Myself and a group of friends stayed at Club Staffler this New Year and found the staff to be friendly the service was good, as was the food. This is a two star hotel with a five star welcome and I would recommend Club Staffler to any of my friends. The pension is situated... more

This hotel is definitely one that my partner Dave and I would go back to and probably would take the children as well. Ok, you got what you paid for as the rooms were incredibly basic with a basin in the bedroom to wash with, and a toilet and shower cubicle which had seen... more

Just returned from a great stay at the Staffler Hotel. Although their was no snow at Niederau the holiday was brilliant. Rep was fantastic and we were shipped off to great skiing at Scheffau everyday. Niederau looked very nice, had there been some snow, and I would go... more

Just came back from a weeks skiing in Austria and have to say, while the skiing and location were great the hotel/chalet aka "Grandma" as they like to call it was a disappointment. The food was superb but very small portions. If you are a big eater then this isn't the place... more

This was my second year at the Staffler and I was made to feel like an old friend. This is the nature of the Staffler and its staff. The hotel is informal and very friendly. Whether you are there on your own or as part of a group you will soon get to know most of the other... more

Having read many a review about the Club Staffler, I can say I was not looking forward to my visit. When we reached the Staffler we were greeted with a warm welcome, if not though a bit of a regimental welcome. We were given the keys to our room which was on the 2nd floor,... more

This is a great hotel, friendly staff, and good food. It is located about 5 mins walk from the first lift and with the snow we had we were able to board all the way back to the hotel (NB there is a road to cross) Neiderau is a great ski field, however I would recommend... more

Excellent location. And that is it. Not being allowed our key to our room upon arrival was the beginning of a tedious week. We had to wait until the owner/manager had given his speech. I now know what it feels like to be a sheep waiting to be dipped. The food was dire. ... more

expectations surpassed
Returned yesterday from a truly wonderful stay at the Staffler. Having read reveiws prior to and after our stay I felt compelled to add a positive and less cynical veiw... We(3 families) went with a very open mind having read a mixture of reports.( many of which were written prior to the removal of a tour operator exaggerating the truth of the accommodation). Some reveiws added failed to mention the fabulously keen prices the hotel charges.(800 euros for 4 people in 2 rooms including breakfast and a fabulous 3 course evening meal, served by some very clean, attentive and polite staff.) I have previously stayed at some 3 and 4 star hotels in ski resorts and have been less satisfied). The whole team of staff ( all British) are most friendly . It would seem that now the Management has ceased to work with a tour operator (who guarantee capacity to the hotel but who generally take the Lion's share of your money) they have a real interest in making your holiday special. We primarily went to this hotel as they had the configurations of rooms we wanted in the resort we wanted ( superb for beginners and intermediates). we shall all return next year (possibly for christmas and new year-it is cheap enough). We were concerned about the noise of the bar in the basement ( see previous reveiws) prior to departure, although the reality was the noise was minimal-in fact us 40 somethings and the kids had some good evenings in there). In summary- food brilliant, beds and bathrooms clean, management and staff truly delightful- EXPECTATIONS SURPASSED
Excellent location and fantastic value for money
I have just returned form a week's holiday at the Staffler Hotel in Niederau - I had a great time. The Hotel, I think is one of the oldest in the village - however, it has everything you need for this type of holiday and is excellent value for money. It is in a very good position just a very short walk from the gondola and the ski school, and all the facilities of the village. We had plenty of hot water, a powerful shower, very comfy beds, warm rooms and a really good home cooked, three course dinner each evening. The quality of food was excellent, and there was always a choice of main course, and the puddings were especially tasty. Breakfast is buffet style with a choice of cereals, breads, and rolls. Cheese and ham were also available along with the usual jams and spreads. There was plenty of coffee, tea, orange and apple juice, and these were available all day. The hotel has a very relaxed atmosphere and Nick, Jana and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful The cave bar is located underneath the hotel staffler, but the music was not that noticeable, and after a long days skiing, did not keep me awake at all. This hotel is great for families and young singles, and the proximity tof the hotel to the slopes and value for money make it a great choice, and I’m sure I will return again in the future. A definite plus point for me was the fact that the hotel is a non-smoking hotel, and having got used to all public places in the UK being non-smoking, this was excellent.
A great time had by all
My family and I booked a last minute holiday directly after a recommendation from a friend, this was our first proper skiing holiday. We had been advised that the hotel was basic, but warm, clean and with good food, we found these to be the case. The proprietors, Nick & Yana, provided a family friendly atmosphere, and our children had a ball. Nick also went out of his way to show us were to hire equipment and source tuition. In summary the Staffler is a great place to stay if you have children and you appreciate the reality of good value!, the location is excellent and you can treat in like you are staying at fiends house. One small criticism’ would be the smoking in the bar area, which was also a thoroughfare to the restaurant, I would hope that this is reduced / eliminated in the future, we intend to go back.
great value
Just had a week in the Hotel Staffler,22 of us in the party who have skied together for the last few years. This hotel was not the standard we have previously been to but neither was the price,Whilst the rooms are basic, they are warm and clean, the noise from the cave bar was not that noticeable and the eveing meal was "very good".Mine host Nick and his team were friendly and helpful and there was never a problem with us using the hotel as our own front room(with bar service). It worked really well for the familys with teenage kids who could use the cave bar early eveing(and some early morning) with the parents close but not with them.Whilst the local skiing was limited, buy the lift pass for the whole area and there is more than enough just a short taxi drive away. All told a great fun holiday(probally not for romantic couples),The only "small complaint"would be the amount of smoking in the hotel especially by the staff,But "hey ho" we will return back next year.Mark Englert.Northants.
Great value for money
Our stay at the staffler was great - the hotel is old and a little tired looking but very friendly , warm with plenty of hot water - this was half board - the breakfast was buffet style and the evening meal was served to you at your table - lovely food , even a vegetarian option was available. Great value for money - dont go if you expect 5* though - we would certainly go again. Our room was on the 2nd floor and couldnt hear the music from the cave bar but there was noise from people leaving ....not too much of a problem though . The staff in the hotel were all very helpful and friendly and made our stay one to remember The hotel is very conveniently placed and access to the ski slopes is just a walk of a couple of mins from the front door - a lift pass is available to use at all the surrounding resorts or just locally if you dont want to travel - the snow was good too. This resort is charming, really pretty .
great value for families
I have just returned form a week's holiday at the Staffler Hotel in Niederau - we had a great time. The Hotel is very old and basic- however it has everything you need and is EXCELLENT value for money. It is in a good position just a very short walk from the gondola and all the facilities of the village. We had lashings of hot water, comfy beds , warm rooms and a really good home cooked , three course dinner each evening. Breakfast is adequate - buffet style with a choice of three cereals, two breads, rolls and pastries. Cheese and ham were also available along with the usual array of jams and spreads. The great thing about this hotel is it's attitude to children. It is very informal and the little ones can come down to breakfast in their jim jams and run around without fear of anyone raising an eyebrow. The staff were friendly and attentive . Their is a disco in the cellar called the CaveBar which is some kind of local institution - the only downside is you can hear the thump of the music throughout the hotel . This hotel is great for families and young singles - not recommended for the more mature client looking for luxury or peace and quiet.
Excellent accomodation
EXCELLENT value for money. We have just returned from a 7 day ski trip staying at the Staffler hotel in Niederau. The hotel is in a brilliant position about a three minute walk from the gondola and nursery slopes. There was also a free ski bus at the top of the road. The hotel is very well maintained and clean and tidy. There is internet access and storage room for skis and snowboard equipment all free of charge. There is a bar selling a wide range of beverages and pizza along with a tv showing sky sports. The cave bar was excellent and had a good atmosphere and also sold food till early hours. The rooms were basic but clean. The room was warm and serviced daily (exept tuesday when staff had a day off). We had everything we needed and plenty of hot water all day/night. We had a beautiful view from our balcony. Although cave bar open til 4pm we heard very little noise. Meals were FANTASTIC with evening meal consisting of three courses all home cooked. Breakfast was also nice and there is a lovely view from the dining room. All staff very friendly and professional and made us feel very welcome.
would not recommend family lodge staffler to anyone
Location of hotel staffler very good. The beat of the cave bar was heard through out the hotel but it stopped at around 3am. The breakfast was OK but the evening meal was made on a budget. Many of the guest had a tummy bug including three of my own family out of six. The rooms were supposed to be cleaned every day eccept friday, however I noticed cleaning took place once during the week. My son was sick over the bar one night and although the staff cleaned it up there was no evidence what so ever that disinfectant of any sort was used.
Management response from Nick1956 01 May 2008

The Staffler was contracted to Panorama Holidays from 2002 until the end of last season - March 2007. From the start of the winter season 2007/2008 the hotel has been privately operated. Reviews from December 2007 posted to Trip Adviser reflect the many changes that have been intoduced both to the hotel and service provided.

Dreadful Hotel
Rooms cold no central heating electric heaters supplied but not good enough .A power cut every day we were there. Food very poor no variety. No fresh vegetables or salad . Breakfast miserable. Cave bar music blaring all night. Staff very drunk each evening. PANORAMA STAF AWARE OF THIS ALL GUESTS COMPLAINED. Manager abrupt and rude. Would not reccomend a single thing about this third rate hostel. It badly needs a health inspection. Panorama should not recommend this accomodation.. We have travelled the world and never before did we stay in such poor and unacceptable accomodation.

Can't be beaten for the price
A last minute Christmas break was in order, and this property made the whole process easy and enjoyable. After reading mixed reviews we went with an open mind - and had a great time. Yes the hotel is a bit on the tired side but so were we after day after day on the slopes. The bar is the bottom of the hotel is of no concern, we had a warm, twin 1st floor room and we didn't notice it. The staff are helpful and the food was exceptional for the money, keep things in perspective, this is a family focused hotel with prices and services that reflect this. If you want brand new 5 star then you have to expect to pay for it. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, its close to the slopes, there’s lots of hot water and the staff try hard to accommodate most requests.
