Le Petit Manoir

Booked on Internet, a good start as tickets delivered next day.
Travelled 1st class on Eurostar; a real treat; spot on time with attentive staff, a good meal, champagne and wine.
Bought Metro tickets at Waterloo, which was a good move. We used tickets as soon as we arrived and then for quick and efficient travel all over Paris.
Our original hotel was overbooked so we were relocated to 4* Le Petit Manoir. Not quite sure how it merited 4*s as we needed a shoe horn to fit between the basin and toilet - otherwise clean and comfortable with a good breakfast in the cellar restaurant.
The proprietor seemed abrupt but improved when we asked about local restaurants - he must have been on commission!
On his recommendation dined at Le Papillon Bistro, just round the corner, where the food was excellent and we could stagger back to bed. It must have been good we went there the next night too.
The weather was superb and all the tourist sights lived up to expectations. We were only ripped off once when we paid 10 euros for two glasses of Fanta at Le Montebello on the Left Bank - lovely setting but not worth that much.
The whole trip was excellent and Paris quite magical.
