We are just back from a two week...

Aug 2007, Dr K Philip

We are just back from a two week holiday at Malibu Park. After reading the reviews we were worried about what the hotel would be like but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived.
The room was quite basic but was cleaned everyday by the maids, who did a good job. paying to watch the TV was a bit much and no air conditioning?
The pool area was small and only managed to get sun loungers a few times but pool bar was reasonably priced.
Local bars and restaurants were all nice and friendly especially Lito's and Zena.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Malibu Park but probably wouldn’t return. You get what you pay for!

We spent 1 week in Malibu Apartments...

Aug 2007, Miss K Unknown

We spent 1 week in Malibu Apartments and was welcomed to a used condom being left on the Balcony!
Walking around in bare foot we ended up with black feet the floor looked clean to us but it was obviously not. Maid came to clean the Balcony but didn’t do a very good job the floor was still disgusting and didn’t even look touched.
We had a cockroach which we found in our Bathroom on the shower curtain. We had to pay for a TV and fan which we never bothered with as we have better things to spend our money on and was expecting these in the price we paid which was not the cheapest of holidays!!!!
The Reps, Paul & Loretta were lovely. Food was good and the surrounding bars and restaurants were nice. Pool was clean.

Jul 2007, Miss N Stockings

After paying quite allot of money to stay here for a week, I have to say I was totally disgusted with the accommodation.
It was like a scene from faulty towers from start to finish. The added security being a piece of wood in the patio door filled me with confidence.
Entering the room the door handle fell off from the inside. Cooker facilities didn't work. Two single beds that we had to push together.
We found a couple of English bars where we spent quite allot of our time as the owners made us feel very welcome and were very friendly.
The aqua park was a brilliant day out with the dolphin show being the highlight of the day. Tenerife is a place I would visit again but there's no way I would visit Malibu Park again.

Malibu Park is not as good as its...

Jul 2007, Miss N Hughes

Malibu Park is not as good as its madeout to be we’re just back after 2 weeks.
The cleaning is shocking; the maids didn’t clean our rooms properly. After the maids tried to clean our rooms, after walking from our front door to the living room all our feet were rotten! We complained a number of times to Loretta the Thomas cook rep she went out her way to get it fixed.
It was that bad when the maid was in trying to clean I had to go for Loretta so she could see for herself how bad it was. She went straight to the manager, the maid got sacked but it’s an on going problem everyone had complaints about the cleaning it just wasn’t that maid that couldn’t do it right.

Thanks anyway to Loretta the rep for trying.
Maybe if the manager took the maids to clean his house for 2 weeks he wouldn’t be happy and he would see that they don’t do it right!

Arrived at Malibu to find out we had...

Jul 2007, Miss C  Hogg

Arrived at Malibu to find out we had to pay a breakage deposit which was never told to us by our tour operator. The receptionist one was most uncalled for, more or less demanding money from the coach load of tourists. Was given a rubbish map which directed us to the moon and back to get to our room. Room was ok at first, as we were not going to be in much so it would do. Bathroom was disgusting. Grime around the bath tub, dirty soap and grit all over the floor. Was horrified to find that the only means of security for the patio doors was a small piece of wood (we were only on the first floor, easily accessible) We were directly over the large industrial wheelie bins which stank. Men leering up to the balcony meaning we couldn’t go out comfortably. Onsite catering was foul, would give you a heart attack in a week, nothing but grease, fat and overcooked.... Urghh. Has problems with cockroaches as soon as we returned to the room after our first excursion. Accepted that this was common but didn’t expect to find them dead in the kitchen pan cupboard. After 3 days we decided to complain to the night security officer replied that he couldn’t do anything and we would have to deal with it. All we wanted was a cleaner to distract the things. Shower was cold. Has to use neighbours. Was disgusted to find when we rented the TV that that there was no prior warning to us that there was 24 hour porn available on channel 1, this does not bother me but I think that this is totally unacceptable considering this is a 'family friendly' hotel. I would not be impressed to take my children to this. Overall I did not enjoy this holiday. Rubbish and an old mattress were left outside our door for 2 days and it was only moved when I threatened to get health and safety to investigate. I know this sounds like a good old nag but I hate complaining, this is a genuine review of dissatisfaction. I would not recommend this resort to anyone. Sorry

Like other people reviewing these...
10 / 10
Jun 2007, Ms W Richards

Like other people reviewing these apartments, I was a bit worried after I had booked for my daughter of 15 and myself, but I should not have worried the apartments were excellent with a maid service every other day with clean bedding and towels.
We were overlooking the tennis courts with a brilliant view of the sea in the distance. It was very quiet in Malibu as not many staying and we did have a noisy encounter on our first night with the apartment next door as rented to local hotel workers.
We complained to the Thomas Cook rep who had a word with security and we found no complaints from next door for the rest of the week.
On previous reviews they stated the reps were miserable and unhelpful but this was untrue, Loretta our Thomas Cook rep was very helpful and went out of her way to make sure we were looked after.
It is as the brochure states a long walk up the hill but this is if you choose to walk it! There are steps and a lift from the bottom of the apartments to make this easier and we used these all the time bypassing the heart attack hill!
The choice of bars and restaurants around the apartments is plentiful and for the woe of us we managed a meal every night for under 20 Euros for both of us, which is really good.
We particularly like Bill Bailey's further up around the Aqua Park and Mally Boo Bar at the bottom of our steps and down into the resort Eugene's was exceptionally good. The Peking/Chinese next door was also great.
We did 2 excursions through Thomas Cook one being the half day Jeep to Mount Teide which was breathtaking and the drivers were great fun throughout the day, when paying for the trip the cable car for Mount Teide is not included as they are never sure whether it will be running - we were lucky to go up to the top and this was 33 Euros for both of us (My daughter got away with half price 14 years old as they are quite flexible).
The second excursion was the Freebird sailing to see whales and dolphins - again not guaranteed that you will see them but we were lucky to see 20/30 small short nosed whales and this made our holiday.
Also to sit on the front of the Freebird and catch the sunshine was exhilarating - make sure you take plenty of suntan lotion as you burn really quickly out on the sea - they do have a young lady on board checking everyone for sunburn who was really helpful - she does sell her own tanning lotion though - but beware it is a little more expensive and when you get back on land you can find all her products in the shops - watch out for the Aloe Vera products as these preserve your tan for when you get home.
On the whole my daughter and I had a great time and would recommend this resort to anyone.
Brilliant.

Jun 2007, Miss S Schulz

We have spent one week in May at the Malibu Apartments.
The welcome at reception was warm and we was given good directions how to find the room. Yes, it's like a rabbit warren with lots of steps but you get a free work out!
The room was very spacious and the kitchen well equipped should you wish to cook (we preferred to eat out and you can find everything you want- from Spanish to English...)
The room was cleaned 3 times in the week we stayed.
The view from the room was over tennis courts and the sea in the far distance. It was quite quiet when we got there; we were right above the bars which could be noisy in high season. You can hire most appliances from the hotel but its expensive, so take your hair dryer, and iron if you really want to use it.
Didn't see a cockroach in the room! There is a nice pool and a free shuttle service during the week to the beach once every hour; we preferred to walk to the beach, approx 15 mins and a bit more back as it's up hill!
You are a little away from the main resort, taxi between 5-7 Euros. Beaches are nice and clean; you can use them with your own things or hire two sunbeds and a sun umbrella for 8 Euros a day.
Biggest downside was the weather, cold, cold, and colder. Either windy and cold but sunny or cloudy and cold, guess we were unlucky.
Booking trips outside the hotel was much cheaper. It was good value for a package holiday and that is what we got, it is very built up but couldn't fault it otherwise.

May 2007, Miss T Anoymous

We arrived at the hotel and had to find our own way ourself. Wasn't told where to go which took us 30 min to find the room.
Room was nice, we had pets for the week which included cockroaches and the maid service wasn't good, as they changed the towels and bedding once during our weeks stay and the other two times they just folded the dirty towels, and put them back on the rails and the same dirty bedding back on.
Noisy early in the morning with workmen right outside our door they didn't replace the broken TV for two days. There wasn't much entertainment at the hotel or round the area.
Long way to go to town and expensive by taxi as no other service was available.
The highlight of the week was the Aqua Park and dolphin show which was brilliant and the bars in the town.

May 2007, Mrs K Butterworth

After reading all the bad reviews I was very worried about staying here.
But I was very surprised, the apartments were lovely and clean didn’t see one cockroach in the whole week in our apartment, the view from our balcony was amazing.
The reception team were brilliant and always on hand to ask advice re the area.
Beaches were clean and the area was lovely.
Would definitely return here for another stay. If you are staying in these apartments I would suggest you find the lifts at the back of the complex, as they take you down to local shops, bars and restaurants and saves you the long walk down the hill
Overall a fantastic holiday.

Well what can I say?
Food was nice. Beds were hard. People in the hotel was very nice and helpful.
Pool was very very nice and the beach was better! Loads of fun for a week away.
If you see a black and white cat out there his name is Tom a.k.a. bups#2 and if you see a gray and black one his name is jerry...(we named them).
But overall it was a good stay and I would go back there again next year.

Just returned from a week at Malibu...

Apr 2007, Miss S George

Just returned from a week at Malibu Park. I was very worried about staying here after reading all the bad reviews.
Luckily I was pleasantly surprised, the apartment was clean, the shower wasn't very good but it did the job. I didn't use the kitchen facilities as they didn't look too appealing, especially the kettle!
The maid changed the towels every day but only cleaned and made beds one day.
The reception staff really let the place down - took over two hours to get into our room due to our key going missing, and then a family were checked into our room on our first night at 3am.
Only saw one cockroach in our room on the last night. The TV card was about 25 Euros for 7 days and lasted all week. The bar at the front of the hotel had very friendly staff.
All in all a brilliant week at Malibu!

Apr 2007, Mr B Bullers

We have been to the Malibu Park 6 times now and have never been disappointed.
The apartments are spotless and well equipped; there are two swimming pools a large one and a separate one for the younger children both are cleaned daily.
The staff are always pleasant and willing to help. There is a poolside bar where you can eat and they also show movies.
The Malibu is situated about 300 meters from the water park, and about a 5 minute walk to the bars, shops, and restaurants.
