We visited Paphos in March/April of 2006.
It was a big family holiday and so we decided it would be cost effective to stay in a James Villa.
From the airport we were met with 2 pre-booked hire cars, these were easily accessible and an absolute must for the holiday if you dont fancy going everywhere in taxis.
The James Villa was very nice with high ceilings and simple essentials. The pool was lovely and great to have to ourselves.
Paphos is a much quieter end to Cyprus, after staying in both Ayia Napa and Protarus in 2005, I would not rate Paphos as high as these as to be honest there isnt that much to do for a 14 night stay.
I would not however reccommend Paphos in March/April if you are looking for a scoulding hot holiday. Some days it was too cool to sit by the pool, however most days it was fine just a bit windy, but I personally never ventured into the cold pool.
The nights however were very cold, and the thin sheets the villa provided us with were not enough, I found myself sleeping in layers of clothing. So I would reccommend taking coats etc if you are going out on the night time.
Overall lovely holiday, obviously the negatives to stopping in a self-catering Villa is that you pay to go on holiday to get away from cleaning , cooking and washing-up and obviously have to do it here. However this is outweighed by the positives i.e having the whole family together with a private pool.

The flight into Paphos was uncomplicated using AlphaJet, check them out - very good value] and we collected our hire car from the airport without a hitch.
The road out to Coral Bay was a pleasant drive, with bars and tavernas along the roadside at varying intervals.
Coral Bay is well signposted and the roads are good ones. The resort isn't as busy in October as other times of year and so there was no hassle driving down into the resort, off the main highway.
Coral Bay itself [centre] is more or less just a bar/restaurant/shop lined road. There's a beach to one side, with ample car parking [probably not ample in the height of summer] and there's an Irish bar, which we didn't find too appealing though that's not our kind of thing, at the end of the shops/tavernas.
Many of the James Villas are sited through and beyond Coral Bay and thus benefit from being in the quieter suburbs. There are one or two nice tavernas out there, where the 'egg and chips for breakfast' brigade don't venture, so if that's more to your liking, you'll be pleased.
There are a good number of banana plantations out in that area, and that provided the one thing that we just didn't enjoy or expect. When the James Villas rep had visited us, she turned and commented, "If you see a banana spider, just chase it off with a broom.” She wasn't exaggerating. Halfway through the week, one appeared on the wall of a bedroom - it did indeed take a broom to chase it off, such as its size.
Apart from that, our holiday was superb. James Villas are renowned for quality villas and ours was no exception. With a pool, 4 bedrooms, large lounge and separate dining area and kitchen, we had a comfortable place to live for the week.
The weather was a bit 'iffy' on one day, but that time of year is reasonably warm and the beaches are quiet. Recommended.

Too much building work starting at 7am finishing about 10pm.
There was even building work going on above restaurants which remained open.
The Cypriote people do like children but we found that they were not very well catered for at Coral Bay. There was only one bar with any games for them to play and no outside facilities such as swings and slides.
We found ourselves back at the villa straight after finishing our evening meal.

We arrived at our Villa on Wednesday at 10am, about 6 hours early. We found everything clean and tidy and the keys left in the combination safe so we just moved in, much to the surprise of the rep who came to inspect the cleaning of the villa.
However all was well, and she was very helpful.
Next day our airline went bust (XL) and we, along with 75000 others worldwide were wondering how to get home. We called our rep (Jane) who didn't have much information but told us not to worry(!) as it was their responsibility to get us home, and as far as she knew we were to turn up at the airport as normal.
The villa was pretty, clean and nicely located. The pool was maintained and al in all we had a great time.
Sure enough on Tuesday (the day before return), Jane texted us, then called to confirm that we were booked on an alternate flight with Ryanair at the normal time. We got home as normal.
I would like to thank everyone at James Villas especially Jane who probably had many cases like ours to deal with. I would certainly use them again.
