My Husband and I stayed at the Holiday Inn as we were going to Florida to see family for three weeks and stayed in a nice suite The bald headed man was so professional that nothing was too much trouble, he carried our cases as well as looking after us in the restaurant,... more

I had to be in Birmingham for two days, so booked this hotel because I had stayed there two years ago, and it has been what was required then. It did not disappoint - the room was a good size, the bed was definitely a double even though I only needed a single, and all the... more

Stayed at the Holiday Inn at Birmingham Airport before our holiday, left the car whilst we were away & stayed again on our return from holiday. The cost for two nights’ hotel accommodation & parking for 17 nights in my opinion, & in comparison to other hotels nearby, was... more

Never travelled from Birmingham Airport before so decided to book at the Holiday Inn as I had managed to get a great holiday deal. The advantage with this hotel is that you can stay in the room for a night and then have 14 days parking at the hotel which to me was excellent... more

An excellent, comfortable place to stay near to Birmingham Airport, often with offers including parking with the room. The hotel runs a shuttle bus to the airport, however this only ran in the mornings and evenings, so we had to get a taxi on our way back as we arrived at... more

Value for Money !!
Was not sure what to expect when I booked this hotel but I was very pleased with what I found. I was attending a show at the NEC for 4 nights. Check in was very efficient, and they had some mood lighting in reception which created a great atmosphere. The hotel was very modern, compared to the outside which needs some work. The bar had some great meal offers, so I ate in the hotel for 2 nights. The restaurant looked good but we were on a budget. What was even better was the free shuttle bus to the NEC and the free car parking they come and pick you up from the NEC or the train station !! The bedroom was clean and fresh, not a bad size. The staff were very friendly. Overall I would say I would stay here again, no question.
Couldn't have been better
Had a fantastic stay, room was great with a modern style and was comfortable (loved the Playstation always miss mine when I am away from home). Food was nice, ate in their new restaurant, good table service. Reception staff were great very quick service when I arrived little slower on departure but nothing major. Only one negative thing to say and that was main doors were been changed and a little confusing on how to get in. Would definately go back.
Don't believe the "complimentary shuttle bus" comment on the website
Arrived at midnight and phoned the hotel to arrange the shuttle bus - we were told it finished at 10pm. OK we can understand that. However, when my husband checked with the driver the next morning we were told it was actually 10am!! What use is that to anyone? The bus service, however, is excellent and inexpensive - no need to pay £8 for a taxi, and the bus stop is just outside the hotel. The hotel was clean and comfortable, although the bathroom was rather cramped. Took the bus into Sheldon just a couple of miles along the main road, where there are several restaurants and a couple of pubs. We would recommend the "Balti Society" - the meal was excellent and inexpensive. They are not licenced but there is an off licence two doors away and the restaurant staff were more than happy to open wine and provide glasses, etc. I would stay at this hotel again, but slightly annoyed at the misrepresentation regarding the shuttle bus, which was one of my main reasons for booking this hotel.
Would not stay here again
Where does it start? Stayed at this hotel in November. When I got the room I needed to plug in the space heater in room! I tried to order room service but told there would be a one and half hour wait and was told to go to the resturant for dinner instead! The staff were not helpful and downright rude. When asked if I enjoyed my stay, I advised 'no because they offer service which is not able to be provided'. Their only reply was 'sorry'. Talk is cheap. Overall , it is an old run down hotel. If you need to stay at a hotel near BHX airport, there are plenty of better options to choose from. Don't stay here.
Airport Hotel ... I don't think so
I booked this because it was advertised as an airport hotel. To my mind that means it's either at the airport or provides a good service to access it. But it cost us £8 in a taxi from the airport to get to it ... it would have been a long walk! They run a free shuttle bus every 30 minutes but only in the mornings until 10am and then again between 6pm and 10pm. Arriving at lunchtime (the restaurant was closed) we were stuck on the side of a dual carriageway miles from anything, and unless we wanted to spend a fortune in taxi fares we were stranded there all afternoon. We used the shuttle bus to get to our concert at the NEC that night, but the shuttle bus finishes at 10pm, way before the concerts come out, so another £8 in a taxi! On leaving the next morning we either had to be ready for the 10am bus or fork out for yet another taxi. On top of this, the hotel was in the middle of a major refurbishment (it certainly needed it as the whole place stinks of cigarette smoke) and it felt like we were living in a building site, but we weren't informed of this when we booked. We stay in lots of Holiday Inns and usually find them very good but this was awful. The room was fine and clean, but we ended up spending £24 on taxis, which would have been better spent on a nicer more accessible hotel. If you don't have a car ... don't do it!
Great Service & Rooms
This hotel has excellent facilities with very good rooms & restaurant, really good breakfast, friendly staff. Cannot fault the hotel at all! Only downside was the shuttle arrangements, we were told there was no need to book but there is, no matter what they say on the phone make sure you book the shuttle.
No problem with this hotel
Got room for £76 via Holiday Inn site. Excellent location for morning flight. Modern clean room, comfortable bed with good linen. Free car park - on right side of road for getting to airport. All in excellent for what we needed which was room before flying. Oh and you get a mini kitkat with the tea and coffee - what more could you want!! Also recommend Birmingham Airport multi-storey car park for short stays - book on line in advance and save significant amount - extremely convenient for both terminals.
verypleasant stay!!!!
i really don't understand the two previous reviews, as my friend and i found this hotel to be of a very good standard. check in was easy and very nice.very friendly staff. nice size room was spotlessly clean,as was the bathroom. all nicelydecorated.although it was a smoking room, no stale aroma, able to open window, seperate air cond./heating. tasty breakfast included in the price. pleasant large dining room. free shuttle to the train station, airport and nec.the driver was irish and an absolute hoot.even collected us after concert.will make several journeys if bus is full the first time.so overall a very nice pleasant stay. would definately recommend and would stay again myself.
Poor, Given the rates charged
Stayed while visiting the NEC. Quoted rate was £130 per night - luckily I managed to find it cheaper, but that's what I could have paid! Rooms small, hotel suffers from general lack of care and investment by its owners, which is a shame considering the standard of some of their other hotels. Looks as though it was built in a post war economy, and looks like it hasn't been re-decorated since!
You get what you pay for
We had an early flight to Athens in the morning, so decided to stay at the hotel over night. Reserved two rooms at the rate of £52 per night per room (room only). Check-in: Quick, only took a few minutes Room: Modern, well equiped and clean. Bed horrible, could not sleep on it, had to sleep on the floor all night (did not get much sleep) Bar: OK, good selection of wines for one person, poor selection of wines if your part of a group. Ordered a bottle of Chillian white at the bar was told to go up to the restaurant to get it myself (by the BAR SUPERVISOR) After paying £16 a bottle I was not going to "fetch" it myself. After a 15 minute wait the BAR SUPERVSIOR brought it to us. Restaurant: Nice food, un-trained staff who could hardly speak English. Picture in the brochure of the restaurant was of a modern brasserie, what resembled in real life was what could be discribed as your Mums dining room! We ate of the three course menu, starter nice, main course ok, pudding little disapointing and frozen in the bottom! Oh well I was not paying, my parients were. Check-out: took 20 minutes - the bill was wrong, was dealt with a stroppy night porter as we were checking out before the receptionists arrived (we were made of this bluntly by the porter) Would we stay here again? erm...NO! Shame really, its whooly owned by Intercontinental Hotels, so would have though they would have put effot into the hotel.
