The hotel is basic, but clean and the swimming pool is fantastic! The beds are "hard as nails", we were in one of the loft rooms where the ceilings were low and uneven so you could render yourself unconcious if you did not put a light on! We also had terrible thunder storms... more

What a find. I've stayed in Olu Deniz 3 times before, including at the Hotel Asena Beach - but Hotel Turquoise has to be my favourite. The room was first class, very clean ( cleaned EVERY day - which is a first for me), overlooked pool - ask for Block 4 if you can and first... more

Chilled out retreat with gorgeous weather
My boyfriend and I recently returned from a 7-night stay at the Turquoise Hotel in Olu Deniz. We booked late, so had to pay sch holiday prices. We finally booked the trip with Thomas Cook, but negotiated a discount after finding it cheaper on the internet. We also hired a car separately to avoid the horrid transfer from airport to resort. Arriving in Turkey at 4am in the morning and navigating some quite dreadful roads was not the most pleasant start to the holiday, but the hotel was a welcome sight. The room was extremely basic (2* UK standard), but had air-con, decent shower and bathroom facilities (heated by solar, so we had the odd early morning cold shower!). We had a ground floor room by the pool, so kept fairly cool at all times. Some other rooms looked like they had been refurbished, and our room was in need of this, but did not detract from the rest of the hotel. The pool area was lovely, spacious and clean (children were also fairly well behaved for Aug!). Night time activities were laid on, but we chose to head into Olu Deniz each night. Hotel is at the top end of the resort, but only 10min walk straight down the main street to the beach. Breakfast basic and pretty pointless, not worth it and the breakfasts in the restaurants in town are amazing. Staff at hotel extremely helpful (our hairdryer broke every night which they fixed within 10mins, but then broke again!) They also let us have a room for a shower before we left in the evening for our night time flight (no charge) Great things about the area/hotel: It is totally chilled out - Olu Deniz has a hippie history, so the legacy remains, bean bags everywhere, and a real 'mañana' attitude which is quite infectious Beach and sea, clean, warm and not over-crowded for peak time Tons and tons of places to eat (Help, Buzz, Sultan Ahmet, Jade Residence recommended) Tons of activities to do within an hours drive (if you can bear competing with the roads and crazy drivers) Everyone is friendly and helpful Not so great things: Although the 'hassle' factor is no where near as bad as other resorts in Turkey, its bearable and could be put down to people being over-friendly Currency conversion - activities will accept any currency, everything is advertised in £ and you often pay over the odds in lira. Suggest taking GBP to pay for trips etc. Overall a fantastic holiday, would return to resort, but maybe look at another hotel. The Turquoise is a great budget hotel and a good base to explore from, but if you want luxury then you will need to pay more, especially during August.
Lovely hotel in a beautiful location!
Stayed at the Turquoise having read some favourable reviews on various websites. Was not dissappointed, however had a shakey start to the holiday...Were initally assigned a room on the ground floor, overlooking a main road and found it to be very loud as there was excessive noise from the hotel's poolside entertainment and also from another direction which was another hotel's poolside music!! Quickly got the room changed and ended up having a lovely quiet room on the first floor right over the other side of the hotel which also had some lovely views of the bay - and the paragliders! Stayed on a b+b basis. Found the breakfast was okay for first few days but did get a bit boring after a while so went out and found there were many restaurants offering very good alternatives. My advice is get down for breakfast as early as you can, as come 9.30am a lot of the selection had gone and it was really busy too. Hotel cleanliness was second to none. The cleaners were all really friendly too and sometimes left lovely towel arrangements and flowers on our bed which added a really special touch. Poolside was good, good snacks and cheap too. Drinks prices not outrageous as end of holiday bar bill was not as painful as we thought it might be. Entertainment in hotel seemed to very good if you like that sort of thing. Personally I don't go in much for that, as I like to get out and about everynight despite the bar people pushing for us to various cabaret / themed nights! One tip - have a Turkish Bath at the hotel. It was great! I even pursuaded my boyfriend to have one and we were both unbelievably relaxed afterwards, very nice thing to do couple of days into your stay. All in all, a great stay and would highly recommend to anyone.
Great Holiday
Fabulous Hotel, set at the top of the resort just a short walk into the heart of Olu Deniz. I think this is the best situated Hotel in Olu Deniz. The room we had was well proportioned, clean with free air con. There was also a minibar. The bathroom had a great shower with plenty of hot water. and yes there is a hair dryer! The grounds to this Hotel are glorious with fantastic mountain views and pretty, well maintained gardens. The pool area is a great size and during the day we had great fun playing water polo, water net ball and water gym. We stayed on a B&B basis and was amazed at the variety and excellent standard of the breakfast on offer, contrary to other reports. Even asked if there was anything else we could think of to put on! What was particulary good about this Hotel was the staff. They were all so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. They operate a credit type card system for drinks, snacks etc. which you pay at reception. We found it easiest to settle daily. No problems experienced. Osmen,Geoffrey and the staff worked tirelessly to ensure everybody had a good time. Will definetely go back. PS Dont leave without trying the paragliding, an experience not to be missed.
Well worth it
Definitely a 3 star hotel. Exceptionally clean in all public areas and bedroom. VCery friendly staff and nothing seems too much trouble. AT the top of the main streeet right by the mountains. In May there was plenty of room in the restaurants and by the pool. Not sure what it would be like in peak season. Havce spevcial nights where they bring in entertainment. Food OK but after 2 weeks it gets a little boring but plenty of variety in the restaurants in the town. Operate on the basis of a credit card where all purchases in the hotel are signed for and pay at the end. Prices for drinks competitivce as are the lunches by the pool.
Hated it...
We booked this as a 4* hotel with Right Holidays but upon arrival it was clear that this was not the case. I had looked at reviews provided by people that had stayed there but was very disappointed with the hotel. Medhotels.com list this as a 5* hotel but in our opinion this is no higher than 3* which is what Thomson advise it is. The room was clean but very basic and there was also a problem with the bathroom as we could hear everything that the people above us were saying and it was so clear that when we first walked into the room we thought there was someone in the bathroom and that we'd been shown to the wrong room. At night we had to make sure the bathroom door was closed so that the noise didn't wake us up. The food was awful and repetitive and although we were booked on an All Inclusive tariff, the only meals that we ate there was breakfast which consisted of tea and toast (bread was lovely). The lunchtime menu consisted of burger, chips or pizza (everyday) and at best, was served, tepid. If you wanted an omelette that had to be paid for even if you were on AI tarif. The weather was awful for 4 consectutive days, which we realise was beyond their control but although there was a lot of children in this hotel there was no alternative entertainment laid on to keep them occupied. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful but this did not make up for the fact that the hotel was a lot more basic than we were led to believe. The satellite tv in the rooms that the hotel lists as a feature consisted of one english speaking channel (BBC World News) which got very boring when you had been confined to the room for 4 days due to weather conditions. There was no tea or coffee making facilities in the room which you would expect in a 4* hotel although there was a fridge in which you could keep drinks cold. We would not stay in this hotel again, even if the holiday was offered free.
Would definitely go back!
Had two weeks at the Hotel Turquoise in Sept 2006 on a half board basis. Olu Deniz is a lovely holiday destination and I would highly recommend this hotel. The rooms were pretty basic but were clean and with air con. The hotel itself is within walking distance of the main drag which has lots of great restaurants, bars and touristy shops. Staff were very friendly and helpful although evening entertainment is somewhat limited. Only criticism I would have is that breakfast is basic - breads, cheeses and some fruit.
Excellent Hotel
This is an excellent and friendly hotel. We stayed there during September on a B&B basis which was good. Don't bother with half board or all incl, there are loads of great restaurants at reasonable prices. The gardens are beautiful and the pool is great. There is also a pool bar available that sells a great selection of cocktails. This hotel also runs a tab system, so anything you buy during the week is put on a tab and you pay at the end of your stay - perfect! The rooms are also very good and many have a pool/sea view. The hotel is in a fab location, just up from the main street, so you are away from the main hustle and bustle but it literally takes 5 mins to walk there. It takes 10 mins to walk to the beach and 15 mins to the blue lagoon. I would recommend this to anyone. Brilliant!
Lovely hotel - would go again
We have just returned from a two week holiday at the Turquoise Hotel in Olu Deniz. The hotel is surrounded by the mountains and the scenery is quite breathtaking. The complex is filled with palm trees and plants and is very green. There was a nice pool which was the focus of some water activities for the kids (and adults) during the afternoon. We stayed at the hotel on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfasts were good (traditional turkish breakfasts were available daily). We did stay at the hotel a few times for the barbeques, which were held every night and there was an excellent selection of food (the traditional Turkish Night is a must!). Our room was basic, but quite big and very clean. The best thing about our stay was the fantastic staff who work at the hotel who go out of their way to make your holiday very enjoyable. They are extremely friendly and very good with the children (our 11 year old says this was the best holiday he has ever had). Entertainment was also provided every night. The hotel is only a short walk away from Olu Deniz town centre - which provided everything we wanted - lovely restaurants (my recommendation would be the Sultan Ahmet's Desti Kebab), bars and shops which sell all the genuine fakes! Overall we were very pleased with our holiday and would definately go back to the Turquoise Hotel.
Great find
Stayed here late Sept 2000. Very pleased with the hotel, great pool area. Bfast & dinner served in a large wooden pagoda overlooking pool, great food, nice staff. Entertainment 2 a week, belly dancers etc, good value. Room plain but comfortable. Only shame was the noise from the other hotels who insist on blasting very loud bad euro music 12 hours a day. This seems to be Olu Deniz though and thats what happens. Would stay here again, a nice 10 min walk to the beach.
Turquoise Hotel
Stayed at Turquoise Hotel in August 2004 very friendly hotel, staff couldnt do enough, clean and resonably priced not a 4* but a good standard. Olu Deniz is a compact resort having every thing you need, food and drink are very resonable in turkey. We have never been back to the same place twice but with Olu Deniz next year we will be making an exception a thoroughly enjoyable holiday.
