Very dissapointed
from Leissler0
After reading all these positive reports, we were really looking forward to our trip to the Saray Regency. So much so, that only a couple of days before travel, we tried to book a second week. Well, all I can say, it was a good job that there was no more available, as we were glad to return home after just 1 week. The bad: Turkey is not the most picturesque country and we found the people money hungry and greedy. This was reflected when we wanted to pay in Turkish lira and they refused the sale because they wanted currency instead ??!! The hotel itself looks all pretty impressive, however I would never rate this as a 5*, more like a 3*. We didn’t think the hotel was up to safety standards according to European guidelines. The balconies went just about up to my thigh and we were constantly worried about the kids getting anywhere near them. There were no signs out anywhere, warning of slippery floors (and they were slippery alright). Many people fell including us, sending my son to hospital on the first day. I thought the hotel was very unorganised. When we arrived (4am) I spent an hour sorting out our sleeping arrangements. They allocated a room with 2 single beds for 4 people. I spent my last day organising our transfer to the airport as they had no record, as well as making them realise we already paid for an extra night before travel, again what they had no record of. The staff spoke very little or no English. Luckily I speak German as well and I managed, just about as their German was not brill either. The food appeared to be tasty, however, all food was recycled (something I wouldn’t expect from a 5* hotel). If there was roast chicken in the evening, we had roast chicken in gravy the next day for lunch. And this was the case for most dishes. 2 out of our party had terrible stomachs (I was ill for 4 days). When speaking to other guest, they also had at least one, if not more, of their party ill. The good The rooms, pool area, lobby and restaurant were very clean and I had no complaints there, though rooms were on the small side. The animation team were lovely. Nino, Sabo, Ada and Aliffa were so into the kids and totally on their level. They were great. They were the happiest and the friendliest bunch. Unfortunately I cant say the same for the rest of the hotel staff. The Animation was great and was always received with great enthusiasm. Most evenings the show started at 9.30 pm which was a little late I thought. All in all, We were all glad to come home and sadly this was a holiday to remember for the wrong reasons. We never had a bad holiday, but then there is a first for everything I guess.

This hotel was billed as 5* and didn't quite hit that by Western standards. Having said that the hotel and rooms were very nice and everything was kept spotlessly clean. The pool area was large with a lovely pool and a small paddling pool for the children. I really liked the spa area where there was another pool, a Turkish bath and treatment rooms. These were at extra cost but excellent value compared to UK prices. The food was buffet style, plentiful, varied and good quality. The staff on the whole were helpful, however the waiting staff in the dining room were thin on the ground meaning that service (getting drinks, cleaning tables etc) could be somewhat slow. I was very surpised at how few non-smoking tables there were in the dining room. However the trick here is to go a bit later for dinner when it was a bit quieter. I would say about half the guests were German and the balance Russian and from UK. The entertainment was aimed at families and a bit hi-de-hi. They were very enthusiastic and tryed to get everyone involved. Finally, try the Turkish pancakes - delicious.
Fun all the way at this hotel... you won't be disappointed.

We holidayed here from 21.Aug05 for 2 weeks. We were a family of 9 the youngest being 10 & 2 further kids of 12/13 and 6 adults(2 a little more mature of 60+)! We ALL had one of the best holidays ever, mainly down to the animation team of Nino, Lucy, Gulo Gulo and more. Nino being the chief animation he is truly talented speaking 7 languages. He entertains everyone he comes into contact with and really has the gift with children, he's fantastic there is nothing this man cannot do well. The shows each night were varied and Very, Very entertaining from dancing to jumping through the ring of fire to sitting on beds of nails! You won't be disappointed. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean and the waiting on staff are incredibly friendly. Food, is gorgeous with so much choice and it's varied each evening, the poolside dining is the same but this too is very nice with waiter service. I really liked the walks to the beach with plenty of shops/bars to stop at with no hassles from staff. The children loved the bowling alley and so too did my husband who won the bowling competition on our very first night! We are hoping to go back next April and I would recommend this hotel to everyone, plus there were actually quite a lot of English families there to our surprise and the Germans were very pleasant and friendly.
Good Family Holiday, Fantastic weather
from A TripAdvisor Member
Three families consisting of 6 adults and 7 children had a fantastically relaxed holiday here in July 2005. The staff were very attentive and service was very good. The weather was touching 40 degrees most of the time. There was a wide range of nationalities staying at the hotel, with 80% of the guests being german. This being so most of the staff were fluent in German , but they were very eager to practise their English. Be aware as the guests are mainly German the favoured currency is the Euro , although you could spend Turkish Lira. The food in the main Restaurant , I found, was exceptional and varied, especially as I have 3 children who are very choosey in what they like to eat. Needless to say they never went hungry as there was always something that they could choose . Drinks of local beers and shorts were available from 10 a.m until 12 midnight with plenty of soft drinks for the children. My and my childrens only disappointment on the refreshment side was that ice-cream was not included in the all inclusive package. The entertainment was varied and catered for all ages with the entertainers led by Nino (who peaks 7 languages) working very hard during their 16 hour working day (believe me whatever they are paid , it is definitely not enough.) On the down side my only problem was with the size of the rooms, my room consisted of 2 very small double beds with a pull-out bed settee (all in the one room - I would have much preferred seperate rooms) but the Maid service was very efficient. There was not alot to see or do around the Hotel and the Beach was only a short walk away from the Hotel. We took a couple of trips into Side which was a 10 minute Dormas ride away ( 1 euro per person) and this was more lively with plenty to see and do. We went on 1 excursion and I would highly recommend to everyone taking a boat trip from Side Harbour. It is an all day trip consisting of being picked up outside your Hotel then sailing up the coast , then up a fresh water river , stopping at a sand bank (the sea on one side and the river on the other) for lunch then continuing up river before disembarking for a short bus ride to the waterfalls and then onto a very busy Market. The return journey is made in reverse and if your hotel is alongside the beach they ferry you in turns by inflatable motorised dinghy straight onto the beach. All of this cost about 28 Euros for my Family of 5. All in all I would recommend this Hotel to anyone.
Cracking Hotel & People

My family a party of four and a friends family of 5 have just returned from a loverly two week break staying at the saray regency hotel in side, and i just had to let other people know what a fantastic hotel it was, With everthing you need, friendly staff, good food, sea & beech, HOT sun, loads to do both for adults & children. There is plenty of shops near to the hotel, so you can barter with the friendly turkish people, the only down side was we had to come home after two weeks which broke the kids hearts. the hotel was excellant, spotless thought out from the maids cleaning your room to the handy man who was allway on top of the ground work around the pool side, outside eating areas garden areas. the staff are everywhere, just to look after you.The hotel is mainly full of Germans,Dutch,French, and many more, all nice polite & friendly. I would definitely go back to this hotel again as i rate it very high.
A hotel oven...for extreme sun worshippers

Saray Regency is listed as a 5* all-inclusive resort--NOT! Try 3* at most. My husband and I are quite laid-back and quite tolerant of the hospitality industry but I think it's fair to pass on this review to anybody who's going to be spending a lot of money on accomodation in Turkey. GOOD THINGS: 1) The all-inclusive food and drinks are exceptional. Don't order a name brand alcohol though, that is chargeable. Don't ask for Bacardi or a Becks because that will cost you 7 euros to your room!!!! We learned the hard way. The main restaurant, Mavi, is top-notch with wonderfully prepared veggie dishes, authentic homous, tsasiki, and dolmathes. They have an outdoor grill where they bbq a different meat everyday, and it's tasty and divine! 2) The staff are warm and attentive. They work really hard. 3) The rooms are clean. Note to couples: you will get twin beds, they don't really know what doubles are. 4) You get beach towels 5) Your hotel complex has a shopping and restaurant strip! 6) They offer a proper Turkish bath for 35 euros. 7) Lobby is gorgeous. The NOT SO GOOD THINGS: 1) It's 40 degrees in Turkey. The air conditioning is abysmal. The fan goes on in your room at certain times of the day to conserve energy. Between 3am-6:30am the fan will blow out hot air which means you're going to be sweating while you sleep or not sleep at all. 2) No fault of the staff but they only know minimal English. Again, you can't fault the Turkish staff but if you want to complain about the air conditioning it'll be a bit tough! The hotel guests are 90% German as this is a cheap holiday for them. No wonder the Turks can speak fluent German. 3) The Lake that they boast about is really a dirty pond not worth being a selling point. 4) They boast that they have horseback riding available. Well...there was no mention of it or any horses to be seen. It's quite a good experience to be in Turkey but I'd suggest going to Bodrum instead of Antalya. There's a lot of historical sites so make sure to book the tours. They have MASTERED the tour scene there so if you want a break from the hotel and get some culture go for the packages. All in all, the hotel is okay but if you can't withstand the heat and non-existent air conditioning then try one of the myriad of other neighbouring all-inclusive hotels.
No languauge problems here!

We have just returned from 1 week all inclusive in Saray Regency and loved it. Despite being the only Brits in the hotel at that time, we never once had language difficulties. The staff all seem to speak German with a smattering of English, but they were very keen to try! and seemed genuinely pleased to speak to us. If you do have any problems, reception staff, or Nino- the animation chief, are fluent, in fact Nino seems to speak all languages, quite amazing. His team are from all over - Italy , Bulgaria, Croatia etc, they do an excellent job. I recommend going to Mustafa's Turkish lessons by the pool, we learnt a few words and phrases and it made all the difference to be able to thank people for their excellent service in their own language. The entertainment at night was mainly suited to kids and parents at this time of year, but we happily joined in anyway. My husband enjoyed a few games of "football tennis" with Nino, Scooby, and the team, not an easy feat at 11.30pm after an evening of all inclusive drinking! I found the food ok, but possibly geared towards German tastes, understandably as they are the main users of this hotel. Please don't let this put you off, we found the Germans very polite and keen to converse with us( in perfectly good English! ), the children were well behaved and the whole place settled down about midnight every night, which suited us fine. The mini-bar in restocked every day free of charge( soft drinks and waters) but unfortunately, being out of season - the beach bar was closed - pity because we were on the beach almost every day, so it would have been an added bonus. Actually as we left, at the end of March, the whole area seemed to be wakening up from winter, with lots of painting retiling etc going on all around. You will note that the waiting and bar staff seem to be constantly on duty! yet they seem to stay cheery and friendly ( with only 1 or 2 exceptions!) , They also very quickly memorise your drinks order and take pleasure in saying it before you do! All in all, we had a great week at Saray Regency, albeit out of season. I would like to see what it's like when at full capacity, to see if the staff cope quite so well when at full capacity.
Good value all inclusive hotel
from molesDover
Spent two weeks here in September 04, thoroughly enjoyed it. Very few English here, mainly German, Norweigan, Dutch and Russian. Made a nice change as resorts on the Aegean coast cater mainly for British. Nice location with a good few shops and bars leading to the beach, which had a section exclusively for hotel guests with a bar/cafe offering free drinks and snacks. The hotel restaurant was excellent. Frequent Dolmus' transport to Manavgat and Side, which was lovely too. Boat trips were excellent value and these picked up and dropped off on the local beach. The only downside was the last day, when you have to vacate the rooms early. If you have a late flight the cost of keeping your room is expensive. We took a day trip for the last day with the tour company which picked us up early and included an overnight hotel in Anyalya, near the airport. This was better value. We would definately reccomend this hotel.
A good hotel that tries hard to please
from A TripAdvisor Member
Forget aboout the 5 star rating. By Western standards this hotel would be an upper 3 star or maybe nudging a 4 star. It seems you can loose one or even two stars from any Turkish rating. But this is a good hotel which tries hard to keep customers happy. The staff were always very helpful during our stay and I would recommend anyone to opt for the inclusive option at any hotel in Turkey. not that the inclusive means everything. As an example the gin is free but the bacardi you have to pay for ! On the positive side the soft drinks and the coffee and the tea were free all day and with a family this is a major benefit financial wise. The food was generally excellent. Always well laid out and the Head Chef and Senior chefs were always very evident, checking and keeping an eye on things. A good variety of food with the right mix between local and more western style food. The photographs of the hotel are hugely flattering - what can you expect. The hotel looks like an overturned egg box. The reception now looks dated - the hotel was built about 18 years ago and there is a hideous water feature which looks like a paddling pool with a lollipop in the middle. On the positive side the hotel is clean with staff regularly seen wiping and tidying. I noticed that the toilet in the reception area was cleaned every 30 mins. The swimming pool area is impressive although the main pool is fairly deep with no real shallow end. It joins onto a smaller pool and there is also a chidrens pool near by. Good combination to meet the needs of a confident swimmer and a nervous one ! The entertainment for children was very well organised with the children clearly having a great time. Nimo seemed to have a fantastic gift with the children - think of a clown and a pied piper all in one. The evening entertainment was disappointing - think village hall rather than Las Vegas. But I accept that it is very difficult to provide cross nationality entertainment. The location is a little isolated but the beach is near with a small collection of interesting and busy shops. Also useful that the hotel have a reserved area on the beach and once again you can get the free all inclusive drinks plus food. There are also a wide variety of cakes readily available. Don't be afraid of the local transport - the dalmus. Think of an old minibus. Good value and better that our railways - and cleaner- only just. At the hotel the guests were mainly German - about 80% Use Euro rather than lira. Much easier and more readily accepted. Everyone smokes - beware !
5 Stars - Excellent

This Hotel is just wonderful....If you want to travel with children it is the perfect hotel. All the ani's and all the others who work at this hotel love children and show it. They speak nearly every language there. The room service is also excellent...I would go there everytime again and if you do so: YOU ALSO WILL HAVE FUN THERE!
