I booked in last night Found room smells out dated and rough looking remote didn't work and they told me to use buttons which didn't work right so they said nothing they can do and the breakfast looks like it has been warmed up from yesterday morning
I would not stay here even if it was free

It was OK for a bargain break, but don't go there for a "treat"

Very central - all the attractions I wanted to visit were within a 10 min. walk. Public rooms are glorious - chandeliers, ornamental plasterwork, pastel colours. And I met some very friendly people.
Lifts are a joke. They respond to the last command given - each time someone gets in, you need to re-press for the floor you want or you will go to where they want! Three days I walked down from the sixth floor and once in despair, I walked up six floors!
Bedroom: too hot. I don't expect to sleep in a cotton nightdress on top of the bedclothes in February, but I had to, to sleep at all. Lighting: attrocious. Two table lamps with 40 watt bulbs. The only place to read without hurting your eyes was sitting on the loo. Couldn't open the filthy window.
Food mediocre - but wonderful desserts!

I stayed in this hotel for work as it was hosting a conference I was attending. The welcome was very unfriendly - outside in the street I was hastled by drunks thrusting their special brew in my face and asking for money. The room was old, smelly and dirty, there were empty packets of crisps stuffed down the side of the bed! The lifts and slow and there are not enough of them to transport the number of customers the hotel seemed to have, 6 floors in high heels is a lot!
Breakfast was disappointing, I was a lone traveller and they showed me to a table that needed clearing as there was a free unused space, when I pointed this out it was dismissed as not important. The buffet was almost empty and I wasn't brought any tea etc. I appeared to be too young to be served properly, this hotel specialises in OAP coach tours from what I could see. I brought this to the attention of the staff they were rude and dismissive.
There is no parking and I felt very unsafe walking from the ncp to the hotel in the dark. I didn't go into the spa, it is extra, although this is not mentioned anywhere I could see, but I thought with a hotel this mucky I didn't want to risk it.
In all the staff here give Basil Fawlty a good run for his money, if I ever come to Liverpool again (and I have been put off as you can imagine) I will never set foot in this hotel again.

Was not what I was expecting

Myself and another couple booked two rooms this July, bed and breakfast. We had got the rooms for a good deal (about £70)
With this hotel being well known my expectations were quite high.
Our room was quite far away from the main reception, which what felt like we were underground and in the cellar! As soon as we came into the room it stank of smoke and was very stale. With us not being smokers this was very off putting. To add to this the windows you could not open. Out side out window was what I can only describe as disgustinging. There was cigeratte ends all out side and dirty used condoms. The view we had was not plesent at all. The lighting was poor in the room and the decorating was very old. My clothes smelt stale and of smoke. We tried to spend as less time in here as possible and went straight to use the hotel's facilities.
This was even more disspointing. The shower room was dirty, lots of hair on the floor and in the showers. There was no shower gel and the toliets were dirty. The seats were lose and there was no toliet roll. To add to this most of the lockers were broke, which was annoying. A member from there had to help me find a locker that was working.
I was not impressed with the pool, it was cold and looked old and dirty. The jaccuzi had a funny smell coming from it which was not at all relaxing. Overall I felt like the whole place needed seriously updating and a good clean.
My friend and I went to have our hair done in the salon. The staff there were very friendly but with our appointments being at the end of the day, myself and my friend felt rushed My friend didn't even have her hair straightened and had to do this herself, I had to ask for mine to be done.I paid £25 for a blowdry which I think she had forgotten to take off the 10% discount you were suppose to get if you were staying over at the hotel.
We did not eat here at night but had breakfast in the morning which was ok.
Overall I was very dissapointed with the room and facilites and would not return here again, which is a shame because the hotel is in a ideal location. On a positive note the staff at the hotel reception/ spa were very friendly.

Should you book into this hotel has a window providing natural light. Our window opened onto an internal stairccase so you had to leave the room to determine weather conditions. We had to keep the lights on at all times.
Car parking inadequate but fortunately there is an NCP park opposite which charges a lot less.
Not a hotel to revisit with so many modern hotels available in the same area.

I recently visited Liverpool for Five days. I booked into the Adelphi hotel for the stay. The hotel is very dated on first impression. Very little information about local events and attractions was available for visitors. The first room that I was assigned was extremely dirty and very dated. The room had not been cleaned and was totally unacceptable. The bathroom did not have a shower in it and I had to request a better room. The room I was then given was not much better but it did have a shower. Again this room was not clean and the bed was very uncomfortable and the television was a portable with four channles. The bed was so uncomfortable that i did not get one good night sleep. The swimming pool was also dirty and unfit for use. The staff were unfriendly and when a complaint was made to them about the room they were unmannerly and sarcastic. This hotel was quite expensive and offered nothing in return. I have stayed in many hotels in the past few years and this was without a doubt the worst. I would not reccommend this hotel to anyone and I will NEVER stay in it again.

This hotel needs serious investment to bring it up to current standards. The rooms are very poor, being both dated and unloved. The tariff behind the reception has prices at £299 upwards. I cannot imagine anyone paying that much to stay here.
There had been thefts from several rooms and this is quite common. The hotel is also not secure from other "workers" who make their money visiting guests.
All in all, a shocking state of affairs. Beware................

I had lived in Liverpool for a few months about 2 years ago and had always wanted to stay in the Adelphi. So me, my boyfriend and another couple came to Liverpool for a weekend and stayed in the Adelphi.
When I walked into my room it was obvious that it had not been decorated since about 1970. None of the decor was matching and it just wasn’t too pleasant to look at! The bathroom was also in bad need of refurbishing, the green marble effect plastic effect is not so attractive these days.
My friend’s room was that bad that she didn’t even stay in her room for the second and third night, she stayed with friends 20 minutes away.
I don’t think that I will be staying in this hotel again. It was very disappointing.

The Adelphi hotel is located in the Liverpool city centre area ideal for shopping, sightseeing eateries and clubbing.
The building is old style with a good frontage. The lobby and reception area is good for meetings and meeting points. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The rooms were of a good standard clean and warm.
There is a fitness centre in the hotel with sauna. I would recommend this hotel for a weekend stay.

I stayed at the Adelphi Liverpool on Saturday; I came with my partner to see Echo and the Bunnymen at the Academy. I’ve often been struck by the majestic presence of the hotel and have always wanted to stay there.
I must say I was deeply disappointed with our stay, don't get me wrong we had a fantastic time in Liverpool, the band were brilliant, the venue super, we visited the Albert dock , the Tate and the Beatles experience - all brilliant.
So why is it that the Adelphi appears not to give a care about its guests. We found the room to be shabby; the bathroom looked as though it had been fitted out on the cheap by a posse of cowboys.

The TV had no remote control so could only be watched at full volume.
The staff seemed disinterested at the best and downright ignorant at worst. I was overcharged on my bill and had to question this when I departed, it was eventually rectified. It took 15 minutes to get hold of our luggage and the porter looked like he was doing us all a favour by getting our bags released from the resident bar. The management could do with investing in some customer care training for the staff.
There is no way this could be classified as 4 star hotel, I’ve stayed in far superior 2 star hotels. The only thing 4 star is the price.
The room we were in needs a complete refurb, I was aware of some decorating going on but it certainly hadn't got to the 4th floor. I would have liked to have been told that most of the hotel is covered in scaffolding before I booked. I was looking forward to a wonderful vista of the city but this was obscured by bars, I’m sure the work will improve the hotel but I would have preferred to visit once the work had been completed.
The breakfast was ok, nothing to write home about.
All in all I think there is a lot of work to be done to bring this hotel up to standard, refurbishing and a long hard look at the staffing spring to mind.
In the mean time how about reducing the tariff. I noticed that over the road is a Holiday Inn which is around half the price the Adelphi charges.
I will come back to Liverpool as it is a great city; however The Adelphi is a poor ambassador for Liverpool.

My fiancé and I thought it would be nice to stay in Liverpool for the night and stay in the Brittania as it was a convenient walk to all the bars. Our first impression was not good.
Our room was on the sixth floor, after travelling we did not expect to wait 15 mins for the lift as there were only two lifts for 402 rooms!! We found the rooms unclean and uncared for.
There was only one small lamp by the bed that worked, after ringing reception twice they finally sent someone up to fix this. There was a crack in the window where it seemed that someone had tried to throw something at it. One pillow had what looked like blood stains on it and the mattress was dirty and soiled. The shower curtain had all scum on the bottom of it and there was damp patches all over the walls and ceiling.
We went to Jenny's Cavery for Sunday lunch which is a restaurant based in the hotel. After being served by unpleasant staff we had a bowl of cold, powdered soup and then had our Sunday lunch which was again very poor.
After this we decided it was best to go home, we parked our car in the hotel car park which cost £10.00. When we found the car, the car park attendant had left the keys on the windscreen ready for someone to steal as the car park attendant was not around.
Overall this is the worse hotel we have ever been to and not recommended.
