We had a great time at this friendly family run hotel. Our expectations were not that high as we read most of the reviews on this website before we left. Have no fear, we experienced complete bliss, feeling really blessed, we had a nice comfortable room; the bed felt new... more

Just returned from a two week stay in Plessas Palace. First time to go B&B and it was fine. The hotel is on the outskirts of the village (next door to a farm yard with hens, chickens, and goats!). The staff at the hotel are very friendly and pleasant. However, the cleaning... more

Good value, clean room and friendly staff
Nice big room, kitchen and bathroom basic but perfectly adequate. 7 Euros per night for air conditioning and 10 Euros per week for fridge... The staff are very friendly and helpful....nice pool area and plenty of sun loungers... Alikansas and the neighbouring Alkyes (10 - 15 mins walk) are clean and there is a lovely beach but the resorts are extremely British.... Zakynthos Town can be reached by bus (1.50 Euros) - bus stop 2 mins from apartments
clean and very friendly
we have just returned to rainy england after spending two weeks at the hotel plessas palace. This hotel is very good value for money. All the hotel staff are extremely helpful, any problems you may encounter are very quickly and efficiently resolved. The hotel is very clean and bedding is changed at least two or three times a week. Would recommend this to both families and couples but not much to do if you are single looking for lots of fun and noise.People who do not enjoy their stay obviously are not used to the greek way of life! caroline, liz, paul and bill
Good holiday
We have just come back from 2 weeks at the Plessas Palace. The accomodation was of a high standard, but the evening entertainment is not so hot. If you like a quiz night (lasts about 30 mins) card bingo or deal or no deal then you will be fine. The staff are all very nice, Nicos on the bar is helpful along with Pigi on reception. The pool is adequate and the surrounding gardens are nice. The rooms are comfortable, although I would advise you to take a travel kettle. The rooms are cleaned every day and the sheets changed twice a week. We only ate and drank in the accomodation a couple of times as the Millenium bar (about 100 yards away towards the centre) is fab. The owners Steph and Joe do a mean breakfast and their bar snacks are great too. The Millenium Bar have a pool for use through the day and they make you welcome at any time of the day. If you go be sure and speak to Tanya the bar maid/waitress as she is a good geordie girl. The resort is not too big, but you can easily walk to Alykes in 15 minutes.
Great Greek Family Feel
We just came back from a 3 night stay at the Plessas Palace in Zakynthos. Initially I was a bit unhappy as the main building was full and they put us in a room at the adjacent property. Things were fine the following day when the Hotel Manager, Pigi, put us in a lovely room in the main building on the third floor. The view was wonderful and peacefull, just what we wanted as the night before the traffic & mosquitos kept us awake most of the night. The room and property was imaculately clean and well kept. If you are pampered Americans as we are, ask for air conditioning (5.00 Euros more per night - keeps the room comfortable and the mosquitos out). We opted not taking the breakfast which I regret now. I think it only added 5.00 Euros more per day, per room for a buffett. This was a better value than paying the 2.00 Euros for each cup of coffee we had (3 people, 2 cups each) which ended up being 12.00 Euros one morning. Each night at around 10:00 PM there is themed entertainment available (Bingo, Greek Lessons, Trivia, etc.) which several of the guest took advantage of. The pool was sparkling clean and inviting, although we did not have enough time to enoy it. The best part of staying at this hotel was the family who owned it. They could not have been more friendly and accomodating to us and really made the difference in our Zakynthos experience.
first time Zante
Zante Plessas Palace Alikanas 6-13 may 07 Just on edge of village great friendly family run apts check out Nicos in the bar nothing to much trouble,Apts situated great for good nights sleep, yet mins from night life and restaurants, clean apts, a bit bigger than norm for greece, remote A/C for hot nights remote TV for bored kids, bare essentials in kitchen typical greek style but who wants to cook on hols, lots of reasonably priced restaurants and the odd IFFY bar,my wife and i actually ate in all of these don`t bother to read this if you do not like Greek food. Millennium bar, to be fair big breakfast but most expensive we found,Tipsy Toad bar great for quiz nights,Flame bar IFFY cocktails are alcohol free thats why they are cheap, Bacardi& coke 1 Euro more than most bars,Memories (rest) food 4/10 Dionisis (rest)6/10 Montalena (rest)7/10 Paradisiako (rest) 9/10 a bit of a walk towards Alikanas just over bridge on left, buts this is were locals of all ages eat. Beach to right of resort by small harbour the best spot. Enjoy your hols Anita&Terry
Everything we wanted from our holiday
We stayed at Plessas Palace for a fortnight last September and the hotel offered us everything we wanted from our holiday. The rooms are neat, with the usual wooden furniture as found in most Greek Island hotels. The rooms all have a view of either pool and garden or countryside and are situated to allow a lovely cool breeze in the evening. They are cleaned each day with clean linen every other day. AC is general as is a TV- not that we used it much!! We had a studio room and this included a small kitchen area with a fridge and a 2 ring hob. This was also used very little as we were out and about a good deal. The pool is not olympic sized, but very good for that early swim or to cool down whilst sunbathing. The family were very helpful and they went out of their way to ensure we had everthing we wanted. We only had to ask!! One of the really good things about Plessas Palace is that there is a member of the family available 24 hours a day. Another is that it is a short walk to the bars and restaurants, but the hotel itself is very quiet. We were hardly ever in our beds before 3am,- being very careful not to be too noisy coming back into the hotel- after having great food and some really good fun with the friends we met in Alykanas. Just what the doctor ordered!! So good we have booked again for this September and recommend Plessas Palace to all our friends.
Great holiday
Just returned from a fortnight at Plessas in Alykanas and it provided exactly what we wanted. Good simple accommodation, good pool and great location for the village, beach and getting around the island. The room was clean, changed regularly and had fridge, hotplate and basic self catering equipment. Watch out if you choose bed and breakfast as we heard from others that this then meant you had no fridge or any self catering equipment - not even a kettle. The beach was a leisurely 15 minute walk away and well worth visiting with gentle shelving sand and clear blue water. Plenty places to eat and drink in the evening without ever being noisy or busy. Direct Holidays say it is a quieter resort and this suited us perfectly. We found great car hire at Best Choice in Alykes and we took a ferry to nearby Kefalonia and stayed there for a night. All in all Plessas was just what we expected for a simple beach apartment holiday and proved very good value for money. If you want a quietish holiday to relax and sit at the pool or beach then you could do a lot worse than the Plessas Palace.
Disappointing
My boyfriend and I are just back from a week's stay in the Plessas Palace. I would not recommend staying here. The rooms are extremely basic - ours didn't even have a fridge and the showerhead holder was broken, the shower itself was absolutely tiny - barely enough room to wash your hair and shaving my legs was a complete nightmare! I complained about the room and asked if we could be moved but they said they were full…the pool is really tiny too - we never spent a day beside it, as it was just too small and cramped. We were provided with clean towels maybe twice in the week and I don't think the sheets were changed. On the positive side it is located in a good spot in the resort of Alykanas. The breakfast was ok and the staff were nice. We had a lovely holiday overall but would definitely not go back here, or even to Alykanas for that matter. We knew it was not a particularly lively resort but we were expecting some sort of life and one or two good bars to go to at nighttime? No such luck, its a nice resort for families with young kids (which it was full of) - nice restaurants and beach is lovely. All bars etc. close at about 1 am. I would not go here if you are in your 20's like us, unless you are looking for a really quiet holiday. Weather was brilliant though! Also - if you want to do the blue caves and shipwreck beach bout tour, I'd do it on one of your first few days. We left it till the end and then couldn't do it as it had gotten too windy so the boats couldn't go out!
No complaints here!
We stayed at Plessas Palace for 2 weeks in Sept 05 and found it to be great. Everything was clean and the beds were comfy, which is basically all you need. Family were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was basic but fresh and edible! Every morning it was bread, melon, cheese, & sometimes ham (which as a veggie was not for me) but it was fine to start the day with. Hotel has a small shop selling most things you're likely to need. Pool was quite small (very clean though) but taken over by a group of noisy tourists during our stay so we never went in it though to be honest there were more interesting things to do. Would recommend hiring a car as its very possible to tour the island in three days seeing most places, there are some stunning places in Zante though one place I would definitely avoid is Laganas which has been ruined by Brits who go away for sun and beer only, don't get me wrong, we're only 23 but it was a very unpleasant place. we had a wonderful two weeks, probably made by the car hire as otherwise we would have been limited staying in Alkanas as it's quite touristy but fine as a base, nice beach. Oh one last thing - don't go on the 'turtle' cruise - it was rubbish, saw no turtles and it ended up with all the punters shouting at the reps and a totally wasted day!! And one trip the reps forgot to pick us up - a lesson to arrange your own outings!!
really good
