I chose this hotel due to its proximity to the Bournemouth International Centre. There was ample, free, parking in the hotel grounds (which is a scarcity in most Bournemouth hotels) and the BIC was a pleasant, but not too long, walk away. As a 3 star hotel, this provides... more

We had a great time at the Riviera hotel. I found all the staff very friendly, especially the reception staff (lovely ladies). The food was great. Location was perfect right by the beach & close to Sandbanks. I really have not much else to say, we really enjoyed... more

A clean, friendly hotel with comfortable modernised rooms. Lifts to all floors meant we could enjoy the tree level view from our third floor front bedroom. Very pleasant bathroom with constant hot water even at busy times. Excellent breakfast choice from a generous buffet.... more

My wife and I enjoyed staying at the Anglo Swiss. Our room was excellent although the television was small and didn't have teletext. There was no wireless internet access. The food was excellent with a buffet style breakfast offering a wide range of items to suit all... more

Clean and friendly
I stayed at this hotel for 3 or 4 nights in early August and was impressed. I booked online paying 45 quid for a single en-suite. The room was VERY small, like a bedsit, but it was clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were foreign and looked a bit stressed or busy at times, but otherwise were helpful. Remembering that for that price I had a GOOD BREAKFAST AND CAR PARKING, I have to recommend it. I used to be a student at the university and lived in a hotel in the westcliff and saw other students room in these areas and some of these hotels are old and damp and smelly. So good work to this hotel/hotel chain.
Not good!
I and 18 others stayed at the Anglo Swiss Hotel on the August bank holiday, when we arrived we found the hotel was very nice outside and in the reception/Bar area, we all checked in and found the hotel where charging double (£120 for double/twin room per night)the amount that had been agreed (£60 per night) we found that we could not book into another hotel due to the fact there was 18 of us and the fact it was bank holiday weekend, so after lots of upset the manager gave us the rooms for £90 per night! we all checked in, 2 of the guests in my group went to their room only to find hair in the bath that had not been cleaned and also found that the bathroom has rust and scum marks everywhere! They complained to the reception and the room was cleaned. on the Sunday night we found the bars where very busy so 10 of us went back to the hotel to have a few drinks there, one of the guests waited 20 mins for the receptionist to appear to get her room key, she finally got her key and asked for a drink, the receptionist then informed her that he was the only member of staff in the hotel (with 300 guests)! And he also informed us that the duty manager had gone home with the key to the fridge with all the drinks in (soft and alcohol). We where very unsatisfied with the hotel and the staff members. I would not ever recommend this hotel to anyone!
total disappointment
Yes i read the reviews before we booked, having decided you can't always judge by what others have said about places. Well having booked directly on line with the hotel the night before 2 nights at £110 a night, i thought i would be staying somewhere half decent. We arrived late evening, the entrance looked promising, were greeted with friendly staff, then given keys to our room. Well when we entered the room i remained speachless for what seemed 15 minutes with my partner asking if i was ok seeing the shock on my face. When I had got over the shock of the sight of the disgusting room , i rang down to reception to ask if it was a joke. Paying £110 a night for this scruffy , moth eaten bed and linen, stained walls and ceiling with the aircondition vents below the only window and a bed so soft only one of us could sit on a time as it was so worn out with the springs digging in to you. The manager was sent up to see us, who said he only had a similar room left avaliable, but could reduce the room rate for us to £70. Well now it was too late for us to find anywhere else we agreed to stay that night, but used their yellow pages to find another hotel for the next night. The breakfast wasn't any better, it had been sat there as a buffet for ages and was dry and stale, we both had to run to the loo soon after eating, say no more. We couldn't wait to check out. I can't understand those people who gave good reviews for this place, how can experiences be so different? The hotel for the following night was the 'Hermitage', who were really lovely, having heard about our plight upgraded us to a superior room which was more than adequate and had a sea view, plus the breakfast was freshly cooked in the morning too. Thank goodnes for one decent night !!
Terrible rooms
On arriving at our destination for a special weekend for my wife, myself, and a couple who were celebrating their wedding anniversary,Finding the hotel looking pleasent and welcoming we checked in and made uor way to our seperate rooms, On exiting the lift the decor of the hallway was disapionting and drab, but this did not beat the shock of finding our room which looked more like a bedsit for the unemployed, We then made our way to our freinds room to find theirs in worse condition than ours with large red stains all over the carpet,And stained and grubby headboards and unmade beds we both promptley left demanding a refund which was refunded without question which leads me to believe this happens regularly, yours ANGRY and ANOYED customer
Badly Let Down!!!! Stay Away!!
My husband and I were looking forward to a weekends stay at this hotel for our wedding anniversary and had booked it up on the internet after thinking how nice it looked......However when we arrived we were soon to be dissapointed. We paid our money upon arrival and went up to our room. I couldn't beleive the state of the carpet it looked as though a murder had taken place as there was red stains of some sort all over it. The bed was tatty and headboard filthy and the bathroom was not fit to bath a dog in. We decided at that point that we would not be staying there as it was not worth the £120 we had just handed over. We went back down to reception after speaking to our friends who had joined us for the weekend and discovered they were just as disgusted as us. We got a full refund and left. After just returning home from our weekend away I have recieved an e mail from the hotel stating that I should read the hotel policy to see if i will be charged a cancellation fee on my credit card................Disgusting!!! They should be charged a waste of time fee!!!!!!
Last Minute Surprise!
I booked this hotel as a last minute for a surprise family trip away and i was so pleasantly surprised. the staff were very helpful and friendly, the hotel's location was only 5 mins walk from the beach, the food was fantastic (and they gave you far too much!), the gym and pool was lovely. The Rooms are large and spacious - they are clean and well equipped even though a bit of work on the bathroom may help! Overall really pleased and good value for money!
what a dump
we arrived for a hen weekend, to find the hotel undergoing MAJOR refurb, which we were unaware of at time of booking. the food was awful, the staff, excluding 1, were unfriendly, and plain rude. there was no hot water in 3 of our 4 rooms, when we complained we were abused! room service, forget it, no bottled water, no ice, no alcoholic drinks, microwaved leftovers, this place is worth avoiding at all costs!!!
much better than last year
we have just attended a lovely weekend ladies festival at the hotel where we have been going for a few years. Last year was really ordinary and average. What a suprise this year....a real get up and go seems to prevail with happy staff and really service minded supervision. The leisure facilities are excellent although I have my doubts about the pool housing the gym equipment. The hotel is cosy and warm and I have to say had a real buzz this year. Strongly recommended due to vast improvements and smiley happy faces everywhere....
