Holiday Inn Liverpool City Centre Hotel Reviews

Only 1 night watching the mighty reds playing Arsenal. Good location close to bars and shops and ok to get to Anfield. Rooms clean and tidy, breakfast fine, perfect for a 1 night stop over but not a long weekend away hotel, more of a 1 night stop over hotel. Hotel willing... more

Lower standards than I have come to expect from Holiday Inn
from bristol_traveller_06
I have stayed in a number of Holiday Inns over the years and this one fell below my expectations. The parking is awful, you have to use the mall carpark next door & get your parking ticket stamped at the front desk when checking out to get the discounted 24 hour rate of £5. The carpark only has lifts on certain levels so we found ourselfs trundling our luggage up & down stairs and eventually along a route that seemed to be only for cars only to be presented with a final set of outdoor metal stairs we had to negotiate before finally arriving at the front entrance of the hotel, not very nice. On arriving in the lobby, as we approached the check-in desk, staff seemed to vacate it, though eventually arrived back to process our check-in. I didn't get a particularly friendly feeling which contrasts with my other experiences at Holiday Inn's and hotels in general. Our room was nice enough, but the shower soap dispenser was empty which was disappointing, these should be filled up by the cleaning staff. Also there was no in-room compendium for services offered by the hotel. On checking out I also had problems with certain staff members not processing our checkout, going to a vacated counter I was told to queue up behind someone else & that the staff member at that counter would check us out. Not particularly impressed at all, I would certainly rate this much lower than every other holiday inn I have stayed at.
For about the same price...choose the Marriot instead

First the good news. My room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Almost everything else was annoying. Instead of a thermostat to keep the room at an even temperature, the heat was either on or off. Turn the heat on at night and wake up soon with the room really hot. I was given one small bar of soap. It went fast and never was replaced even though I was there for three nights. The TV remote didn't work and it took two calls and 24 hours before it was replaced. Some of the fixtures were made of cheap plastic. The only vending machine in the hotel was a soda machine and the stores shut down early so stock up during the day or have no snacks at night. I've stayed at the Marriot before and I liked it much better.
Surprisingly Good

Liverpool was the next stop on what seems to be my tour of the UK. It’s all part of my job and adds to the fun. Having tried to book the Crowne Plaza and the Thistle with no luck I ended up at my third choice. I have stayed at Holiday Inns in the past and found them to be adequate, but I must say I was impressed with this one. The location of the hotel is excellent; situated just outside Lime Street station and in what should be easy access to the rest of the city. The reason I say “should be” is because of the awful road works that are currently causing traffic chaos!! The hotel does not have parking facilities, however guests can use the attached multi storey at a reduced rate. (£5 per day which is reasonable for a city centre). Be warned you must have cash to pay in this car park, cards are not accepted and if you try to pay with a card, like me you will be sent to the cash point! I cannot understand this policy in the 21st century, but it’s worth remembering!! The entrance hall and lobby are tidy and I found the staff on the front desk to be very helpful and courteous. I checked in with no trouble and was served straight away. The biggest surprise was the room. Inside it was more or less an apartment without the kitchen. I had a bedroom with two double beds, a built in wardrobe and the usual facilities. An office room adjoined with a desk, chair and lots of space. The bathroom was also of a good size and appeared to be recently fitted. The room was clean and well organised. Due to the location of the hotel there is some noise at night but nothing unexpected of city centre hotel. During my stay I used the bar facilities and again found the staff provided a good service. The bar food was of a decent standard although expensive in my opinion. The bar area was pleasant and the plasma screens are ideal for the football! My one negative comment about the bar is the lack of choice when it comes to draft beers and lagers. This isn’t really a problem but I am fussy when it comes to drinks!! Overall I was very impressed with the service and facilities on offer and even though this was initially my third choice hotel I am sure I will make it my first choice when I come back to Liverpool!!
Genuinely nice hotel & staff

I agree with the majority of the other reviewers of this hotel. One could not possibly ask for a better location in Liverpool. The Holiday Inn City Centre is an easy walk from shopping, restaurants, Mathew Street, Albert Dock, museums, "08" (Liverpool's excellent tourist info office), and Liverpool Street train station. A big bus station is also nearby, although we never even needed to ride any of the city buses. In my dealings with various members of the hotel staff they were always very professional, pleasant, polite, kind and helpful. Check-in was quick and easy. At checkout, a minor error on my bill was corrected swiftly and efficiently. Since my friend and I are not big breakfast eaters, we couldn't justify buying the hotel's breakfast buffet, but on our last morning we did get tea and toast at the hotel. The toast was nice and warm, served with butter and a small assortment of jams and marmalade. An additional pot of tea was brought to our table without our even having to ask for it. Both our rooms were very nice. Everything in the bedrooms and the bathrooms looked brand new and was spotlessly clean. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. The standard rooms have no fridge or mini-bar, but there is an ice machine and a Coke machine on Floor 1. The Holiday Inn City Centre was everything I want in a hotel and I would not heitate to stay there again if / when i am lucky enough to return to Liverpool.
Great location and value.

We stayed in this hotel for a weekend in early July. It was in a great location right in the centre of the city. If you stay here there is no need to worry about needing to take taxi's to any of the major sites or night spots. Its ideal if you are hitting Liverpool for a weekend away. The hotel itself looks nothing exciting from the outside but you will be pleasantly surprised inside. Also the staff are really helpful and helped with any issues we had. Overall its good value and a great base to enjoy the city from.
Fab location

We spent 3 nights at this hotel during International Beatles Week and it's central location meant that all of the events were within easy walking distance. As other reviewers have noted it looks like a concrete cube from outside but it is very well appointed inside with good size rooms and friendly helpful staff. They even allowed us to check out almost 2 hours beyond the 12 noon deadline as we were going to be late back from a trip- almost unheard of! Can't comment on the food as we did not eat there. We were room only and we thought £13 for breakfast was a bit too expensive especially when you could get the same breakfast across the road for a fiver! All in all highly recommended and also highly recommend Beatles Week. The atmosphere in the city was fantastic.
Super stay as usual

We have returned to the Holiday Inn City Centre Liverpool for a few years now and i wish to commend the hotel and staff on their constant high standard of service and cleanliness. The rooms are spacious, air conditioned with clean beds and lots of hot water and the location is perfect. Thank you again
Super stay!

Great place to stay in Liverpool. The staff were helpful from the time we walked in. They even stored some luggage while we made a quick 2 day trip to Paris. also left car in garage. The pretty blonde haired lady at the desk(sorry her name escapes me) gave us excellent tips and advice on things to see. And helped showing us the route to our next stay. A great 2 day stay !!!!!!!
Great Location

This holiday inn is perfectly located for your stay in Liverpool. It is in the heart of the city, close to all the nitelife, shopping, Lime Street Train Station, 10 mins walk from Albert Dock. The hotel itself is very deceptive in appearance from the outside, the plain exterior in contrast to the very comfortable interior. Staff were very friendly, and accomodating with a late check out. Breakfast was top class, great view form restaurant and bar was relaxing. Whether its a tourist break, hen/stag weekend, football trip... its an ideal place to stay.
Excellent Hotel
from ukguy1
I stayed in this hotel with a relative who was passing through the airport, and it was up to the usual Holiday Inn Standard. Although it doesn't look anything special from the outside, the lobby is modern, bright and clean, the staff were professional, and the bedrooms were of a good size. We didn't use the leisure club, but it did look appealing, the bar was welcoming, and the restuarant looked good. The location is excelent for everyone, right next to Lime street, a car park, and all that the city centre has to offer.
