Hilton Southampton Hotel

We arrived for a wedding and stayed overnight special rate £85.00 B/B. The room was dark and gloomy, although it was clean it needs a revamp espically the bathroom, The food at the wedding breakfast was good but bit cold. We used the Livingwell Health Club, the gym is small and the pool should be labelled "The Puddle in the Cupboard". The Breakfast next morning was busy but enjoyable. We waited 20mins to checkout and then another 15mins till the Duty Manager arrived to correct a mistake on the bill. And not one apoligue for the delay!!! This was my first stay at a Hilton it was not the grand hotel chain i believed it to be.

OK we didn't pay the full rate of £112/night for double room - but we're still not going back, after having stayed just one night It's not easy to find - basically under a motorway intersection, though the road noise is negligible. The room was pretty standard and clean, and the staff were good. We had booked dinner - Valentines Night + our son's 18th birthday Dinner... what can I say??? Valentines day remember... we got a carvery... ok the starters were slightly above average, but they had used (jarred)vinegared mussels and dunked them in mayo, crab meat was ok and (small)shimps again in mayo Carvery could have been from your local pub - a £5/head one. Sweet - choice of 6 defrosted gateaux that Sara Lee would have been ashamed of! Charge at the Hilton? £25/head for 3 courses... Hilton? - no thanks
