" I have absolutely nothing positive to... "
Submitted By: Mr R KellyWhen I arrived at the Stella Aparthotel the stench from the sewers was so strong it nearly made me vomit. This smell was continual through out my stay. Our balcony was covered in dead insects, the curtains in the bedroom where threadbare, the corners of the room had cobwebs in them, the kitchen cupboards where covered in stains, the bathroom tiles where all cracked, bedroom had footprints on the wall and the apartment was fitted with light fitting just about hanging on to the wall. Absolutely filthy apartment.
I found Joy who worked behind the bar and reception rude, ignorant and very unpleasant. I thought she was trying to be ironic when she told me her name. I would like to take this oppurtunity to apolgise to Joy for troubling her for a drink during my stay.
I was also amazed upon my arrival that the air conditioning was an extra 14 euros per night! Maybe I have been lucky but I have never been asked to pay extra for air conditioning.
Thomas Cook rep was as rare as the Dodo and the only reply Stella (The Manager) could give to my complaints was that I should have told her earlier. I think Stella needs to appreciate that people do not go on holiday to spend all their time chasing the hotel manager to complain and in addition if I am paying good money to stay in her hotel, it should be perfect when I arrive and during my stay.
To put it simply I was disgusted.

Submitted By: Miss Yu HallAt night there is sometimes entertainment in the apartments but if not there is loads more entertainment else where. Eclipse bar you must go to! It’s extremely hot in there but such an awesome atmosphere. Me & my friends used to just walk around the island (even though is was unbearable heat ... even at night!) and explore and sit in loads of different bars. Eclipse bar is definitely a place to also go in the day, loads of the Greek kids hang out there as well so we made friends with them as well! A restaurant called ' Two Brothers' which is another must place to go to.
Overall this holiday was amazing. Pefkos is a beautiful little island and is a place I would love to go back to.
10/10!

" I booked the Stella a few weeks... "
Submitted By: Miss J Dacosta... but as we arrived, we come to a really nice, big hotel, and I had to ask the rep "are you sure this is were we are staying??" as I really was expecting little apartments.
Anyway the staff were really friendly and when we got to our hotel room, the view of Pefkos was amazing, we watched the sunset and it was so beautiful! The room was really big and modern and not basic or shabby! No insects which you always see in Greek apartments.
The pool was a fair size, it had 2 small pools for kids, and there was a lot of people there for October, the sun stays on the pool area all day, plenty of sunbeds available, its just located slightly up a tiny hill and I mean tiny like you walk say 30secs up it off the main street in Pefkos!
The only bad points I have about the hotel is that the plates were a bit mingy and stained and the maid come at like dead on 10am everyday when I was eating my breakfast before we went to the pool which did annoy me =D
You have everything at your door step, 1min from main street, 5mins from beach!!!
I honestly thought we were in for a boring holiday! but there was mainly young and old couples, mostly age 21 up, no big gangs of teens there or anything (which is what we've always went away for, we like lively places you see), but it was really nice and relaxing. A big change from what we were used to but still plenty of cocktails and bars to keep you entertained at the end of the main street. Nothing was closed because it was near end of season, everything was still open and it wasn't a quiet hol, but it wasn't a partying hol either, so it suits everyone.
To be honest the whole of the Pefkos area is really modern and classy, gorgeous places to eat, no dodgy looking places what so ever! The restaurants there and the shops are better looking than ours in the uk! and the people are really really friendly, I get sick of the grumpy, miserable people you find over here.
And as for the weather... I gotta say I've never seen so much sun in October, we went to Zante last September and it rained the whole week! But in Pefkos it was so hot and I came home with a lovely tan.
I'd defo go back to the Stella and to Pefkos, maybe mid Sept to get some more young couples to mix with but other than that, I'd defo recommend going, for couples its a lovely, relaxing, holiday, with great food and great cocktails... =D x

" We went to Rhodes to attend a friends... "
Submitted By: Miss G ClarkHow perfect it was!
The apartments were lovely, like brand new. The cleaners came in every day and changed the towels every day (apart from Sundays). The weather was very hot even for September. We definitely needed the air con. The pool area is very clean and all the staff are very friendly.
Everything is so close and surprisingly not noisy when in your apartment.
There were so many fantastic restaurants, across the road, next door, 2 mins up the road etc and loads of good bars.
A few of our friends came over from Lindos to escape the high prices and non-child-friendly hustle and bustle. They all said they would definitely stay in Pefkos next time.
I cannot rave about this resort and the apartments enough. We will definitely be going back. We loved every minute.

" Arrived at the start of a heat wave,... "
Submitted By: Mrs M ParnabyThe beach is about ten minutes away and there are plenty of bars/restaurants enroute for a cool drink while on your stroll. Have to add that Lee the rep was great and organised daily activities round the pool and a night time quiz (I should have won with my drawing of George).
All of my family have enjoyed the best holiday in a long time and all want to go back just so we can see more of a beautiful place.

I found the Stella Hotel to be extremely clean. The maids came in every day to supply fresh towels, empty the waste bins, straighten the beds, sweep and mop the floors. They even swept/mopped the balcony. They brought fresh bed-linen twice a week. I felt very sorry for them as they worked so hard in the extreme heat and yet they were always cheerful. The studio room was very comfortable and it had all we needed including a hair-dryer in the bathroom. The kitchen area was well-equipped with utensils, plates and cutlery, a fridge, hob, microwave and kettle. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. There was a bar in the main block which provided a reasonable food menu, although we did not use this. The pool and grounds were kept very clean and there were always enough loungers and parasols to go round even though it was the height of the season.
The hotel was centrally situated, being 30 seconds from the main street where all the bars, restaurants and supermarkets are situated, 30 seconds from the main taxi rank and 30 seconds from the hotel’s own supermarket which has its own bakery and everything ranging from food to drink to beach stuff to clothes to presents. Having said that, I did not hear any noise from the street when I was in the hotel. Just 20 yards up the hill behind the hotel is another bakery/supermarket which has the most amazing selection of pastries and bread and a lovely little chapel next door which is worth sticking your head inside (in fact it is so small you can really only just stick your head inside!!) There are countless restaurants and even if you went to a different one every night for a month, you would still not be able to go to them all. They cater for all tastes – Greek, international and English (for the unadventurous). There are even two Chinese ones! The resort comes alive at night, but is mainly full of young families and couples, so not somewhere for teenage rampages. It is really the sort of place where people just stroll looking for somewhere to eat, then maybe have a drink or two before heading home again.
The beach is a bit further away and takes about 10 minutes to walk although it can seem longer in the heat of the day. The beach is sandy and the water shelves gently so is safe for children. There is an 8 Euro charge for 2 sun loungers and a parasol, whatever time of the day you arrive, so this can seem a bit much if you don’t turn up until mid-afternoon. The sand can get too hot even to stand on, so we always hired the loungers and parasols.
There is a list of organised tours (day trips to Symi, day trips to Turkey, day trips to Rhodes Town, Greek night, WaterPark at Faliraki etc) or you can take the very good local bus service to other parts of the island. We took the local bus to Lindos (costs 1.50 Euro each way and takes about 10 minutes) but if there are 4 of you, you might consider taking the taxi as they only charge 7 Euro and take you door-to door. We had intended to take the local bus to Rhodes Town as well, but the tour rep had warned us they take three hours to get there and the buses are not air-conditioned. We later discovered the buses ARE air-conditioned and only take about an hour to Rhodes Town, so this might have been a ploy to make us buy the organised tour. The old part of Rhodes Town is definitely worth a visit, as is Lindos with its quaint streets. We also went on the glass-bottomed boat from Pefkos to Lindos and back. It anchored offshore for a while to allow you to jump off and have a swim out at sea.
We had a great holiday and came back rested, but I do just have a few tiny niggles in what was otherwise a perfect holiday. Firstly, if you like your Greece plain and simple, you may not like Pefkos. The resort did not exist until about 7 years ago and has been built solely for tourists. It is new and sophisticated and not at all like the Greece of the past. The restaurants are bright and modern, some of them even adorned with flat-screen televisions showing Sky Sport which irritated me a bit. But there were still places which seemed to be Greek in spirit (try the Delizia rooftop restaurant run by an elderly Greek couple - just across the road from the hotel). Secondly it was very hot in July (temperatures were in the mid 40s Centigrade) and the weather would probably be more comfortable in April/May or September/October. The hotel charged extra for a remote control to activate the air conditioning unit in our room… 50 Euro per week per unit (the studios have one unit, the larger apartments have two units). The temperatures did not drop below 30 at night, so it was worth the extra cost, but I have never been charged extra for this in my travels before. We heard that one man at the hotel spent the night by the pool on a lounger to get a bit of cool air at night!
I would certainly not hesitate to return to the Stella Hotel and would thoroughly recommend it.
Advice: Great place for families and couples
Activities: Lindos, old part of Rhodes Town
Good for: Beach
