Thistle Birmingham City Hotel

I stayed at this hotel for one night in December to attend a concert in Birmingham. The City Thistle was easy to find. I simply left the motorway and drove straight on until I reached it. We parked in the adjacent carpark and were shown to a room which overlooked it. We were able to see our car clearly from the hotel window. It's an unattractive but somewhat reassuring view. A decent, comfortable business-oriented hotel, with good value rates on the weekend. Room was fine, front desk staff were polite and competent. I did not eat at the hotel. Hotel is located about a 5 minute walk from Snow Hill train station. But a difficult 5 minute walk it is, with road construction that will be continuing into next year.

Looks terrible outside but if you can find it, its high quality. Its worth staying in a four star hotel because everything from the courtesy of reception, through the spotless comfort of the furnishings to the rubber ducks at the side of the bath tell you somebody somewhere thinks your worth it. Either this hotel has shaped up dramatically or previous reviewers were rival hoteliers. Recommended.

I stayed at The Thistle in Birmingham because my usual was fully booked. 1st impressiotns are that if you are a stranger to Birmingham, the location isnt ideal.. Its a little bit out of the way but once your get there the hotel cant really be fauted.. I booked a single room which was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean and airey. I dont know if I would stay here again but if your visit is just a one-off go for it... Book early and you get some great deals, I only paid £42 for a night..
