Hilton Southampton Hotel

We have stayed in many Hiltons; however this one is very low on our guest satisfaction list. We wanted a quiet, relaxing weekend (as they advertise) but instead had a stressful one.
On arrival 3.30 we waited an hour for a room, although check in is 2pm " as we are short staffed in housekeeping" was reason given no problem we thought, surely a nice cuppa or drink at the bar must be on offer for the wait.
Wrong just told take a seat were call you when its ready, 4.40 and we were given our room on the 5th floor.
The room was dark dull and very grubby, the bathroom had mould, the bedroom dusty and dirty cups, we went back and complained.
We were then given another room on 1st floor by the laundry, this had the wood varnished and bathrooms were cleaner but still dusty, however we decided to say put.
Dinner was included in the deal; I rang the Restaurant to book a table and was told just turn up we aren’t busy!! Dinner was good as was breakfast.
I mentioned again on checkout, when asked if we enjoyed our stay, the condition of the rooms was told they are being re-varnished but only do 5 a month, I mentioned about the cleanliness and was told "can't get the staff".
Overall this is one Hilton we will not be going back to. A completed guest satisfaction card "Can we do more" was handed into reception on checkout but no correspondence has yet been received. Shame as nice setting.
