Jul 2007, Mr Kevin Trounson

We went to Bulgaria in May 2007, I my wife & my parents. The hotel on fist impressions was great but unknown to us & the other guests in May & June it caters for large numbers of students, this is not mentioned in the brochures.
On the second day of our holiday approx 200 students arrived at the hotel & moved in next door, above us, below us & across the corridor from us the noise was unbearable.
This carried on all night & every night for the whole seven nights of our holiday, we spoke to the rep every day regarding this problem, he did try & resolve the noise problem with the manager, with security guards on the four floors but not much success.
This hotel is a 2 part hotel 3 & 4 star, so why the students were not put in the 3 star part of the hotel & leave the paying guests to stay in the 4 star part in beyond us.
Several guests were moved to other hotels but most had large numbers of students in them, my advise don’t go to Bulgaria in May or first part of June if you want a quiet relaxing holiday, if I wanted a 18-30 holiday we would have gone to Kavos etc, but when you are 40 something you don’t need this.
We spoke to some local people & this happens every year shame the brochure doesn’t tell you this. Have contacted Balkan unfortunately they are not interested, needless to say we will not be going back to Bulgaria.

Jul 2007, Mrs C Lessani

Do not book this hotel!! I have been to Bulgaria 4 times in the past and have loved it, unfortunately all good things must come to an end, this end have came at the Sun Palace Hotel. The only good thing about this hotel is the rooms are clean, after this it is all down hill.
No entertainment unless you call the one animation staff doing the same thing day in day out, no children’s play area unless you call the one swing and see-saw this, pool is too small for resort.
Three of my 4 children got an ear infection as well as half the resort, food don’t even go there breakfast 2 out of 10. Lunch 1 out of 10 and dinner I wouldn’t even give it a score, food was always the same stew stew and more stew and chicken liver ever day (disgusting) none of the staff smiled and were all rude.
Don’t even think of the manager as he is a waste of space, time, and effort, when I complained the only comment I got back was "ok report me if you like you have paid your holiday now" don’t even think about a children’s food area as there is none, the only thin my children ate was the cucumber and watermelon.
I have seen big changes in Bulgaria, it was once a family resort relaxing and enjoyable but now I’m afraid it is like Blackpool and Beruit all mixed into one, with teams of lager louts parading in their droves drunk and annoying everyone in their paths, so as I now search for a new holiday destination I bid farewell to a once enjoyable holiday resort.

Presently here at the hotel and wish we were not. The hotel is clean enough and rooms good size but!
The food is very poor all the time and what we have been told it has improved over the last few days. So the food seems to be the same all the time and it is cold most of the time, no snacks in evening for the kids it’s a trip down to micky dees or kfc.
The kid’s entertainment in nowt, we have been here 3 days and not seen any so far, the kids play area is very small you will have a bigger one in your garden, the food is really poor so if you want to diet come here. Have a nice holiday.

Having just returned from the Sun Palace hotel from an all-inclusive 14 day stay, excellent.
I tried to learn more about this hotel after reading all the bad reviews and found the hotel to be completely the opposite of the of what had been written about it.
What we found was staff being very helpful, may add my wife requires a wheelchair and help was always there when required.
This hotel is not just for British people but all nationalities both entertainment and food, also the Bulgarians are not aggressive as you find Americans, a smile says more than money, don’t try and buy friendship it does not work.
Let me say this, in June 09 I will return to Sun Palace hotel with my wife.

Jun 2007, Miss J Bloggs

My partner and I visited this hotel in May with our 3 young children. The hotel was fine nice and clean and the staff were nice enough, our only complain were the young Germans they were noisy and rude we had no sleep for 2 weeks.
We had words with the manager every morning but nothing was done about it when it came to the last day we came to blows with group of Germans but they just laugh it off, very rude people.
A lot of people didn’t like the food but it was ok the breakfast was lovely, dinner and tea were nearly always the same but it is cheap enough to eat out anyway. We enjoyed our 2 weeks holiday but I would advise you only use this hotel if you can put up with allot of night time noise from the German 18-30s.
If you do decide to go and you want to eat out the castle on the sea front is lovely we used it a few times.

Jun 2007, Mr Mark Biegalski

Having stopped in this hotel four times last year, returned back this year only to find 4 star means that dirty carpets, dirty walls with dead bugs, err a smell from bathroom, noise from music in hotel bar till 4 am, cold repetitive food, ignorant staff - this are but a few reasons not to book this hotel.
This year all inclusive means large groups of people drunk, aggresive, destructive.
No wonder staff don’t want to talk or serve anyone. Will return to Bulgaria this year but not to this hotel.

The room and the balcony were of a big size, the furniture was relatively nice.
However there were many small things that spoiled the holiday - the room could have been cleaner; there wasn't a single shelf next to the shower to put our things on it, so that we had to put the shower gel and the shampoo on the floor. In addition the bar by the pool (and just beneath our terrace) was very noisy, because working class British people were enjoying the cheap beer almost around the clock.
As if a confirmation to reviews I had read before booking the room there, a pocket knife disappeared from a side pocket of my travelling bag. It wasn't a big thing but I was really annoyed because this meant that somebody had ransacked our luggage/clothes/underwear.
To sum up, I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

We have just returned home from the...

Sep 2006, Mrs L Airzee

We have just returned home from the worst holiday ever, we went to Bulgaria 3 years ago and had a great time. This time it has been a night mare, hotel was clean, that’s the only good thing.
The hotel had a very loud party every Thursday night until 2.30 in the morning, no entertainment for the guest’s, these where staff party's only.
We went half board and had 2 breakfast and 2 evening meals, of which all where stone cold, a Scottish lady complained to the manager who basically just shrugged off the complaint and walked away. A group of 30 welsh people arrived complained about the cold food (of which the menu morning and night never changed for the full 2 weeks) and got the same response. They went to the Balkan office to be moved to another hotel, and where told by them to speak to the manager, the following night the food was hot and named, but for that 1 night only.
The staff never smiled, my husband offered one staff member a tip if they returned a smile, needless to say his money stayed in his pocket. The majority of staff appeared to be looking after each other and they really didn’t seem to want to make guests feel welcome or enjoy their holiday, the staff also, when the puddings came out rushed over and took all the best ones. They were also helping themselves to what ever they fancied as they went around, never mind the tables full of dirty dishes. There are enough tables for all guests to eat, but only about a dozen a night were in use, and this was by other nationalities.
The area is full of thieves, prostitute’s pickpockets and beggars, the area has now become over commercialised and over crowded.
The money we took to have a good time on went on eating out every morning and evening. Needless to say we will not be returning to Bulgaria, we got to know a few couples who have been to sunny beach (sun palace) for a few years, they are not returning again to this hotel. BEWARE this hotel is going all inclusive next year, this could well be the joke of the century.

May 2006, Mr Timperley

This hotel is in an ideal location for the amenities of sunny beach. The hotel and grounds are well maintained. The rooms are of good size and are cleaned regularly. There is also a fridge in the room.
The pool is large and there is just enough shade to escape from the hot days. The staff are very friendly and attend to you every need. Food is good but could do with a bit more variety, although there are specialty nights where local food is cooked.
The entertainment programme is good fun!
A hotel I would definitely recommend and will return back to in the future.

Sep 2005, Mrs B Porritt

We were upgraded from a 2* hotel to 4* in sun palace, the rooms were large, 6ft wide bed, large shower room and all beautifully furnished
Unfortunately the pool was rather cool , and the breakfast was the same every day, plenty of it but I don’t think it was to English tastes.
Billy’s and carriby are very good places for evening meals and hundreds of places for snacks and drinks.
Buses into Nessibar run every 10 mins and cost coppers ,taking the little train is a good way to have a look round and get idea's for a night out .
Everything is very cheap and good value for money.

The Sun Palace was brilliant. We had a huge family room. Only drawback was no balcony only huge windows but a small price to pay for such a nice room and there was air con.
The staff were fantastic especially the pool bar staff. They worked very long hours but were always lovely and were brilliant with the children. Breakfasts were continental but outside in the bbq garden you could get pancakes and fried eggs. Right near the middle of the resort but not too noisy.
Sunny beach is packed full of people trying to sell you things but they are friendly and not too pushy. Lots to do and lots to see including shows. Very cheap to eat and drink out. Typical price for a family of four was 60 lev , which is around £20..not bad for 4 pizza’s and drinks all night. All in all we had a great holiday and are returning to Bulgaria next year.
