights were extremely noisy with people shouting & singing outside the hotel until at least 3am. If you stay here, ask for a room at the back of the hotel!! Bed was comfortable but on the small side. Dinner in the hotel restaurant is very expensive & main courses come without vegetables - these are available at a supplement. Breakfast was decidedly average, however staff were very friendly & efficient. Stay here during the week, but find somewhere quiter at the weekend if you want a good night's sleep!
Great place to stay
I stayed here three nights on a business trip. Didn't have much time to go and see the city, but the Hotel was in the middle of it anyway. It took about a minute to walk to shopping area as well as to pubs and various restaurants. Two minutes from the Cavern. Room was nice; clean, big enough ( I mean BIG in English standards) and nicely decorated. Bathroom was also big and comfortable. I enjoyed breakfast very much. Service was okay and staff very friendlly. I couldn't hear any noise from the streets nor the other rooms. All in all, I have no complaints whatsoever. If I ever go back to Liverpool (which I'd like to do) I don't have to think another place to stay!
Good Location
We stayed in this hotel in late September 2006. The hotel is modern and clean. A good night's sleep was had by all. Its location is in the city centre - close to the shops and museums/galleries. Its also just a block from Lime Street Railway Station. The hotel was happy to hold our luggage for the day we booked out. The only problem encountered was a very confused front desk but it was all handled with good humour.
Nice for a weekday stay not weekends
Overall nice, but the weekends have lots of partying college-aged people being loud at night. Good for business but not weekends. Stayed there over a long weekend, the second such long weekend stay here. My co-worker is also staying for 8 weeks. Hotel is nice, and is less than one block from the Liverpool Lime Street rail station. Walking anywhere in the city centre is less than 15 minutes. There are nice restaurants across the courtyard, and a bus terminal on the other side of the building. The rooms I stayed in on the 5th floor are slightly larger than a comparable king room in America, but remember, king beds differ in size all over the world -- these are like "full" sized American beds. Bathroom was nice but had lots of mildew in it, especially along the grout. When I called about it, they had someone re-grout and re-caulk the tub! Also, the phones would not dial an outside line (kept dialing the front desk) and they had to fix that too. My two cautions are: 1) This is right downtown. Unless you get a room with a view of the back courtyard, you will get a good amount of traffic noise. But at night, it is very quiet as the traffic dies down to almost nothing. 2) If you are staying on a Friday or Saturday night, do not expect to get a full night's sleep. Liverpool is famous for it's bars and clubs, and LOTS of people go clubbing until the early morning, and then yell in the hallways. The front desk is not responsive to such complaints. It has happened each weekend I was there and each of the 6 weekends my co-worker was there, every time.
Great staff, great location
I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on consecutive weeks in Seotember 06. This was a business trip and we also used the meeting facilities. Got a good price (less than on the internet) by phoning the hotel. The first week I was upgraded to an executive room which was spacious and everything you would expect. The next week I stayed in a standard room which although smaller was still a good size. Both rooms were immaculatelty clean. I took advantage of room service several nights as my meetings finished very late. The food was good and service excellent. In fact the staff at this hotel have probably the best approach to customer service I have everr come across. Without exception all the staff including those involved with the conference facilities were very very helpful. Location is excellent being only 10 mins at the most from Liverpool Lime St station.
Best night's sleep I've had in a hotel
We arrived on a sunny evening and got a top-floor west facing room and and our first impression was of a really inviting, comfortable, spacious, airy, fresh room. So appealing after a long day driving that sister didn't even go out to dinner, she wanted to enjoy the room. (Her room-service burger was dreadful, she says, but there were lots of places to eat immediatly nearby). The cooked part of breakfast was not particulary inspiring either, but everything else was good. Good range and choice and quality to the rest of breakfast, pleasant friendly waiters, pleasant friendly helpful reception, very nice clean bathroom, nice toiletries, lots of proper hangers, (didn't nick them) and best of all, the most comfortable hotel bed I can remember and the best hotel pillows I've slept on. I loved the shower curtain too. Good location so long as you don't want to overlook water. If you have a wide car, access to the car park is quite nerve-wracking, but £10.00 for overnight on-site parking didn't seem unreasonable for a hotel in the dead centre of the city. Overall, definately to be recommended.
Nice rooms, great location
As Marriott's go, this is ok. It's quite a new building, and everything is bright and airy. However the rooms are a touch on the small side, and the bed was not a King as claimed. The air conditioning was totally useless - and it wasn't in the height of the summer. The check in staff are very friendly, and the concierge are amazing. The real plus though is the location - right in the city centre, and it's located in an entertainment complex with some restaurants and bars, though it's not far from anything really. Breakfast is appalling - limited selection, and looking (and tasting) like it had been out all day. The bacon actually squeaked like plastic when you tried to cut it. Not up to the normal famous Marriott standard.
Good rooms, good location
Stayed here for one night on business. Had thought Marriotts were fairly run of the mill so was agreeably surprised: - large room - good bed linen with loads of pillows; quite luxurious - friendly and helpful staff On the negative side I suppose you can always find a few points. I was surprised to find the adult movies so prominently advertised and vividly described and imagine that this could shock or offend many people. Breakfast was as is often the case ludicrously expensive, but the plates were dirty (or came with ready portions of egg if you prefer). No milk was brought with the tea and coffee which seemed a bit dim of the staff. I had tried the bar the previous evening. The bitter seemed bizarrely fizzy and lager-like and a burger came with very burnt (carbonised) bacon. Overall though, good.
