I would not recommend this hotel especially to anybody with a disability.
Main complaints:
1. Cleanliness -some areas required a thorough clean up, one of the bars was extremely dusty and had finger marks on the tables and doors. Carpets in bedroom needed replacing or steam cleaning, daily vacuuming was insufficient. Several areas of the building had dirty walls and a re-paint would help.
2. Room tatty, sockets needed replacing, hanger on bathroom door missing. Windows needed cleaning; walls dirty, blankets could do with replacing. Also there was confusion over the suitability of the water for drinking. A notice advised that it was not drinking water, so a jug of drinking water was supplied. But when my husband went to refill it a member of staff argued with him that the water in the room could be drunk and he was being awkward.
3. Special diets-somewhat of a joke. They say they cater for special dietary requirements, but even though they where told on booking and reminded on check- in my requirements (i.e. allergies to eggs and cows milk) this was not catered for.
4. Service in restaurant- training required in all areas especially in serving and clearing at tables. Plates where removed from eaters who had finished instead of waiting for the table party to all finish. Several of our party had their plates cleared whilst they where still eating!
5. Facilities for the disabled almost non-existent. They probably fail to meet even the minimum requirements of the disability discrimination act.
Even though they were advised of my medical conditions and were specifically asked if the room allocated would be suitable for someone who may be using a wheel chair, they said it was but it was not. The room was difficult to access and once found it was very cramped.
I did comment on this, but as the hotel was full they said they could not offer anything more suitable. As this room was booked in February they could have taken my needs into consideration. In the room the bath was impossible to use, I did get stuck in the bath which had no grab rails. The room itself felt like an obstacle course, I had to take extra care not to trip. No way could I have taken a wheel chair into this room. I did get my electric scooter to the outside of the room, but then it had to be left in a corridor by the fire escape.
So far as I am aware they did not provide a disabled toilet anywhere in the building.
They are restricted by the physical age and restraints of the building, but I do feel they could implement ramps and grab rails to assist in making this hotel more accessible.
In their favour they did reserve me a parking space for which I was most grateful, and one of the chefs called Mathew was helpful in a difficult situation, having not actually being pre-warned of my dietary requirements.
Definitely an experience I would not choose to repeat.

Have stayed in a number of cheap hotels in and around Bournemouth in the last couple of weeks, and I must say that the Tralee is a cut above most that I have stayed at.
The rate is fantastic, the room was clean and of a decent size. I got a double room, which considering I was booked in on a single was refreshing.
In addition to the double, I also had a bathtub as opposed to the closet sized showers cubicles in some of the other (more expensive) hotels.
Parking is free, and the breakfast, whilst typical of the B&B breakfasts in other hotels was both tasty and included double sausage and double bacon.
Despite the other negative review, I would recommend the Hotel to anyone staying in Bournemouth overnight on a budget. Well done the Tralee.
