DONT COME HERE!

Feb 2012, VavySnucks

we booked this hotel for valentines day.. we checked in around 3.30pm, we were paying cash for our booking once we handed over the cash the receptionist she then told us because we are paying cash there is a £50 deposit! which we were NOT told about before hand! i explained we didn't have this money and her reply was " well u will loose this £55 you have just given to me anyway". we eventually got a friend to lend us the money! we finally got to our room and the door was battered and covered in scratches and dents, inside our room ( valentines day suite ) was just a plain room nothing special, there were holes in the walls and dents in walls the towels were shabby and stained!! the following morning the maid came to our room and DIDN'T KNOCK! she just inserted her key and tryed to come straight in luckily i put the chain across the door! I will NEVER stay here again! even if it was for free! i advise you find somewhere else to stay!!

Quality- I dont think so

May 2011, Jon Stynes

£20 for early check in. Staff were not bad at all but the pictures on the web are not in this building. There's something wrong with the heating. The pipes sound like the boiler room of an aircraftcarrier. The waste from the sink came up into the bath. You could only sit on the toilet if you have one leg. Bring your own toilet paper and get a reciept at check IN to avoid any surprises at check out. Avoid this place at all costs.

ear defenders necessary

Oct 2009, julieos

We stayed at the Quality Hotel in October 2009 so that we could attend a family birthday celebration. To ensure a comfortable stay we upgraded to a "superior" room. The welcome was somewhat frosty to say the least. The room was large, but other than that tatty and dirty. The worst bit was that the room was situated next to the lift. Oh My GOD...Friday was not too bad, but the clubbers arrived on Saturday, and we hardly got a wing of sleep all night. It was just awful. At breakfast the following morning, it was like a feeding frenzy-people piling their plates as high as they could, then leaving 3/4 of the food. On departure, I remarked to the receptionist that we had had a terrible night, to which he replied "oh yes because of the noise....we're looking in to it...all I can do is apologise" Not good enough in my opinion. If you know you have a noise problem do not put people in that room, and have the audacity to upgrade the room and charge superior rates, when in actual fact it is the absolute pits. People do not stay there

Family room booked for visit to Alton...
1 / 10
Aug 2008, Mrs S A Davidson

Family room booked for visit to Alton Towers. Bathroom a disgrace, black mould all round bath, door hit washhand basin, no window and no ventilation in bathroom. £1 and 50p per child to use swimming pool! Surely this should be included in price of hotel room. Black sheep bar had no melon, no vanilla icecream, and soup of the day was curry! Not very good when children are eating. Breakfast in morning was bad . Hard bacon, even harder fried eggs, disgusting sausages. Staff were pleasant and friendly, this is the only thing the hotel has going for it.

Found the Hotel to be value for...

Found the Hotel to be value for money. Far from the best hotel i've ever stayed in but also far from the most expensive! I had a adult triple room with full english breakfast - options of cereals/yoghurts - for under £55 total.
Found staff to be polite and enthusiastic but was dismayed at the TV in the bedroom. Though the tV worked it was not "satellite" as decribed on the website but pay per view!
Bedroom was expected though I had to call for towels so don't know how they could have forgotten to place towels in freshly made room. Tea/cofee facilities were workable though small things like providing three cups in a triple room would have been helpful. No biscuits on the tray but raided the maid trolley to get these.
Didn't try the swimming pool or leisure centre but went doen to see it and seemed functional though very small. Free for hotel guests use and staff are very helpful. I had to remind staff that breakfast was included in my price as twice they were going to add it to my bill. Book over the internet as you can save more than a third in costs!
All in all would recommend for someone on a budget or small families but not for those trying to impress their partners or want a luxury weekend - i'll repeat, you get what you pay for!

This is the worse hotel I have ever...

Jun 2008, Mr C Ward

This is the worse hotel I have ever stayed in. The place is filthy, the staff are miserable and the food is dreadful. Dont even risk it, trust me. The only thing that saves it is an 80s style gym which gets you away from the smell of stale fags and 1970s carpets. If this place is refurbished I dread to think what it was like before. I half expected the cast of Crossroads to jump out...............hell on earth.:(

Jan 2008, Mrs L Flockhart

Just had a weekend break here, and it was brilliant. I can't understand how this hotel has so many bad reviews. The staff are very friendly especially Kerry in the restaurant. We booked the family room and there was plenty of space for 3 beds and a cot. The swimming pool is small, but clean and well maintained.
We didn't stay in for the evening meal, but the breakfast was great - plenty of choice. We went to Cadbury World, which I can highly recommend, only 10 mins from this hotel. We would definately stay here again.

Jan 2007, Miss E L Lloyd

After reading reviews online I was dreading staying at this hotel. Me and my friend were staying for one night and read so many terror stories we didn’t dare take any valuables!
However on arriving we were shocked by friendly service, a clean room, and a lovely breakfast in the morning. I would definitely stay here again. Its a little way out of the city but the cheaper price makes up for it!
Really don’t believe the horror stories. It must have had some kind of major refurb since then because it was nothing like described.
One thing I would advise is that you book online though, as we got it much cheaper than others that were staying there.

Avoid like the plague. Once you pass...

Jan 2006, Opal Fruits

Avoid like the plague. Once you pass reception it is all downhill but at least you can admire the carpeted walls of the lift on the way up! Our room was 449 and was not unlike something from the 1998 film Guest House Paradiso.
The door was broken where it looked like someone had tried to jemmy out. Don't blame them mind. The sheets were grey, windows were rotten and running with condensation, paint was peeling on the bathroom ceiling, bathroom door didn't lock. The bar is overpriced and most of the optics are empty, breakfast is cold and inedible.
Most of the staff appear to be Eastern European and barely speak any English. Don't be tight like us, do yourself a favour and book a decent hotel somewhere else!

I stayed at the Quality Hotel...
1 / 10
Nov 2005, Mrs G Dorrington

I stayed at the Quality Hotel Birmingham, 166 Hagley Road, Birmingham West Midlands, England B16 9NZ on the nights of 8th and 9th November 2005. I booked the hotel online together with a colleague in another part of the country and both of us booked single rooms. My room number was 245.
I was truly horrified at the experience I had. I didn’t complain at the time as I thought I must have made a mistake when booking, but no, I have checked and it really was the hotel I had seen online. On their website it states
· All standard rooms have en-suite bath and shower,
· Interactive TV (Internet access, PlayStation, Exclusive Movies),
· mini-bar,
· hairdryer,
· trouser press,
· direct dial telephone,
· complimentary tea and coffee making facilities.
I had a standard single room which had no bath, no mini-bar, no trouser press, no Playstation or internet access.
My room DID have:
· Towels which were frayed at the edges and had holes in
· A shower room and WC with a chipped, painted toilet seat, dirty shower curtain and a door which would not shut because the frame was coming away from the wall
· A very small quantity of toilet paper and no spare roll (I requested one at reception on my return from a meeting and it took 1.5 hours to arrive and it was the receptionist who brought it)
· Dirty, holed curtain at the window
· A chunk out of the side of the dressing table
· Broken drawers with a broken handle on the dressing table
The hotel information pack took care to point out that there were a lot of burglaries and I had to be careful (one of these was a police notice). It also advertised “safe rooms for ladies” – whatever they were. None of this made me feel welcome or comfortable.
My colleague and I ate in the dining room on the first night but the food was really very average and seeing food remains on the wall of the dining room did not help the experience either.
It was quite the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.
