Comments:  we have just returned from a week at the club julian. and can say that the weather was fantastic 48 degrees. the hotel is great.. the maid service is good cleaning rooms 6 days out of 7.. the food we did not try.. but from other peoples judgement.. it sounded that it was not worth bothering with.. there are 4 pools.. that are well maintained.. the entertainment was rubbish!!! the kids club RUBBISH!! this was our first time to marmaris.. and was told we would love it or hate it... it was good and would definately go back. the only downfall with the julian is that you are approx 15/20 minutes walk away from the beach... if you go you must visit " summer rose restaurant" we found it on day 4.. it is cheap and you get childrens meals free!! and your first drink out of hotel turn right... walk over the cross roads and its on the right hand side. i found marmaris to be very expensive and spent well out of my budget..i think the turkish have seen that they are onto a good thing with the british tourists!!! in all though we had a great time and would definately visit again one day.. but maybe not for a few years.. and if you want to do excursions definately visit NO NAME opposite the hotel.. he was very reasonable in price.. and we had a great day out on the sunshine boat..

Comments:  Just come back from Marmaris, Club Julian - where do I start?? disappointed with the holiday overall. My son was physically attacked by a member of staff whilst using the slide, at least 3 people I know of were robbed, management have no clue how to deal with complaints/emergencies, we spent £1000 even though we were half board because it was so expensive, even then we had to buy our drinks from the shop opposite the hotel and sneak them into the bar or we would have doubled our expenses, adults were served childs portions in the evening (even though it states an open buffet) and some of the waiters were very arrogant and looked at you as if you shouldn't be there.

I think Club Julian has maybe built up a good reputation over the years and is now taking it for granted and letting standards slip. Entertainment team work hard but we found could be rude and insulting at times, definately need more entertainers and more variety. The best thing about the holiday was probably the entertainment, everything else was disappointing. Could do with training in customer service - wouldn't go back if it was free.

Comments:  We have been back a couple of weeks now, and had time to reflect on this holiday. Our party was 4 adults and 5 children, and overall the holiday was good.
Ive only rated it a 7 overall, as I feel there are quite a few factors that need looking at.
Dont get me wrong, if you have booked up and are going this or next year-dont panic, it will be fine. But save up, as Turkey is now very expensive. The prices have nearly doubled in the last couple of years, and you get the feeling wherever you go they are trying to fleece you. The weather was faultless. Blue sky holiday all the way and temps. well into the 40s+ everyday.
Hotel was fine. Im amazed that other people say its the best holiday ever, and cant wait to go back to Club Julian. It makes you wonder where else they have been.
I would say it is a 3 star hotel, but we upgraded on arrival to half board as it was cheaper to do so than eat out all the time. The food was very good though - and plenty of it. Choice was very good even for the kids.
Lunchtime food around the pool was good value for money, and they even carved chicken kebabs by the poolside, which smelt lovely.
The wrist band system, I found a pain. You were always going to reception and putting more money on it, but on the plus side it meant you didnt need to take cash down to the pool.
Drinks are like pub prices at home almost, and around the resort soft drinks for the kids were as much as the beer, so smuggle cans of coke in with you from the supermarkets.! The rooms in the hotel are ok. We had a 2 bedroomed apartment and was big enough with fridge to store all beer, cold water and fruit etc. from the large KIPA supermarket nearby. Our air conditioning wasnt up to scratch, but if you keep on, they eventually changed the whole unit, which was then great. We took the drinks down to the pool area to save paying their prices. Watch your stuff in your room. Hire a safe. We had a stack of coins taken, obviously by the cleaner. The rooms werent cleaned very well at all, maybe we were just unlucky with our lazy thief of a cleaner though !
The pools are quite small but a great relief from the heat.Quite a few suffered with sore ears though. Sunbeds - well be up by 7am in peak season, and you cant leave your towels. You must stay with them or staff will remove them and dump them in reception. The staff are friendly, but I feel they were only interested in my teenage daughter.!
Kids clubs were ok for all ages, my kids went some days when they could be bothered.
My big gripe was the pool tables in the bar area near the pool. The were charging stupid money - abou 7 lira for half hour - which is over £3 and when the half hour is up they just take the balls off - mid-game. Not amused with that. This was the only thing for the lads to do, and was a rip off. Go down the road to the Yes Sir bar where it is free. The evening entertainers work hard, but are not great. The hotel doesnt do enough to keep people in the hotel in the evenings. Its alot cheaper to go for a walk as most bars do B.O.G.O.Free.
Overall the hotel is ok for a base, although the food was very, very good.
Trips - be careful. We booked from No Name across the road from the hotel, and they are your best friend until they have your money. We had problems. We booked to go on the jeep safari and all inclusive boat trip. Please be aware that all the holiday companies refuse to include the jeep safari in their trips as they are so dangerous.
We decided to go, but our jeep was the worst in the fleet. No roll bar, no seatbelts, and as we had 5 children refused to go in it. Our replacement was only marginally better, but decided to go. Be prepared to be soaked with water pistols from start to finish, which was fun in the heat. But our jeep broke down at the first hill side and wasnt going to go. With us all in it, the driver tried jump starting it whilst rolling back towards the cliff edge, and as he braked, skidded closer towards the edge. That was it. All out.
We refused to go further or get back in, and had to wait half hour to get picked up. By this time the temp. is in the 40s stranded on a hillside with 5 kids. To cut a long story short, we had to demand our money back and threaten them with police and even fisty cuffs - after this they eventually paid up. !! The boat trip though was great.!
Price haggling in shops still, but be careful, if you are not switched on, they will rip you off.
The hotel and the whole resort was full of just British holidaymakers - which I liked.
I think thats enough, I hope I havent put you off. Overall the 11 night holiday was good.
Just remember that Turkey is no longer a cheap destination. They have caught on and have doubled thier prices. 4.50 lira for Sun newspaper- over £2, and the News of the World paper is 8 lira - almost £4 ! I rest my case. (and no, I didnt buy one ) !
Hotel - ok
Food - very good
Weather - great
People - crooks !
Would I go back ? - No.

Comments:  just got back from our fantastic 2 week holday at the club julian and we will definately go back. The rooms and food were very good. The entertainers worked very hard all day and night to ensure a good time was had by all.
This was our 4th year here and we have met some lovely people who have become friends and we meet up each year so there is always somebody to chat to and get involved with the games on stage with.I love joining in the mini disco with my grandchildren doing cartoon heroes and the new chocolatey song and even in the pool for the morning aqua stretch theres something for all ages.
we did find it more expensive than previous years even outside the hotel, but all in all it was worth it.
To all at club julian thankyou and keep up the good work love Dave Ann Mark Sam and children.

Comments:  Club Julian is a lovely hotel - our two bed apartment was good (and large) and kept nice and clean so we had no complaints in that respect - but it is miles from the beach and the main Marmaris area - at least 15 mins walk.

We were very disappointed with the daily hotel entertainment - the areas used were far two small (20+ grown men squashed into a tiny area of the pool to play water polo and the grassed area - well, nothing good to say about that for its use for football - so dangerous!) and this was one of the main reasons we chose the hotel. Our boys - 15 & 18 - were completely bored! The entertainments team seemed to be more interested in being "one of the boys" than anything else - loud and just wanting to jump in the pool all day! The girls especially appeared to be very loud and brash. I can't comment on the nightly entertainment as we went out each night - although, on arriving back early one night it did seem to be very loud!

One highlight of our holiday was something we didn't think we would book - due to the expense - but we are so glad we did as it was the only day of the holiday my 15 year old enjoyed. This was the European Seasports day - he went mountain biking, hubby and I went Kayaking and eldest learnt scuba diving! This trip cannot be booked with the locals and can only be done through the tour rep! It was a brilliant day in a gorgeous setting - and we were quite tempted to go in our 2nd week as well.

We found all the local restaurants to be very repetative - with the same food and the same extremely dated "entertainment" - I'm sure the Macarena and Saturday Night were playing when we were in Turkey around 10 years ago!! All the prices varied - and in most you had to ask for the free drink from the BOGOF offer!

We used nearby Icmeler beach (but catch the buses - one into town and then one to Icmeler - as the taxis are expesive) as it was much nicer than Marmaris beach. Icmeler itself is also much more laid back than Marmaris at night time as well.

Overall we found that Turkey was different than we remembered - the locals seem more "wised up" and you constantly feel as though you may be being ripped off - either in the shops and supermarkets (nothing with prices on) and also in the bars! They are extremelly pushy - with my eldest even being insulted when he wouldn't trade his new Chelsea football top for a watch!!

The place is fairly expensive - we spent much more than we thought.

Comments:  very expenive in complex..............best going to shop opposite for everything. 1/4 of the price of the club julian..!! customer services is horrendous. they want 40 lira to use the fridge, not even a mini bar, just a locked fridge..!! the bar wont even give u ice to take to your room. air conditioning is pathetic. restaurant staff scratch thier privates whilst serving food so we had to eat out and didn't benefit from the half board we paid for..!! the only good thing was Ali and Turkish bath. He is sound, good laugh and Turkish bath is very clean and private. Andi and Anji

Comments:  Just got back from 2 weeks at Club Julian. We had a great time overall and the kids loved it. They were thoroughly entertained all day and night. The kids entertainers were fantastic, always cheerful and never complained when they got thrown in the pool! We stayed in a self catering 2 bedroom apartment which was nice and spacious, but the bathroom was in need of some maintenance. Also, our toaster didn't work and we sent it away for repair on the second day and never got it back. Got the impression that self catering visitors wern't as important as the Full/Half Board visitors.

The pool bar has a great menu selection and is reasonably priced, watch out for the prices of the drinks though, drinks prices are not on the menu. The shop was okay, not much variety though.

The swimming pools were fantastic. My kids (age 13 and 11) loved them, especially the slides. They did both come home with ear infections though (possibly my fault for not taking precautions). If you want a sun bed in a nice spot by the pool GET UP EARLY! We were up at 8.30am one morning and there was not a free sunbed in sight, plenty of towels on sunbeds but not many people occupying them.

We booked all our excursions through Andy. He has a booking office opposite the hotel. We booked 5 trips - Atlantis Waterpark, Jeep Safari, 1001 Turkish Nights, boat trip to Dalyan (which included mud bath and trip to turtle beach), Sunseekers Cruise and got a free moonlight cruise. Total price for all trips for 2 adults and 2 children was £187. Had we booked through Thomas Cook at the hotel it would have been double this. There is usually someone taking a DVD of the day trips and cost between 35 and 45 lira to buy, they are a good memory of the day and we bought one of the Turkish Nights purely because we were on stage so much. You have to pay in advance and they say they will deliver to your hotel the next day. We waited 2 days and still no DVD, hotel said they couldn't do anything or contact anyone so we spoke to Andy our tour operator and he went to pick it up for us which I thought was good service.

If you run out of cash you can withdraw some at the hotel but they charge 5% commission and there is sometimes bank charges on top of that. We took cash and a Thomas Cook Travelex Cash Passport that you load with a certain amount of money before you go and we were told we could use it like a debit/credit card. You can't! The hotel didn't accept the card and the only place we could use it was at a cash machine. The only help we got from the hotel was to catch a number 2 bus into the centre and there will be one there. Good old Andy to the rescue again. He drove my husband to the nearest cash point which is about a mile away.

Overall our holiday was fantastic the food and weather was good. I would recommend Club Julian to families with children as my kids were never bored.

Comments:  Have just arrived back from a two week half board holiday at club julian, and wanted to let everyone know what a great time we all had.We have two children aged eleven and six,and can honestly say we could have stayed for a month.

The local bus service was easy to use,and I would recommend a trip to Icmeler beach wich was really lovely. We bused into town nearly every day and have returned with some great bargains.

The staff at the hotel are helpful and friendly, and for all you foodies out there, you won't be disappointed, there was a great deal of choice and it was delicious. The only down side for us was having to get up really early to reserve some sun loungers, however,we are more beach/explorer types so at least we were not getting up early every day.

My six year old in particular, really enjoyed the entertainment, and the staff worked very hard to ensure that the kids had a good time.We would come back here again.

Comments:  Hi, just done two weeks in Turkey Club Julian. Overall holiday was good and relaxing. The initial look of the hotel is really nice, lovely cool looking reception and shops etc. Even the public toilets in the main hotel block are fabulous!!!

We were meant to be booked into a duplex but somehow got put into a 2 bed apart, not sure why and whether we lost out or not, we did ask at reception a day or so later and got told that the apartment was better as it was bigger!

Not sure if I would call our apartment 4 star quality - although clean and tidy, definately worn out looking in certain areas, like the bathroom and soft furnishings. Also we had a visitor (Cockcroachy) popped in twice (once a week)!!!!!

Also decided to go half board (originally booked self catering) this kind of helped us out a bit, as we discovered that "cheap" turkey was not "cheap". We were led to believe that drinks and foods were cheap and good but I think Turkey has caught on, it was like eating and drinking out in London everynight. Kids drinks are not included in the "happy hour" by the Pool Bar, dont ask me why!!!! Kids large coke cost as much as the Beer!!!

Kids loved the slides and didnt seem to mind that they are closed more than they are opened. We enjoyed the daily quiz and did the bingo (just the once and won!!!).

There is a "beauty" salon on site which offer manicures and pedicures, there is also a very annoying Turkish Bath man who walks around with his clip board constantly looking to book you in, if you see him either pretend you are asleep or better still tell him you have already booked in elsewhere, he is a pain in the neck, I was having a relaxing pedicure one day and he sat next to me and proceeded to tell me all about the benefits (again) I pointed out that I was trying to have a peaceful pedicure at which point he gave up (I have since met people who also mentioned the annoyed Turkish Bath man, who by the way is not cheap)!

We booked a couple of trips with both the Thomas Cook reps and the No Name agency over the road, the Safari Jeep - is one for the kids, you are wet from 10am to 6.30pm, you will need a large water gun and plenty of large water bottles. Dont wear good clothes or shoes! You have been warned! We enjoyed the day the only draw back was the constant stopping off breaks, and the feeling of being ripped off at all these local cafes etc.

Talk of the Town, was a good laugh, went on for longer that I had expected, and we didnt get any hassle - good value for money and made a nice change. Raffle not worth it.

Markets, the Thursday market was good, got some good "real" fakes! bought some Lyle and Scotts polo shirts 2 for 25 lira - hope you do better!

Wednesday market in Icemelar - didnt like this market too much hassle, too hot, too many people, and some angy turks (we didnt realise that it cost a lira to take a pee in their w.c - no sign etc) and we were suddenly surrounded by a bunch of market traders shouting for their lira!!!!

Dalaman Airport - OMG - the price for a KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, if you double the prices in London then you could triple it in the Airport!!!! Unbelievable, take it from me, take plenty of frozen drinks (so they last in case you get delayed - we were for 3 hours no explanation!) take rolls, crisps etc, otherwise you could spend a small fortune in that Airport.

You need to be quite firm with shop keepers and restaurants, I found it more annoying than anything else, it got to the point where you just didnt look into shop windows because they would either follow you around the shop or pester you!

I know I have mentioned alot of negatives, but I think it pays to be aware - I wished we knew about the expense and prices, we spent alot of our holiday counting our pennies, we spent about £1400 for the two weeks, (4 of us) and we didnt live it up or go mad.

Next time - would love to be nearer to a beach and would visit a less touristy area, will leave Turkey for a few years before we try again.

Happy Holidays

P.S. very hot in the high 40s!!!!

Comments:  I stayed in Club Julian 21 July for 1 week half board. The hotel is one of the best in the aera and evrything inside was claen and tidy. The only complaint would be trying to get sunbeds you had to be up at 7 to put your towls out. Drinks in the hotel are expensive on par with British cost. Food was catered for the English market with all your home cooked favorites, although breakfast could be better. Rooms where lovely and cleaned every day.
We booked all are trips with Adam from no name travel agency across the road. I found they done excellent prices and gave you a good discount if you booked a few trips they really looked after us. So hello to all guys in no name especilly Adam. Trips ther cost half thre price from the airtour reps.
Kids clubs where excellent with plenty going on day and night. All staff where very friendly and made you feel welcome. Could of easily stayed for enougher week.

the rooms were really nice i would say the hotel in general is great for kids. there is a mosk beside it which goes off a few times a day an night but gerenally not as loud as some people make it out to be. friendly staff, i believe prices went up in hotel but not overally expensive. shops near by would b cheaper to buy suncreams ect than club julian supermarket. very safe run hotel security staff an cameras etc.

Comments:  Just came home from 2 georgous weeks in the Club Julian. There was me, my husband and 3 children aged 11, 6 and 2. This was the first holiday we have ever done all inclusive and this wasn't bad at all. The breakfast was rubbish and the children didn't bother with it after the first couple of days. A chef was cooking fresh pancakes or omlettes every morning. The evening meals were alot better and there was something different on every night, though I think there should be more on offer for the kids. All the meals we ate for lunch were great and we got to eat in the ala carte resturant between 12pm and 2pm every day. The entertainment team really worked there socks off and the kids loved it. Our 6 year old went to kids club one night from 7-12am. I would love to go back here again, but they are not offereing all inclusive next year. I don't weather i'd try half board as it is really cheap to eat out here, it's the drinks that cost more. e.g. full english breakfast - 99p cup of tea £2.50 or coke £3.00.

Comments:  Have just returned for a fantastic holiday at the Club Julian with my family. I was worried as my youngest child is 4 and my oldest is 13 that they would not have enough to do. How wrong I was. The oldest child spent the whole holiday with the escape reps Emily and Emma. We forgot she was even on holiday with us at times, until she came asking for money that is! The girls took them out to dinner one evening and the kids and myself think this is a fantastic idea. The youngest child was always in the kids club with Steph, Simon and Jess. They have fantastic activities planned but if the children want to do some thing else they change it for them. I had so much arts and craft stuff in the apartment by the end of the week I had to forget to pack some of it. The slumber party was fantastic as it meant that while one child was at meal night the other was being cared for in the kids club for 5 hrs and we could go out and have a meal on our own. We could not belive the slumber party was only £10 for 5 hrs and that includes a childs meal from the resteraunt and the kids get loads of sweets! You would never get a deal like that in the UK.

The entertainment team work really hard all day long. If you want to be active you can join in with sports or if like me you want to relax why not take part in the quiz where you don't even have to leave the sun bed! Bingo is a must, won the house twice and really bumped up the holiday fund. The evening is a mix of differant things but is always a kids disco. We missed the Dizzy and Shades show as the children watched it during slumber party but the kids raved about it for ages and would not shut up untill a Dizzy teddy was brought to take home. One of the entertainers explained that the shows are all put together by an outside company and this shows as they are really good. Popstars was my fav.

I am not going to mention the name but we visited on of the local travel agencies to book our excursions. Our jeep safiri was an shambles from start to finish. At one point we thought about getting off and getting a taxi back to the hotel. Because of this they offered us a free moonlight cruise. We are still waiting for them to come and pick us up! While having a chat with the rep Annie we explained that we did not understand why thomas cook would put their name on one of these shops. Annie was very shocked as they don't. The shop owner had got the logo and printed up a letter saying thomas cook were happy to recomend them! The remainder of our trips were booked through Annie and were fantastic. Yes you pay a little more but you have the backing of a proper tour opperator if any thing does go wrong and in my book i would rather that than risk going with a so called bucket shop again!!!

The staff in the hotel are fab. You don't have to leave the sunbed as they just bring everything to you. The wrist band idea is also good. We topped up my daughters band every morning and that was her for the day!

Will be going back next year and hope all the Airtours staff are still there!!!
