We revisited the Venetian mid July 2003, at the invitation of the Vice President of Hotel Operations. This was in response to a complaint letter that I had sent the previous year in regard to the awful stay we experienced for my 40th birthday. Side note - don't expect any special treatment for special occasions if you stay here - staff couldn't care less. Overall this hotel has gone from excellent to terrible in a period of three years. Management should be ashamed! Our first stay in December 2001, was fantastic - service, room, view, restaurants, etc. That visit prompted the return visit for my 40th birthday in August 2002. Won't go into major details except to say they did their best to ruin the occasion for not only me, but our invited guests. When I received the complimentary vouchers to return in response to my complaint letter as an apology from the Vice President (to demonstrate to me "how they have improved over my previous visit"), I thought maybe things were looking up in terms of service and quality again. Well, you know what happens when you "assume". We were invited to check in at the VIP Lounge. Only positive aspect of that was avoiding the horrendously long lines in the lobby for the main desk (for their prices I wouldn't endure that - totally unacceptable). Another hint - avoid valet parking at all cost - unless waiting over 30 minutes for your car in a very busy, extremely crowded, polluted environment is not an annoyance to you. Highly recommend self parking. Staff in the VIP Lounge very indifferent - must be specifically trained to "act bored and distracted" with the guests, and to do your (the staff) best to ignore them (the guests) standing in front of you while you talk amongst yourselves (the staff). "VIP" must be referring to the staff, silly me. Special requests (like making a restaurant reservation - I know, that's a lot to ask) are a burden to them - so please don't bother. Another "VIP" training tip - when you (the staff) finally decide to acknowledge them (the guests, and by all means take your time doing so), address them (the guests) by saying, "Did you want something?" (a very classy and warm welcome), and be extra snotty when you do so. VIP Lounge staff excells in rudeness - you rule, people! Wonderfully strong stench of sewer throughout the casino and elevator lobby (an attempt at replicating the canals?). No air conditioning in guest elevators - perfect for July in the desert! Room service trays with half eaten food left in the hallways for two days - very sanitary (Hello? Health Department?). Broken refrigerator left in hallway for two days (the "Hee Haw" touch is a freebie - no extra charge!). Mold all over the shower walls and floor (same problem from previous visit - guessing simple bleach is still in limited quantities around Vegas?). Housekeeping (I think?) didn't empty trash cans, left dirty glasses in the room, and didn't bother to put clean glasses in the bathroom. (Important Note -prerequisite for requesting anything from Housekeeping is fluency in Spanish as English is not spoken here, for your convenience of course. If you insist on using the official spoken language of the United States with Housekeeping staff expect stupified blank stares in return, and an unknowing friendly smile, of course!). The Venetian is all about service (but I'll leave it up to you to determine what kind of service). Several non-functioning light switches. Windowsil caked with dust. Furniture stained and worn out. Bathroom plumbing makes horrendous gurgling noises all night long - enough to wake you up from sleep. Not to mention the ongoing construction that begins bright and early (6 a.m.)- a truly luxurious way (How about some more construction dust to go with your Mimosa, while you listen to the soothing sounds of a jackhammer at sunrise?) to wake up after a late evening losing money in their casino (very tight by the way - must be saving up for some of that elusive bleach). All in all, a major ripoff masquerading as a 5 star "luxury" hotel. Nice try, no cigar. I've had cleaner rooms and friendlier, more professional service at a Holiday Inn Express in Detroit - no kidding. But hey, if you have a strong need to spend big bucks (by Vegas standards) for a larger than average dirty, smelly room with terrible service, then you'll absolutely love this place! I will only visit this property again to dine at Postrio, which has consistently been fabulous - kudos (honestly) to that establishment and their staff who understand high quality and excellent service! Ciao, Venetian! Love you, don't mean it!
We hated to leave.....

Having been to Las Vegas many times, we received a good deal from Venetian via email & took the offer. They took good care of us from the moment we drove up to the hotel. I requested a room not too far from the elevators & got one. I am a fusspot so when we got up to the room, I carefully checked it out. Clean, clean. Yes, there were some worn spots on the furniture but not too bad. It's really a wonderful hotel. Not just the rooms but everyone we asked information from was kind and helpful. If you valet park, they offer free bottles of water & entertainment for the kids while you wait for your car. Self-parking was easy. The restaurants are excellent. They have one of the best up-scale Chinese restaurants in LV. The French Bistro is very good, also. The Grand Luxe Coffee Shop is slow but you get a huge meal if you like that. There are fast food places both on the main & second floors, too. Centrally located, good service. I was impressed.
Terrible service would not want to go back.

I stay in Venetian in august for 1 night which is around $200 on a saturday night. The room is nice but who stay in the room when you are in vegas. The service is terrible. I book the place with american express credit card so i can have free continental breakfast and with a late check out at 4 pm. Okay here's the problem1. The maid came into the rm without knocking even after I let her know there's someone in the rm. first thing open the door is to ask me when i'm checking out, i was like *** so unproffesional.2. Checking out is a hassel, the stuff have no idea what is going on. They over charge my inroom dinning (breakfast) for $23 and they are not willing to resolve it. The lady talks like a machine and has no idea what is going on. I mean 2 bagel and 2 drinks and some fruits is $50?? They want us to wait for the receipt but yet they don't know when they'll get the receipt. I mean i have to check in to ballagio i don't have all day. They also said they'll call us once they'll figure out but never received any call its been a wk now.Don't waste your money staying in venetian they are way over price and over rate.

I cannot say enough about the Venetian. First, my wife and I only went to Vegas in mid-August for the sun, since the entire east coast had two weeks of rain. As expected Vegas came through with nary a cloud and temperatures up to 109. Our plan was to stay by the pool for 5 days. Now real funseekers may scoff at this notion, but the three pools at the Venetian were excellent. Definitely an adult crowd which permitted privacey and a reasonable degree of solitude. Although we had to move occasionally for some shade, the pool area was great with isolated nooks and crannies, a short walk to the hotel, and an excellant adjacent bar, snack bar and facilities. The only thing I can fault this area is probably my own pet peeve: how can a first class hotel let people smoke in the pool (imagine cigar ash floating around) or let people drink in the pool (fiddling with beer bottles or souvenir pina colada goblets)? Am I missing something or is this typical Las Vegas behavior? The drink girls seem to ignore empties and trash which did build up and blew around a bit.ALthough my wife stayed by the pool from 10 to 4 daily, I used the Canyon Ranch spa and gym twice daily. An excellant facility but not cheap....$30 per day or a package rate; plus, all the amenities of a four star spa (the massages, the manicures etc. etc.at astronomical prices). The gym was first class, and free classes from yoga to kickboxing were provided. Anyone looking to continue their daily fitness program should take advantage of this. Runners be forwarned...I did the four miles to downtown at about 9:00 am, and got my butt kicked by the heat on the way back.As to the Venetian itself, it is one of the best resort hotels I have ever stayed at. Wonderful suite size rooms; great views; ask for free mini-frig to be brought to your room. The staff was consistently pleasant and accomodating; although I had contact primarily with the young pool and gym staff, I found the reception, housekeeping, security and restaurant staff very motivated. The gondolas, frescoes, St. Marks Square effect was impressive. Been there....done that. Not a big volume eater so I can't say much for the Vegas food scene; but if you wish to try something special check out Prana a pan-Asian/Vietnamese restaurant in the Desert Passage (changing name soon to Crustacean). $$$$ but worth it in terms of cuisine, atmosphere (its late night club re-opens soon) and civility.I definitely will return to Vegas again to relax and would do the Venetian again.
Luxury and Royalty

This is the best resort in Vegas! The customer service is superior: they make you feel like you live there! They even gave us pool passes after we checked out so we could enjoy the rest of the day there before leaving. The decor is elegant and authentic, the rooms have marble floors, moldings, beautiful furniture, the bathrooms have a whirlpool tub, georgeous show and a vanity. Two TVs, a conference table, desk, sofa, canopy bed... beautiful! It is so spacious too! 700 sq. feet. The shops and pools are wonderful too; the employees really go out of their way to make you feel special and at home. I will always stay at Venetian when in Vegas.
Beautiful hotel

I stayed at the Venetian this past weekend, and I had a pleasant stay there. The suites are amazing, spacious, and the beds are clean and comfortable. The bathroom was just as spectacular, and I loved the vanity. The staff was courteous, and was prompt at cleaning our suite and providing us with towels when we needed them. It is on the pricier side, but it is worth it.
The Best hotel on the strip
from A TripAdvisor Member
I visited the Venetian hoping for something above the service a cheaper hotel in Vegas would provide. And I definetly got more than what I had intended. The service was fantastic, and the Houdni Museum was outstanding. Everyone treated you with high respect. The lobby and rest of the hotel/casino was breath taking. Usually at most hotels in Vegas you find yourself with nothing to do, but here it was a very different story. Some things it has to offer is the best spa on the strip, the wax museum, Houdini Museum(as mentioned), and the gondalas. The only thing I thought needed improvement was the pool, but besides that everything was superb. I will definetly return, and I hope others will forget all those bad reviews and think of the good ones that truly reflect the Venetian.
What a Dump

This place was a raunchy, atrocious, beastly, stinking hell hole. The staff was obscene and rude. The room was smelly and squalid and full of filth. We stayed there in June and wished we had stayed at another hotel. I felt like I was staying at a motel 6 but they leave the light on for you. Please, for the love of God don't stay in the Venetian. If you do you will be extreemly sorry. BEWARE !
Nice Hotel: Not So Nice Service
from A TripAdvisor Member
I just recently returned from a weekend trip to Vegas where we stayed in a suite at the Venetian. I've been to Vegas numerous times and the hotel looks so beautiful we thought we'd try it. Yes it was nice inside, the suite was great but the service was terrible. Both times we ordered extra towels to the room we had to wait over an hour, the service at the GRand CAfe was terrible. When trying to place my order at 3am one night it took over half an hour and 3 calls to a manager, and then they made me pay for the meal. 2 other customers walked out after being tired of waiting for thier order. Lastly, housekeeping never showed up on Saturday, even after we called them to let them know we're were going out for the day and they said they'd be right up. I would recommend walking through the hotel but not staying htere, cause if you want a 5 star service go to the Bellagio
I love the Venetian

I stayed at the Venetian on my two most recent weekend visits to Las Vegas (December 2002 and July 2003) The first stay, I was blown away by the room. Of course, I wanted to stay there the second trip and was apprehensive that it would not be as wonderful an experience as the first. Again, the second stay met all expectations. The second stay was in the new tower, which is beautifiul. It was a maze trying to find the room, but worth every step. The registration and guest services staff made you feel like they appreciated you. It was like the staff took a course entitled "The guest is the reason you have a job" and that each staff member literally took that course to heart. Seeing a few of the reviews about the Venetian prompted me to write about my two wonderful experiences.
wow this is the best hotel on the strip in my opinion. the rooms are the best ive ever stayed in. they are hugh, all have a lounge dining area as standard and house three tvs!!! i spent mu honeymoon here, the hotel is pure class, at a reasonable price. the pools were... more
