" We went over Christmas of '06 and had... "

We went over Christmas of '06 and had an Ok time. The new anti-smoking law had gone into affect (which I wasn't aware of) so it was extremely difficult to find places to smoke, as to not upset others. The HHV used to be VERY accommodating on our previous 5 trips there but now the smoking thing has really put a damper on whether we will continue spending our hard earned money there. The state law provides for hotels to have up to 20% of their rooms designated for smokers. OK, that's fair. Well the HHV has just a couple rooms and they're in the undesireable Diamond Head Tower. We're used to staying in the Rainbow Tower and paying big bucks. Guess they don't need our money anymore. There's no reason they couldn't have accommodated us "second class citizens" who spend a fortune at their complex, by finding rooms for us in ALL the towers, not just the one. Too bad for them!

Arrived at the Hilton following a fab cruise with Celebrity around the Hawaiian Islands.
The hotel is set in acres of lush tropical gardens, with waterfalls and plenty of wildlife - birds, fish etc. We arrived early and were not due to check in until 2pm - no problem; we were checked in and upgraded to the Alia Tower.
The rooms were fantastic, lots of room, wonderful views and the most comfortable bed I've slept in! There are lots of shops within the hotel complex and a number of eating places.
The staff were very courteous and helpful. The hotel is on quieter end of Waikiki, the beach is beautiful. The only bad thing was the price of the sunloungers and umbrellas, which I don’t think has anything to do with the hotel. All in all I would certainly recommend this hotel.
We visited in November 2007, the weather was perfect, around 80f during the day, the evening winds arrived around 4pm, and the temp went down to a lovely 68f. NO HUMIDITY, LOVELY TIME TO VISIT!

An absolutely excellent place to stay if you're going to Waikiki.
The only problem is that there's a good chance you'll never leave complex! It's very big with many restaurants and shops, so if you go for a few days (as we did, we went for 5), you might not get to see Honolulu.

If you ever get the chance-go! Quiet, understated luxury set in tropical gardens. Fantastic shopping village, pools and Waikiki beach a barefoot walk away.
The staff were helpful, the rooms beautiful and the whole complex was immaculate. A fantastic place for kids as there was always something going on and no one whatever their age could fail to enjoy feeding the fish or watching the flamingoes and penguins that live in the gardens.
It would be too easy never to leave the complex but Honolulu is a very pleasant walk away and the hotel can organise any trip elsewhere you might wish for.
We spent a week there, eating in different restaurants every night, all were fabulous. In short for a wonderful break or as the most perfect wedding and honeymoon venue imaginable this is the place - an easy 10 out of 10.

This was a wonderful experience for us. Our room had awesome views in every direction that had a window.
What made our stay the very best was that the staff at this property are trained to make their guests feel like royalty. Everyone there went out of their way to make our stay the best ever.
Then to make the experience even better, the restaurant located on the main floor of the building we were staying in served complimentary breakfast to all guests of that building. It was wonderful!
We couldn't have asked for anything better.
If you plan to stay here, make sure you reserve your room early - VERY EARLY because this property is always busy, even during "off-season!" Call the hotel directly to book your room. You'll get better results.
I hope you'll enjoy your trip as much as we did. Good luck and have a wonderful time.
