Great Value for a Great Resort

I recently stayed at the resort for 2 weeks in May 2003. I had a fantastic time. The resort is spacious and beautiful with gorgeous landscaping. The resort is very colourful, staffed by engaging and entertaining people. The beach is beautiful with nice views of the bay, soft sand and is groomed nightly. My gripe is that the guests would litter on the beach expecting it to be cleaned up right away, so it was a little dirty. There was towels and beach chairs provided and were always available. There are vendors on the beach which was fine unless they approached you 3 times in 2 hours which can be annoying. They are not aggressive, and respect your refusal of the sale. The resort had 4 pools and the adult pool in bloc 5 is quiet. There are bars everywhere, located in the lobbies, restaurants, beaches, and by the pools. The disco is average. A great place if you want to drink and/or dance the night away without going into Peurto Vallarta. We requested that more north american music be played and they did thier best with thier limited supply. The nightly entertainment was usually good, engaging and entertaining. The performers were the same people that organized the daily activites and one has to admire thier endurance! The staff was excellent and very friendly. There is a few that did cross some boundries, though harmless. There was a few waiters that doted on my friend and I, and were always trying to make us laugh. A smile goes along way at this resort. The restaurants are good, but watch out for some undercooked meat. The a la carte restaurants are good, we ate at the Italian restaurant which was delicious. Reservations are required for the a la carte's and must be made between 7:30am and 12:30pm on the same day that you would like to eat at a particular restaurant. The rooms threw us off a bit when we first arrived. We were in the Flamingo section by the adult pool and the decor is colourful but the furniture is basic. The beds are REALLY hard and the blankets were a little worn. The sheets are fis are made daily of course but the sheets are not changed until you check out. A bottle of water is provided to brush your teeth with and to drink, and clean towels are given daily. We tipped the maid $1 a day and a few extras would appear. They would make cute decorations with toilet paper and swans out of towels! Our shower was HUGE, but the paint was peeling and there was mildew from flood damage due to the hurricane in October. Once we got past that we enjoyed our room and its location right by the pool. If you do not like the room that you are in, you go to the lobby and are put on a list for the next available room that may meet your standards. The Tropical section of the resort has newer furnishings and newer showers, so in away it is nicer. The water at the resort is fine and safe drinking water is available at the restaurants. You can also fill up your water bottles at the restaurants as well. The gift shop also sells bottled water, but it is not neccessary. DO NOT drink the tap water and avoid swallowing it while showering to avoid any digestive problems. Bucerias is a 15-20min walk from the resort which is interesting, and the goods in the village are better priced than in Peurto Vallarta. We took the shuttle into Peurto Vallarta twice which was only 40 pesos. We also went on the Pub Crawl that can be booked through the resort. That was a blast! There are also other tours available that are excellent oppurtunites. The water activites are so much fun, with boogie boarding, kayaking and other water sports. In the end I had a fantastic time at the resort. Everything about the resort, it's staff and facilites was excellent. Security was amazing and dispelled any difficult situations immediately. I felt safe and that my belongings were safe as well. There was a great mix of guests, families from Mexico, tourists from Canada, the UK, and the US. I would recommend this resort to those with a moderate budget and not expecting luxury and 5 star services for the price that they are paying. The resort has a laid nt value and I would definately go back jsut becasue of the atmosphere that envelops the guests that stay at this resort.
Never Wanted to Leave

I have been whimpering ever since I came home. The Royal Decameron was FABULOUS! I'm a vegetarian, and I always had plenty to eat. I never got sick. The restaurants were adorable. The grounds/rooms were immaculate. The scenery was enchanting. There was ALWAYS something to do. Most importantly, the staff there was AMAZING. They were SO friendly and welcoming. The manager even gave my friend and me ten dollars for a cab out of his own pocket when we missed the bus for our excursion. I hope someday I get to go back.

My trip to the Royal Decameron was amazing. Everything from the food, the service, nightly entertainment, to the open bar, the beach and the activities throughout the day were awesome. I couldn't ask for a better trip that I will remember for a lifetime. Me and my 5 girlfriends went on this trip to have a hoilday and relax and we all did that at this wonderful all inclusive resort. I definatly did not have any bad experiences at the resort what so ever. Whenever I needed something or had a problem the employees were there and were willing to help me. I would say that they have the best employees that I have ever seen throughout my travelling experiences. The activities at this resort were so much fun. If it wasnt boogie boarding, playing beach volleyball, etc there always was something fun to do. The all inclusive part to this resort was seriously the best. The food, nightly entertainment and the bars were awesome. I got friendly service which made me smile everyday I was there. The bars there was so awesome. The bartenders were so friendly and when you got to know them they were like your best friends. When me and my bestfriends would hit up the bar they always had another drink ready for you before you had the first one done and they were always willing to make your experience the best they could possibly be.The nightly entertainment was amazing. From Mexican shows to Mime shows they were really well performed. All of the activity crew at the resort made this all possible with their long hours practicing to give all their customers an amazing evening full of fun and entertainment. When I went to the shows I had so much fun paticipating or even just watching them. The disco at the resort was a blast. With the different coloured lights,to the bar and music it was a great time. The one thing I really loved about this resort was that no matter what time it was it the day or night they always had something to do until 3am. Ya people might say that one bad thing was that this resort is about a half an hour awnds who love to shop we felt that the little village called bucaries was so much better to shop from and cheaper than going downtown. To take a taxi to bucaries it cost us 2$ US and to take a taxi downtown it cost us 15$ US. The bus only cost us 9 pecso.I felt that this resort was bulit on a great piece of property because its quiet and was big so there were many things to do then be crowded somewhere downtown with lots of noise. Seriously this resort is a great family place. I have never seen a resort like this that catered to the younger children as well as the adults to make them have fun and feel safe. When I was there I felt really safe. No one harassed me while I was laying on the beach to purchase items that the vendors where trying to sell or made me feel intemidated or scared. I really felt confortable to leave my belongings on the chairs while I swam in the beach or went swimming in the pools. All together my experience at the Royal Decameron was definitly a 10 out of 10. For what I payed to go for the 2 weeks I was there was so worth it. I seriously didnt want to come back home because I was having a blast meeting new friends or becoming friends with the employees I just wanted to cry. Now that I am home all I can still think about was my wonderful time I had while I was there and can't wait to come back. My girl friends and I decided as soon as we save up money to come back we are as soon as possible to have another wonderful experience and another trip of a lifetime.
Excellent Value

I can't say enough good things about the Royal Decameron. The resort is gorgeous, the beach is pristine, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the endless food and drinks are great. We got much more than what we paid for. The only gripe some may have is the distance from downtown P.V. to this resort; it's a good 30 min away (US$2 for a bus, US$15 for a cab). Also consider when you will be visiting Mexico. We went between the two major Mexican holidays, Semana Santa and Cinco de Mayo, so our resort wasn't crowded with plenty of spots by the pool or beach.

Very Nice Place...Great for Families
from A TripAdvisor Member
This was a fun relaxing place, the only reason I didn't grade it a 5 is because of it's distance to the city and since it was more for a family then my girlfriend and I. If you are looking to bring a family to Royal Decameron then you will definitly have a great time, the food was great, entertainment was great, and they had fun sport competitions everyday. Just a note if you want to eat at the italian restaurant be sure to wake up at 6am to beat all the old farts to get in the line to make reservations. Those fill up quick....but remember the buffets are practically always open. Go here for more pictures mywebpages.comcast.net/smackenzie and select the vacations button on the left and then choose puerto vallarta and then click the numbered buttons.

we went to the Royal Decameron 2 years ago and the staff was just great we made firneds with all of them and met new people and it was just the best. At night they had night shows and we could wlak in to a little village and shop and then they had all kinds of shopping in the town and that wasnt a long ride. Being that i am a teenager i loved it and it's just so safe there my parents went off and did there own thing and let us do our own thing my sisters and i and never even bothered them anyhting could hapen because its just seems so safe which it is and a greta place ot be and we loved it so much we are going back this year!
Friendly place

The place is big, and it takes a couple days to figure out how it all works, but the majority of the staff are terrific and helpful. The main desk staff are kinda cranky and not helpful at all in some areas. We needed a ground floor room due to a knee problem and had stipulated it in our emails etc before arrival. We got the 4th floor and all the 54 stairs leading to it. It was a huge fight to get moved. The food was good, the World of Vacations guide VERY helpful and everything was clean. The place is new but looks like one paint of coat where 3 were needed. The bartenders at the Flamingo bar are sloppy and hurried, but others were fantastic. Lots of funny entertainment every night and the trip to town on the bus for 9 pesos is an adventure in itself! We thought the place was great until we went to another for our 2nd week. Would rate it 6 out of 10 tho.
Hotel was clean and tidy. we went out of season lots of maintenance work but didn't intrude on the holiday. pools were fab, clean and warm. no clocks around area so definitely had to switch off and depend on own body clock. food was good and didn't go hungry. drinks... more
