I can't agree with the previous comment on food. This was by no means excellent. Also, not sure what the 4 stars stand for. Not for the hotel standard, that's for sure.
For a cheap price, it is ok to stay there, but keep your expectations low.

Just back from the Summa Paguera in...

Sep 2007, Mrs S Stevens

Just back from the Summa Paguera in Paguera, Majorca. No reviews on UK sites before we went so didn't know what to expect.
This hotel and resort cater mostly for Germans and Dutch and some of the hotel staff don't speak English. 4* and has 100 rooms. It was refurbished in 2005. First impressions - reception/public areas really lovely and worthy of rating.
The hotel is on a busy street and quite crammed in amongst other big hotels so not much space around it, or gardens etc. Swimming pool rather cramped with only about 20 sunbeds. Small indoor pool too.
The food is excellent. Plenty of choice and variety to suit everyone but don't expect chips with everything. Not a typical English menu, I am happy to say.
Our room was very nice, with pool view. It provided air conditioning, TV (no English speaking channels), tea making facilities, all the toiletries you need - even a toothbrush and toothpaste! Very nicely decorated and fairly spacious with lovely bathroom. Daily towel change and the sheets were changed twice in our week.
There is entertainment which is fairly low key and not 'in your face' but we didn't use this facility so can't comment. The hotel is about 200 metres downhill to the main street and a little further to the beach.
The resort itself was brilliant - very busy - lovely atmosphere in the evenings - with lots of shops, restaurants and bars, some with live music, and street entertainers, but not a lager lout in sight. Again, it mostly caters for the Germans with hardly any menus etc in English.
You can track down a couple of English bars in side streets if you want them but you won't see English football matches in every bar here! The beach is gorgeous - white sands and shallow waters - excellent for young families. There is a public bus service which is very good and frequent to all resorts along south coast into Palma and to Port d'Andraitx the other way. We used the buses a lot and they were very inexpensive.
We hired a car for three days to go further afield and this cost only £53 from King Cars. We had a really good week in Paguera with very hot weather and can honestly say we had no complaints at all. We have stayed in Porta Pollensa, Alcudia, Porto Cristo, Cala Ratjada, and Can Pastilla on Majorca before and would definitely return to Paguera.
I would say though, pack your anti-mosquito lotion as there were loads of mosquitoes around and we were badly bitten on the first night before we realised it!

This hotel was the worst hotel I have...
1 / 10
Jun 2004, Mr S Carr

This hotel was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, me and 3 friends went for 10 days and were far from impressed, we went on an all-inclusive basis but ended up spend all our money on food and drink out side the hotel as the food was discussing one of us even found a piece of metal in the fish we tried to eat and when we went to the management to complain they didn’t want to know and wouldn’t file our complaint. We were told we had a poolside snack bar but when we asked were it was and what food was served they told us all we could have was a cheese and ham toasties which in my books is not a snack bar.
(this resort is more of a German resort but on the up-side the area is being advertised more to appeal to the British holiday makers)
The area its-self was ok, but not much happening for the younger holidaymakers like myself the area is clean and well looked after. There are a few English bars there is one of which I would recommend to anyone planning on going to Paguera and that is Bar Calilou the bar is run by a couple from Casleford in West Yorkshire. This is the bar where we spent most of our time and money on food and drink.
I would not recommend the Hotel Eucalipto to anyone but as for the resort I would recommend it to holiday makers looking for a laid back and relaxed holiday - not suitable for younger holiday makers.
