After reading everyone's reviews on...

Mar 2008, Mrs A Bain

After reading everyone's reviews on this hotel I just had to add mine sobeit a few years too late - we actually went in 2004! and obviously it has got no better! We booked ours last minute as we usually do, 2 adults and 2 children, 7 days before we left, it wasn't a cheap holiday, paying just over £2000 but we were very excited about going! When I booked it the girl said it was a superior family room - when we arrived at the hotel, it looked absolutely lovely from the outside, it was the early hours of the morning, eventually when we were taken to our room - accross between swimming pools and down stairs to the "annex" where there was 2 single beds and 1, 2 seater seat in front of the window, my daughter was the smallest at 9 years old and she couldn't sleep with her legs straight, they knocked on the door 2 hours later with a rusty camp bed!! the wires were hanging out of the walls in the bathroom! Nexr morning when we went for breakfast there was flies flying round all the food! Then my 12 year old son cut his leg on a piece of wire sticking out of the swimming pool - that was it at the "welcome meeting" the rep got what for from quite a few of us and we demanded we get put somewhere else! He told us to come to the reception at 8 next morning and he would take us somewhere else - we landed at the Saray Regency and it was beautiful! We ended up getting £800 from Med hotels eventually after threatening to take them to court! It is the worst hotel I have ever been in! I wouldn't even give it a 1/10 but there wasn't a 0/10 to choose!

Aug 2007, Mr I Sherratt

Basically.... Just don't go if you expect 5*.
At best it is 2*, forget the "well its a Turkish 5*" Med Hotels listed it as 5 wings and I have stayed in other 5 wing rated hotels with them and they have been superb, this is just a dive. We were lucky to get a family room, but guess where they are, right next to the disco which was the only entertainment apart from the animation show which was not what you would call a show.
The air-con was non existent either in the room or the hotel, you had to resort to sitting on a sun lounger by the pool in the evening having a drink served from the main lobby bar - which was the only area open in the evening, apart from the small pool bar stuck in the corner by some video machines. Hardly pleasant and relaxing as stated in the brochure.
The evening food served 7-9 was actually cleared away by 8.30 so to eat you had to join the stampede at 7. As it was my wife spent an evening and the following day in Hospital on a drip after contracting Gastro Enteritis. Breakfast was the same, nothing warm and then only an omelette if you queued 30mins and by 9.30 they even took the toaster away. Lunch was no more than a snack, burgers and chip. In the afternoon they served doughnuts but only if you fried in the sun for an hour to get them.
We complained to the hotel management but they didn't really care and as we were only 1 of 3 British families we really didn't matter. Very few of the hotel staff spoke any English or pretended not to. They were very understaffed and on some days they were only making up the room at 5pm.
We even had to clear our own table in the evening. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

We are a family of 4, the children...

Aug 2006, Mr A McCall

We are a family of 4, the children are 3 & 5. We had paid and reserved a double/twin room to be available for us, from 2.00pm we were shown to our room at 6.00am the following day.
We where shown to a standard room, clearly designed for two persons; shoehorned to accommodate 4, by converting the seating area to a bed and supplying a camp bed.
We phoned reception the next morning to inform them that the air conditioning in our room was not working. However reception hung up on us 4 times. Meaning I had to walk to reception to portrait the room problems. I was informed that the air conditioning in the rooms is only available between 4pm and midnight. The air con was fixed on the third day, the same day that the hotel admitted their error in room allocation.
Hence we packed our bags and moved to our family sized room. The hotel offered no assistance with our room move, to the extent we had to move the camp bed between rooms ourselves.
To our dismay the air con wasn’t working there either. As the air con is only available between 4pm and midnight, we couldn’t check in advance of moving. Don’t forget that this hotel is advertised and sold as 5*. By the 8th day of our holiday we got the air-conditioned room we had paid for. Air con is not available at any time in the restaurant; with 599 guest rooms this is a lot of people in a non-cooled environment.
We were sold this holiday on the entertainment for our children, with the different clubs available, but all entertainment adult or child is in German.
On two separate occasions we witnessed excrement in the pool, we informed hotel staff, who ignored us and it was left for the guests to remove the logs.
We found the hotel management to be ignorant and selective when required, in their understanding of English. This hotel is set up for German, Russian and Dutch. As English you are very much ‘4th Class’.
If you would like a 2* holiday but pay the price of a 5*, learn new languages, learn to sleep in a chair in reception, get swimmingly close to nature, eat German pallet cuisine in an non air conditioned restaurant, then this is the holiday for you. Better still why not take your hard earned money, and go to a hotel that will treat and pamper you in the way a 5* hotel should.
I hope that this review has been of assistance to you and that you enjoy your holiday.

This was the worst holiday ever. The children wanted to come home after just two days.
The air con is a joke and the food is only the cheapest cuts of meat. Also the rooms are not available on arrival. You just wait up to 9 hours.
The staff are fairly bored with English people who cannot speak German. Never ever again.
Too large and too many Russians and Germans. Not enough drink dispensers.

Booked holiday last minute for our...

Aug 2006, Mrs H Trammer

Booked holiday last minute for our family of 4. Never been to Turkey before. When we arrived at the hotel we were made to wait over 2 hours for a room that was not made up. We were told when booking we were to be placed in a family room. The actual room was in the Annex to the hotel which was, in fact, a twin room.
Staff at the hotel had to go and make up the room with an additional camp bed and our 11 year old son had to sleep on a window seat.
The staff at the hotel barely speak English but fluent in German, Russian and Rumanian. When questioned about the room we were given an option of a further room which was right opposite an all night disco, (and exactly the same as the room we were given!). All rooms on their site show occupancy of max 3 people!!!
Plenty of food options available in buffet style, however nothing very suitable for children who do not like continental food. Although due to it being all inclusive there is plenty of opportunity for them to fill up on crepes, doughnuts and soft drinks throughout the day.
Any entertainment is in German, also nothing to entertain young children.
In conclusion if you do not speak fluent German we would seriously recommend you do not go to this hotel.

Aug 2006, Mr S Jones

This hotel is rated as five-star in Turkey, but really the standard and decor is more a generous four-star.
The hotel is clean and there are plenty of facilities, however it is set in an area where there is not much to do other than peruse the countless shops selling cheap fake clothes.
The real failure of this hotel is the fact that hardly any of the staff speak English. Even trying to work out how to use a safety deposit box is a near impossible task.
The hotel is geared mainly towards Russians and Germans, therefore I would be weary of taking any last minute "cheap deals" to English customers in a bid to boost its occupancy rate. Even those who do speak pigeon English have little regard in terms of customer service - they see having to deal with English customers as an inconvenience. And all evening entertainment is offered either in Russian of German.

Just wanted to write a short note to...
5 / 10
Aug 2006, Mr P Todd

Just wanted to write a short note to warn other Brits about this hotel- there is a severe lack of English speaking staff so beware if you have any problems. The hotel does not warn of the open air disco next to the hotel that will require you to wear earplugs if you wish to sleep!
The food is of a normal quality but the rooms in our block left a lot to be desired-the wardrobes were too smelly to put our clothes in and the bathroom was so small you had to shuffle in and close the door before you could sit in the very smelly bathroom!
There were no drawers to put clothes away so we lived out of suitcases for two weeks. The plus side is the hardworking animation team and the large amount of self service - drinks are easily accessible and food is available for most of the day. There is a free beach towel service which allows you to trade for clean towels every day to take to the sun beds/beach.
