Fab!!!
Stayed here for my 1st wedding anniversary at the weekend and loved it so much. Have stayed in soem amazing hotels all over the world before and this compares in terms of the standards and design. They knew if was our anniversary and left champers in the bedroom and also gave is compimentary champers with our meal which was also fab. room was also reasobly prices, have paid the same in london for something 1/2 the size and nowhere near the standard. loved it. view wasn't great but we weren't there for that!
Great hotel
Really nice hotel. Very overpriced, but rooms were fantastic, and the little spa really comfy with a nice sauna and a steam room. Really really nice rooms (and fantastic bedlints)
great hotel
i have now stayed at this hotel on a number of occasions, in both standard and suites. i love this hotel, clean and of high standard- and friendly staff ( i even got a welcome back card last time) my only complaint is of the meals, highly priced for the quality, but with lovely restaurants in the mailbox and tesco express 4 breakfast who cares?????
Overpriced but pleasant enough
Hi Visited Birmingham for my partner's 40th Birthday. Booked online direct through the hotel website and paid £99 for a night without breakfast. I asked for a free upgrade when I checked in (always worth while!) and they obliged. Room was very pleasant. Large comfortable bed, nice bathroom, but no robe which is surprising at this price, sofa, CD etc. The location was brilliant for us as I had booked my partner into Nicky Clarke for a haircut first thing in the morning. As a tight wad git I bought pastries from Tesco out the back of the... more
Nice building, fairly decent room
Stayed one night at the Malmaison in Birmingham. Arrived before 11am, but no problem, we were able to access our room straight away. Efficient, polite service at the front desk. For me, once you've stayed in a couple of the Malmaison hotels, the rooms all start to feel the same - although the converted prison in Oxford is probably the exception! Usual comfortable, large bed, although the view over central Birmingham isn't the greatest. The bathroom was small but clean, although one of the wall brackets on the heated towel... more
Food at the Malmaison
The rooms are fab - very spacious, comfortable and quite homely. However, the food lets this hotel down. I have stayed here twice (and due to stay again next week). On each occasion I have had to return food because it was either not cooked thoroughly (raw burger) or it wasn't cooked correctly (risotto where they had thrown all the ingredients together at once) or it was burnt (black pain au chocolat first thing in the morning is very unpleasant). I now buy my food in Selfridges food hall and eat it in the room.
leeds devotees will be sorely disappointed
We've stayed at M/Maison Leeds many times so when we planned our trip to birmingham their hotel was our natural choice, given the superb quality in Leeds. How wrong were we! They changed dinner to 6:45 from 7:30 2 days b4 we arrived with no real explanation. Arrived at 3pm on the day to find rooms still being made up, dirty lifts, no CD or water in room and noisey air con. It went downhill from there on in. The resturant is far too full of tables. We were accused of being late and then treated extremely rudely. And despite... more
Nice trendy hotel
Stayed at Birmingham's Malmaison hotel for 2 nights in November 2005. Overall this hotel is lovely. We had a corner room on the 4th floor which meant our room was a nice shape. The rooms are quite dark but very comfortable with a couch to sit on and a cd player. Lighting in the bathroom is good and great toiletries! Spund proofing between rooms is good. Breakfast service could be speedier. As everything is cooked to order it can take quite a while for the (admittedly delicious) food to arrive. Also service at the main reception... more
Very Disappointed
Despite pre-booking an early check-in time (12 noon) we had to wait an hour and half to get into our room. Although many previous night guests had departed it still took an hour and a half to prepare a room for us. The hotel staff were not understanding or sympathetic. At one point they forgot we were waiting for the room and tried to re-check us in. The reception staff service was slow, unttentive and not customer friendly. I have never stayed at a Malmaison before but have heard good things about them so was looking forward to... more
Very Nice Modern Hotel
This was my first visit to a Malmaison hotel. The room was first class and all the public areas were very modern and contemporary. Staff were mixed but overall friendly. Will definately stay at a Malmaison again. I hope they are all as good.
