Jan 2006, Miss N L Clark

I am very disappointed by some of the negative comments I have read on this site. My friends and I (5 of us in total) went to the Malibu park apartments for a relaxing holiday at the end of college. We had a wonderful time. The staff were all very pleasant the maids were really nice and they cleaned our rooms at least once every two days. The beach is not very far away, quite a nice walk, but there is a free bus every hour during the day if you don’t fancy the walk. The staff in the splash bar by the pool were wonderful and the food in there was gorgeous and very reasonably priced. If you want to go out for your meals there is a lovely Chinese very close by and lito's restaurant is highly recommended. The rooms were basic but had everything you need. The pool area was very clean and there were plenty of sunloungers. We are going back to Malibu Park next year.

We stayed at Malibu Park during the...

Jan 2006, Miss N Wells

We stayed at Malibu Park during the Christmas week and had read some bad reviews before we got there, and they were true! The resort is at the top of a hill, and although it isn't miles from the beach you soon get fed up with the walk, and especially trying to get back up the hill! Not suitable for older people, or young children.
We had been told that there was a free bus service that went to the beach and back, but this seemed not to be the case. The pool area was dirty, and you couldn't get a sun lounger as the drunk English louts would leave their towels there from the night before. The pool area is not suitable again for young children, or civilised people as the guys just sit round the bar area drinking and swearing and don't move from there all day. The food is awful there and as the resort is in the middle of nowhere you don't have many restaurants nearby.
We have stayed in Tenerife many times but would never stay at Malibu Park again. You can stay a lot closer to the beach in both Playa Las Americas, and Los Christianos and be walking distance to everything with a great choice of bars and restaurants.
The staff at Malibu Park were also the most useless and unhelpful of anywhere we have stayed. Once they have your money they don't care. We spoke to other people staying there and they all had awful stories of their stay. Some had infestation of cockroaches in their apartment! One girl had her clothes stuck in the washing machine and the staff refused to help her and told her if she broke the door open she would be charged. She left her clothes in there and they were never returned to her.
A great holiday, and will go back again, but will not stay at Malibu Park!!!

The Spall family have been going to...

Nov 2005, M J Spall

The Spall family have been going to Malibu Park for the last 11 years and have never been able to find fault. This year we booked a privately owned apartment and there was adequate room for my family of 5 including a 17 year old. We have always found the staff to be friendly in the splash bar and the prices for food and drink very competitive (Look out for Oscar) the evening bar manager who will do absolutely anything to ensure that your stay is as relaxing as possible.
Come out of the main entrance and down the hill turn left and wander into Lito's restaurant where you will find the biggest and cheapest breakfast on the Island, Lito and his wife Raquel are superb with kids and we have spent many an evening enjoying the finest Paella and sangria we have ever tasted. Lito insists all his fish is fresh so it is best to book 24 hours in advance.
There are several new rides at the water park and several late opening bars very close by.
To sum Malibu Park up, Clean Very children friendly (three films on large screen daily) and a very safe clean pool.
Very impressed as usual.

Oct 2005, Mr S D Pittaway

After some of the negative comments on here I guess anyone may be a little concerned, but whatever problems they had in the past have been resolved. Our apartment was clean & had been recently decorated /refurbished. Shop on site was good. Reps ok, pool adequate.
Some of the places we ate 44 oxford st - Malibu restaurant - & a super curry at the rani tandori.
There’s plenty of PR’s trying to get you into their restaurants
Which can be a bit OTT. Some timeshare pests about claiming to be from BBC or doing a survey from the tourist board so beware

The apartments were ample for us ( a party of 9) 3 adults and 6 children with various age ranges. My apartment I picked up 60 butt ends from (I am a non-smoker) so had to complain about this in fairness it did not happen again!
We were somewhat disappointed that the complex being as it is large had no entertainment. It has a splash bar by the pool which is run separate from the hotel - some of the staff here were fine mainly in the evenings but the other staff are not children friendly and seem to be lacking in basic manners and politeness. We went on a night out to a reps do - in fairness also to the reps the show was good but the waiter service was appalling we were virtually thrown our meals! and also told to hurry up and pass the plates along - we paid well in excess of £250.00 for this trip so we ended up getting a taxi home halfway through because of the appalling impoliteness of the waiter that we had! Our advice is don’t go on reps night out!
The sunbeds at Malibu park are chained up till 9.30am - many mornings they are not unlocked until about 10am - several times we had to request this to be done/ The apartments are quite far away from Tenerife central so taxi-ride advisable. We mainly ate in Malibu’s and Litos down the big hill ( you can take a lift at end of apartment block to avoid the hill) If you see Neil and Neil down the bottom of the hill - they are great in fact they brightened up our holiday in Hemingway’s the Karaoke bar - Wayne is gr8 there also lets the kids sing karaoke we spent many an evening there.
My advice is if you want a little politeness don’t go to Malibu. The reps did their best but I think they are fighting a losing battle here! Also please be aware 2 robberies whilst we were here and that was from the safety deposit boxes!! If you have a coded one gr8 but don’t use Key safety deposit ones this is where money stole from. If this helps in your choice then this is the majority consensus of the 9 people including kids in our party!!!

Sep 2005, Mr D Brierley

This was my second time of staying at the malibu park, and to be honest, it will be my last. we went for two weeks and the first went fine, but on the 4th day of the second week, our room was robbed. we had over £1000 of valubles stolen, and when we reported it to reception, they didnt want to know. Our rep, Colleen Armstrong, was very helpful, and gave us all the numbers to call to cancel bank cards etc that had been taken. we then had to spend half a day in the police station trying to translate all the things that had been taken to the officers, not a pleasant day! Stay away from veronicas too, as two of our friends were spiked on our last night! overalll the holiday was good, but keep an eye on your valubles.

Just returned from 1 weeks holiday...

Sep 2005, Mr C Lightbody

Just returned from 1 weeks holiday staying at these apartments ,after reading some of the comments I must admit we were a bit worried. But when we got thee all our fears disappeared .The apartments were absolutely spotless, with the maids coming in every day to clean & change bedding, the staff could not have been any more helpful and pleasant, with a special mention to our 2 reps colleen & Sarah. My only complaint was : we were staying in a studio flat & there was not much storage space & we lived out of a suitcase but it was not a great problem .I would recommend these apartments to anyone going to Tenerife on a self catering basis. Oh and cardiac hill is not that bad we got used to it by the second day. So thank you Malibu park & all it’s staff & especially colleen & Sarah for making our holiday the most relaxing week we have had for a very long time.

Hi its Elaine here,...

Aug 2005, Miss E Armstrong

Hi its Elaine here,
I went to Malibu Park from 26th august -9th September 2005. I found it a very pleasant, clean, & friendly holiday resort.
Never mind what people have said about the heart attack hill, take it easy walking up over the autobahn, then at the side of the Chinese is a small walk way, this leads to a lift to your apartments.
I have never ever been to a more clean resort, even the pool gets cleaned every day also around the pool gets washed & swept, there were no cockroaches only the very odd 1 that I saw in 2 weeks.
Also if you like to take a year to have a shower yes it does run cold...but its great as you need a cool shower, just regulate it correctly then you can have a long shower
I also loved the stray cats that were there we fed 3 of them, we also named them tiggi, ratty 2, & tiddles, tiggi stayed in our apartment at night she was beautiful.
If you do decide to go to Malibu park, I can assure you that the staff are great, colleen & Sarah our reps were also very friendly, if you do go make sure I have book my next years hols there first so I am not disappointed as I loved it there.
The only disappointment I had this year is I got stung in the sea with a jelly fish, I got first aid on the beach, then had to get ointment from Pharmacia, past mcdonalds on playa de las Americas a 24hr one by the way, they were very good.
Oh if you do go, also call in at the drop in pub playa de las Americas, on the sea front you cannot miss it, as its on a corner. To see Ronnie, he puts very good shows on at night 9pm-12.30am. Ask him to do the thunderbirds, he is a great guy & you will love him & his shows. Don’t forget to leave me a seat as I’m going again with my sis vik, in April may 2006.
Have a great time love to you all, Elaine xxx xx x.

Apr 2005, Miss K Harrison

I think the Malibu Park apartments were great.
There was 6 girls in our group and we had a fantastic time. The hotel is clean and rooms are nice. We had a great balcony with a fantastic view, the water park is right next door.44 oxford sty is great for brekkie.
It's a bit of a walk to the beach but ok if your young. The best Chinese is definitely the slow boat the portions are massive! Overall it’s a great place to stay everyone’s friendly.

Malibu Park is a large complex of...
7 / 10
Mar 2005, Mr B Tunmore

Malibu Park is a large complex of over 300 apartments. It has a very good on-site shop, helpful 24hour reception staff, Internet access and 2 pizza/snack areas and a bar showing movies on the complex.
The sun loungers go quickly around the pool. Each room has a TV but you must feed it €1 per hour. There are no alarm clocks or radios in the apartments, but you do get a hairdryer.
The rooms are modern, clean, a generous size and have stunning views from the balcony of mountains, sea and the aqua park. Others look-in on the complex over the swimming pool and bar area. Safety deposit boxes are available in every room, also ample storage space.
The apartments are very clean inside and out with cheery cleaning staff cleaning them and making up the beds each day. My only qualm is the hot water tank in the apartment only holds enough hot water for 2 small hot showers. If you have a long shower, your partner will have to wait a good half-hour before they can enjoy theirs, unless you like cold showers!
It is only a 15-20 minute downhill stroll to the nearest supermarket, past the Windmill restaurant. There is also a nearer, smaller one signposted from the reception and reception can always call you a taxi, which usually arrive within minutes. There’s also a taxi rank outside the supermarket, down the hill, over the motorway, which is handy for bringing you back up heart-attack hill with all your shopping.
You may want to bring your own salt and pepper and a good kitchen knife (in your suitcase – not hand luggage!) to make it a quality self-catering experience, all other essentials e.g. corkscrew were included. You should also have €80 cash on arrival for your (returnable) room and safety deposit box deposits. The room deposit is essential, and not mentioned clearly in all the travel itineraries.
Other than that, besides noisy neighbours, wafer thin walls and loud stilettos, which are impossible to predict, have a great time there – we did!!!

Jul 2004, Mrs S M Lindman

The complex was dirty, and uncared for.
You had to pay extra for items e.g fans as it was too hot. The rooms were basic, with two twin beds together to make a double. Only maid service for change of beds every three days.
Towels were not changed regularly and we were left without towels the day before we left.
