Porec Hotel

I was house hunting in Istria, Croatia last summer and needed a place to stay. I was recommended the Hotel Porec by the local estate agent as I did not know the area well.
Having stayed in other hotels across Eastern Europe, I was expecting it to be fairly dated and old-fashioned, as well as pretty much on its last legs. However, although the exterior of the building was in need of some TLC, the reception, bar and rooms were cool, air-conditioned and welcoming. The staff were extremely polite and efficient, from manager to cleaning staff.
My room had a large double, balcony with sea view and a lovely clean modern bathroom. I expected there to be a lot of noise from the seafront bars but it was surprisingly quiet even in July.
Breakfast was typical continental selection but the bread was freshly baked, still warm and there was a good selection of jams, cheeses and hams from the local area.
The price was very good value at around 35 euros per night, approx £22.
I have been back several times now and the service is always as good and the rooms as clean and comfortable as the first visit.
