Don't bother!
The service levels at this hotel are appalling - I have stayed there 3 times in 12-months, but only because it was the closest hotel to my next-day business meetings. Today I tried to book again with them directly by phone. As usual the receptionist had a poor command of the English language and could not grasp the spelling of my straightforward British surname. She had also interrupted the call twice to deal with other things which were obviously far more important than my business. After being asked for the fourth time how to... more
Loved The Price!
This was my second stay at this hotel and much hasn't changed, apart from the efficiency of the staff and their hospitality. I think that the hotel has dropped in these areas because this time around they made a lot of mistakes with regards to our room choice and also the waitress who was serving in the morning was not very friendly! But on the plus side their prices are excellent if you're very budget minded as I am! Also the town centre is quite near (about a 15 minute walk). But I definitely wouldn't recommend walking anywhere... more
Just what we needed
This is the perfect place to stay if you just want a clean, comfortable bed for the night and a breakfast to get you going the next morning. There's nothing special about the place, but it is perfectly adequate, very convenient for the city centre and, probably most importantly, cheap! Yes, it is a little shabby and could do with a lick of paint. Yes, its not exaclty got the best views - but it is very close to the ring road and the links to the M6 and has a large, free, secure car park. Best of all, the beds have duvets!... more
Value
Stayed here recently and found the hotel to be very good value. The hotel is very handily located for the motorway network, but is a far walk from the city centre and a cab costs £6. The hotel is located next to a canal which is quite nice but there is nothing else around it aprt from industrial units and you are stuck for places to eat unless you go into town or eat at the hotel's bistro which has a very limited menu. The rooms are on the small side and could do with a face lift and the showers not the best, but they are clean and... more
Sleep in your car!!
Make sure you call ahead if you want to make sure they give you a non-smoking room. We booked online and requested it, but they "never got the request" and wouldnt do anything to help us. The room smelled so bad that we went and got febreze to spray it down...it didnt even help. MAKE SURE YOU RESERVE WHAT YOU WANT IF YOU DONT BOOK THROUGH THEM. Its totally no frills, but I'd rather sleep in my car:)
Great Value
We stayed at this hotel for 1 night and for the price we paid we found it excellent value. Shop around the web as they charge £52.00 per night at the hotel and I paid a fair bit less than that although breakfast wasn't included. The hotel is clean and comfortable, staff were friendly, parking was included in the price, there's a bar and restaurant and it's fairly close to the centre (15mins or so walk). My only complaint was that everytime I laid on the bed I smacked my head on the extremely hard head board. My partner learnt after... more
Great Value
Second time i've stayed here and it's a great, value for money hotel. Ok the area is not very attractive, even though we had a 'pleasant' canal view from our room it was ruined slightly by the graffiti on the wall opposite. It's also a taxi ride away from the city centre but that's not a major problem - last time i stayed in the centre we paid £19 for parking, at Campanile it's free parking and your taxi only costs £5. We paid just £35 for a twin room, that doesn't include breakfast but even that's only £6.20! We didn't take... more
Excellant Value
We have just returned from Hotel Campanile after a break of a few days. Staff at reception very friendly and helpful. Excellent value, especially at meal times Breakfast Buffet £6.20. I would reccommend this all you can eat and more. Dinner we opted for Bistro meal again exceptional value another Buffet (our choice). Dining staff could be a bit more friendly. Room was adequate and beds where comfortable and clean. Bathroom was o.k. needed cleaned behind door where black hairs stayed for the 2 days. (we our both... more
Excellent Value for money
This hotel is brilliant value for money for anyone staying in Birmingham for one or two nights. The rooms were clean, staff friendly, good parking and the bed was extremely comfortable! Very close to the city centre so very good for shops and eating out. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for christmas shoppers! Would definately stay there again.
Good Value for Money
My partner and wanted somewhere cheap but clean for Saturday 23rd April and this hotel seemed the best value for money. On arrival we were a bit disappointed with the surroundings of the hotel – it is literally situated on an extremely run down industrial estate beneath a busy flyover, which you are not told when booking. The hotel has security gates which lock at 11pm and they recommend that you do not walk alone at night near the hotel - and it is pretty obvious as to why this is! However the city centre is only a 5-minute drive... more
